Minnie is on the lower end of Brittany's in size and she is a deep liver color. Very smart, very hungry all the time and very loyal. :)

No..she's 9 soon to be 10. But she thinks she's a puppy and still thinks she's a lap dog.
Truckin' 10-31-2005, 05:40 PM How come all these adorable dog photos are showing up in this thread? I almost missed them.

Webwader 10-31-2005, 08:18 PM I missed this thread earlier too. Your backyard is beautiful Ladyridge and Minnie is absolutely adorable. Kellcut, we need a better picture of your dog, or is she posted on one of the pet pic threads? Cute picture and caption, lowrider. It's been over a month and we still miss Grover terribly.
BassBud 10-31-2005, 09:11 PM We're coming on a little slower with the cool weather. Here's a pic from last week at the SC beach. We were there for a couple of weeks..... very warm the first week, and chilly but sunny the second one.
Will be in the NC mountains this weekend...... temps in the high 20's to low 30's..... I expect a different picture!
(My first attempt at attaching a picture..... hope it works)
Long Gone 10-31-2005, 09:19 PM Beautiful color. Nice picture Bass. Thanks.

The Atlantic has a real nice blue color to it! Not like the Algae whale piss green on the southland beaches in California! It doesn't get blue until you get away fron the population!

ridgeln 11-02-2005, 11:39 AM more Autumn in Ohio photos.
My wife and I went down to the Hocking Hills two weekends ago (leaving the Ridge Rats with my parents) and rented a cabin. Great weekend - although it rained most of the time, the leaves were awesome, and a lot of the day trippers stayed away due to the rain. Wonderful place.

Webwader 11-02-2005, 11:48 AM Beautiful, especially with a lot of SILVER in among the reds and golds.
lowrider90 11-02-2005, 12:03 PM Looks like I should stop in OHIO sometime, never thought it could look so nice. What I see from the highway passing through is quite different. (corn feilds and city limits)
Have to admit the silver primer does look good against the lanscape.
Long Gone 11-02-2005, 12:13 PM Breathless Ridgeln. :)
Thanks for sharing.
Lowrider90!!!??? Those pictures don't even scratch the surface of Ohio land and it's beauty.
So..come to the ROC meet this weekend and see Ohio in it's glory and splendor. :D
Zemog 11-02-2005, 12:22 PM This is a shot I took in New Mexico a couple of weeks ago. (That is if can figure out how to include a photo.)

I'm a deer hunter in November and December every year....Oh yah! Ohio...corn feilds... filled with big corn fed deer. Maybe I will have to go.

I'm just sad I didn't get any great pictures of our area when the leaves were in their glory :(

Hey we need you to help weed back the herd here so don't you go helping them in Ohio. The deer population around here is getting out of hand. But worse still was the Moose population back 10 years ago in Maine. Talk about a mistake completely stopping the hunting of Moose, they came back and forgot how not to jump in front of people and their cars. At least deer tend to only do it during mating season.

Best hunting around these parts??
Ohio/Pennsylvania State Line Road on the Ohio side. I can get you directions if you like. I hunted with my late husband many years ago there for about 15 years. He never left without a deer. I just went along for the scenery. Couldn't kill bambi myself.
And believe it or not..I even have my own deer story. :D

Thanks but I have to side with captmiddy on this one, there is no place like home!

I understand that..completely. I guess that's why I came home after 2 years in the Denver area, 1 year in Manville, NJ and I year in San Diego. :) I clicked my heels and away I went. ;)
ridgeln 11-02-2005, 04:40 PM thanks for the kind comments - I only wish the photos were half as nice as the real thing.
lowrider90 - come on out - you can get an out-of-state hunting license for $25 (for 3 days of hunting) - there's a tree stand at the back of my property and a pheasant farm down the street (2 miles from my place) - come out for the ROC @ the Rock, and stay for the hunting! :) We'll be out on the Cape next July so we'll need to hook up (staying in Wellfleet w/ my Aunt & Uncle)
The SILVER truck looks even better now that I spent the time this past weekend waxing it (I might even get into the habit of doing it on a semi-regular basis, I like the look so much!).
I've attached some more photos - the bridge is from Old Man's Cave hike, the overhang is from Ash Cave (technically not a cave), the leaf is a leaf, and the view off the deck is really the view from the hot tub at our cabin - the perfect ending to a long day of hiking.

Where in New Mexico? That's some mountain range.
I'm loving all these photos. Keep posting!
Zemog 11-03-2005, 07:52 AM The New Mexico photo was taken just East of Las Cruces - the Organ Mts. The locals call them the Razor Backs.

You make it very tempting, I think the guys who are counting on me to hunt my land in Maine might be dissapointed if I back out on them at this point.
To bad, I'm do for a new experience, life just rolls on! thanks.
Long Gone 11-03-2005, 08:37 AM This is what you'll see if you come from the East on 80 just before 77.
Actually this was two weeks ago so it will be more beautiful.
Long Gone 11-03-2005, 08:40 AM Just a few other shots from my area.
lowrider90 11-03-2005, 09:31 AM thanks for the pics, looks like Maine, without the mountains.
Webwader 11-03-2005, 09:53 AM Maine has mountains?
lowrider90 11-03-2005, 10:32 AM Maine has mountains?

Check this out!
Longfellow mountian range or as many regard it as part of the white mountains and all are part of the Apalachian mountains.
My cabin sits just on the edge, north of Fryberg
by the way you can view the mountain range on google earth, nice view!
captmiddy 11-03-2005, 12:51 PM The population in Maine and NE in general has been bad because it is increasing faster than it can be hunted back and almost all the predators have been wiped out or are now eating human trash which is so much easier to get to than hunting a deer. I have heard rumor of allowing people to bag more than one deer a year. I have no problem with hunting deer as long as the person doing it is going to eat it or give it to someone who will. I do not believe in raw sport hunting, it has to be used.

I'm with you on that, as an expample, while pheasant hunting with my dog Casey, I came across someone I knew he likes to hunt too. Actually, his dog was casey's mother. anyway, I didn't know it at the time but, i found out he would bag as many as he felt like, then would toss them in the dumpster. he was taking all he wanted so his dog could get the practice. I didn't like him very much after that.
About deer population, you made a good point. one other thing to consider, last year was a very cold winter, i was at the cabin trying to snowmobile it was 18 below. those kind of temps on a regular basis can wipe out 50% or more of the total deer and moose population. it seems as though they do not have a problem bouncing back the next year, maybe because of some of the reasons you mentioned? turkeys have made a huge comback lately too.
bonerep 11-03-2005, 02:42 PM Nice pics... Here's my Ridge in Big Bear Lake, Ca as fall begins..
ridgeln 11-03-2005, 03:50 PM Bonerep - beautiful pic!
I totally agree w/ what you hunt, you eat. That is all I do - and why I don't hunt deer - no one else in my family will eat it, so it would go to waste. So I get deer jerky in trade - 20 lbs required as "payment" for permission to hunt on my land. Always have takers.

This type of attitude drives me crazy, I am actually a vegitarian, so while I go fishing I generally fish without a hook and almost always release. The only time I keep it is if my wife is there to eat the fish or someone else wants to eat it. I have no problem with people eating meat but killing animals for no reason drives me batty.

Yea we have wild turkey just around the bend from here. We see them on the way to work occassionally. I am surprised there aren't any right on my street but maybe the swans scare them off, they seem to scare most everything else.

Turkeys don't like noise of any kind. Man, I don't know if I could live without a sunday prime rib or smoked spare ribs (I have a lang wood smoker) or brisket sandwich!. more power to you. also, I'm a big fisherman too, this year we cought about 80 bluefin tuna, kept 1 per day as the rules allow, we fed everyone this summer. Nothing like a fresh tuna steak on the grill.
One question, I am a personal trainer/nutritionist on the side. How do you get the right combo of vit b's in yuor diet without any meats?
bonerep 11-03-2005, 07:48 PM I have a BANDERA Smoker and use it every weekend. Nothin better than smoked meat.:D
