We need help!
A few months ago we bought Weathertech fitted interior floor mats, window deflectors and a bug deflector.
The mats are great, the window deflectors are great and easy to install, (my husband did it) but he is having a heck of a time installing the bug deflector.
He doesn't seem to having any luck with the plastic screws. He got one in and the rest won't catch, almost as if they're stripped but they don't seem to be.
The cut outs on one side seems to have bigger cut out dimensions than the other side.
We have been dealing with McNeill, the company we bought them from in Ontario, Canada. They have been super. We've sent photos and was on the phone with a technician who actually installs them but we seem to still be having trouble. It just won't go on. The salesperson I've been dealing with is ordering another kit just to see if it will be different from the one they sent out. We don't know if it's us or if there is something wrong with the dimensions of the screen. Maybe it was cut out wrong, if there is such a thing.
What I would like to know is there anyone out there who has installed one of these by themselves? And if so, did you have any problems or not?
Maybe someone can give us a bit of direction.
It's a Weathertech bug deflector that uses plastic screws to install it and we own a 2009.
I'd appreciate any info anyone would have as we are pulling our hair out.
Thank you kindly,
Em

I installed the Weathertech bug deflector on my 08 a couple of weeks ago. It is a fiddly job. A couple of tips, though they may seem obvious;

Make sure the screw is right out of the plug before trying to install the plug. I tried leaving the screw in the plug, loose, to give the plug some rigidity, but then the plug wouldn't go in at all.

Have one person pressing hard on the seated plug with their thumbs, and a second person driving the screw.

I had to exert a LOT of force on the screw to get the threads to engage. Once the threads are engaged, the screw threads right in. Be very careful, though, as the screws are plastic and will bend over easily. Make sure your screwdriver is dead straight in line with the screw or you'll break that screw. Use a good quality #2 phillips head screwdriver.

Do not over tighten the screws. Barely snug is all that is needed.

Hope this helps. Persevere; you'll get it.

We are having a hell of a time.
I will pass your post onto my husband. Although he has tried everything.
Do you happen to know your part number? Ours is 50166WT and it says Honda Ridgeline 2006-07 on the bag.
My husband was only able to get one screw in. The others would not catch. I was trying to hold it together as best I could. There seemed to be a lot of pressure on everything when we did it. But like you say, the screws are plastic and could break.
Winnipeg isn't that far away. Want to come do ours?;)

Just do what I did, use self taping screws. I never trust those plastic screws.

What are self taping screws?
We've been in close contact with McNeill. They've just send us a photo and it doesn't look like ours. Do you have a white 5 digit number on yours?
