I just had my son inlaw over. He use to install these at Capcity. I was asking him about noise and that the acordian style tonneau covers make noise and that I like the idea of a flip cover. I showed him the Bakflip HD. He said that the middle of the tonneau cover is not secure and it will hop up and down on track making noise also. Any input? Picking up my RTS mon nite and trying to get bas much info as possible. Want to make only 1 purchase on a cover
Thanks

Hi ctjoe,
I have had my Ridge for a year and a half and I bought a used Truxedo tonneau cover about 3 weeks ago from someone who's Ridge was at the end of his lease. So far I have had no issue's with noise from the rear due to flapping. I drive about 30 miles a day on the interstate doing 75 mph. I do have it really tight so that might make a differance too. I am sure other will ring in and help you. Dave

I need a solid cover that locks, not sure about a lightweight cover. The ones I am talking about offer a little security

The OEM tonneau is HEAVY, will not/does not flap or flop.
It's a bit pricey but is lockable (I chose to install a Dynolock as well).
Good luck to you!

I've had the Bakflip for almost a year now, and have no noise issues. Each section that folds locks into place with a slam latch, so I'm not sure what your in-law was pointing out to you. I haven't seen mine so much as wiggle. One thing, though, the Bakflip doesn't secure your truck bed. You'll still need to add a PopnLock or a Dynalock to the tailgate if you want security. With the tailgate locked, the closed Bakflip is secure from anything short of a big prybar or a sawsall.

So I am guessing that nobody has any noise issues with their tops. Wow

Some members do have comments about the Retrax tonneau cover flapping when the ridgeline is at 50mph....It's a roll up style tonneau cover....

I've have the bakflip - there is no noise or flapping. Like another mentioned, each panel secures itself down. Further, the whole rail has a rubber strip, so even IF there was some kind of minimal movement, its not going to rattle.
I'll go one step further and say that rattles and creaks annoy me. Things in my glove box (like a mag light and a multi-tool ) are wrapped in pipe insulation so they dont chatter in there - I just mention it so you dont think I just am not hearing a tonneau problem.
Some people love the OEM - I just think its too expensive for what you get.
One big PRO is you dont have to look into a tailgate lock if you go OEM. But there are solutions that even installed and added to the cost of the Bakflip will come in cheaper.
