: So Cal ROC Holiday Meet Poll
e_piph_a_ny 11-17-2009, 10:51 PM Ok folks,
Saturday, Dec 12th at Downtown Disney. Pick the place!
(as you can tell, not a frequent visitor to DD, so TJ's and Rainforest are mixed together. Just click it and state your preference in a post. )
JOZ RIDG 11-17-2009, 11:32 PM Ok folks,
Saturday, Dec 12th at Downtown Disney. Pick the place!
Sad to say Ive' only been to one or two of those establishments and it wasn't in Downtown Disney.
I will wait and see how the votes come out and maybe be a tie breaker. ;)
5S Dude 11-17-2009, 11:53 PM Tortilla Jo's and the Rainforest Cafe are two different places!
We pick Rainforest Cafe :)
meanmachine19 11-18-2009, 04:10 AM May wanna check with these places to see if they can accomodate a large group. I think we went to Rainforest Cafe and sat outside once but not sure if it was Downtown Disney.
kanji 11-18-2009, 09:14 AM Last time SoCal ROC visited Downtown Disney, some of us ate at the Rainforest Cafe, and it was packed and there was a line practically out the door. Some of us decided to see a movie across the way, that was kewl. Maybe difficult to get a large number or a large group at Rainforest.
Ridgegal 11-18-2009, 09:32 AM Thank you so much for posting the poll.....Now let's get the votes in :)
Hugs, Kelli
Twintym 11-18-2009, 09:48 AM The Twintym family votes for the Rainforest Cafe.
Dan
RustyH 11-18-2009, 09:58 AM I'll be in Huntington Beach on December 25th....anyone want to get together then. Come on....We're supposed to be a big happy Ridgeline Family and shouldn't families get together on the holidays? :D
Toobuku 11-18-2009, 11:16 AM We can also spend time at Downtown Disney then caravan to another location to eat like Po'Folks in Buena Park ? Huge parking lot and banquet room lots of space but we may be separated. We could also flip the order of events. I am flexable.
e_piph_a_ny 11-18-2009, 05:32 PM Okay folks, Rainforest has three votes and Jazz Kitchen has one vote.
Jo&Jo and Kelli, still waiting for your votes.
Now, What is the Start Time?
e_piph_a_ny 11-18-2009, 06:23 PM Last time SoCal ROC visited Downtown Disney, some of us ate at the Rainforest Cafe, and it was packed and there was a line practically out the door. Maybe difficult to get a large number or a large group at Rainforest.
What can you do to cut your waiting time? Here are several ideas you can try---
1.) Call the restaurant ahead of time to make reservations---The Downtown Disney Anaheim location of the Rainforest Cafe accepts reservations a whole YEAR in advance! They RECOMMEND making reservations at least 2 weeks in advance if you have a particular date and time in mind upon which you'd like to dine.
You may call the restaurant directly at The Rainforest Cafe phone number, (714) 772-0413. (This is NOT a toll-free telephone number.) Note: The Rainforest Cafe is one restaurant in the Downtown Disney District that does NOT use the Disneyland Dining reservations system. But if you'd like to make a spur-of-the-moment visit to the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney California, don't worry----they don't completely pre-book their whole restaurant with advance reservations! There are still plenty of seats left for "walk-ups."
2.) Dine at the Rainforest Cafe during the off-season. If you visit the Disneyland Resort several times a year, it makes much more sense to try out the Rainforest Cafe on one of your fall, winter or spring visits than during the summer months. Summer vacation crowds are daunting; you may enjoy the same meal much quicker if you pick another season to test out the Rainforest Cafe's meals. There are many days you'll be able to just "walk right in & sit down" during slower months at the Disneyland Resort.
3.) Dine at off-hours. If you plan to enjoy a meal at the Rainforest Cafe during a busy period, choose a time when less people will be competing for a table. Plan for an early lunch...or wait until the mid-afternoon. Try the same "early or late" strategy for dinner, as well. There are simply many more people who would rather wait in line for dinner than change the time they eat to a "non-traditional" mealtime hour.
Minimizing the wait times for Rainforest Cafe!
1. Make Reservations Ahead Of Time - CHECK!
2. Dine At Off-Season (not summer time) - CHECK!
3. Dine At Off-Hours - MAYBE CHECK?!?!
Now, What Time Do We Meet? Then I will make reservations. ;)
JOZ RIDG 11-18-2009, 06:41 PM Okay folks, Rainforest has three votes and Jazz Kitchen has one vote.
Jo&Jo and Kelli, still waiting for your votes.
Now, What is the Start Time?
Ok, I vote for the Rainforest Cafe.
2ea. Joe & Joyce.
I think we should try to get reservations.
Good idea Danny.
Ridgegal 11-18-2009, 09:03 PM Voted and yes reservations are good....

Wohoo! You are more thAn welcome daryll, you are part of the SoCal ROC!
It's almost around the corner....
Ridgegal 11-19-2009, 01:34 PM That is great Daryl....it would be great to see and have our families there.
Yes Kanji, I believe we should get a head count plus and minus ASAP. The holidays around the corner and I believe many companies and families will be having parties around there.
Also, Tony's idea is good too. To eat somewhere else and caravan, carpool, etc over to Downtown Disney if we are not able to get any reservations. It's always nice to have a night cap at Downtown Disney.
So please...votes in Folks

e_piph_a_ny 11-19-2009, 01:54 PM If you missed my amended post # 16 (see below attachment :o ). WHAT TIME SHOULD WE MAKE THE RESERVATIONS FOR?? :p
Ridgegal 11-19-2009, 02:46 PM If you missed my amended post # 16 (see below attachment :o ). WHAT TIME SHOULD WE MAKE THE RESERVATIONS FOR?? :p
I say at 7 or 7:30pm. That way it gives time to greet and not too late to walk around. What do you folks say?
e_piph_a_ny 11-19-2009, 03:04 PM I called RFC to check out availability
Nothing available at the 7:00 hour for party of 12. They have a 330pm and 930pm openings.
They are only taking reservations for up to 25% of the restaurant capacity at any given time. This leaves 75% for walk-ins but the hostess stated that in all likelihood, we would have to wait and then be split up!

What's Plan B?
5S Dude 11-19-2009, 04:06 PM [Plan-B] How bout we sit down for an early lunch/dinner and then walk it off around the park? :p:rolleyes:
5S Dude 11-19-2009, 04:12 PM We could eat and drink somewhere besides Downtown Disney and then meet up at the park afterwards too!
e_piph_a_ny 11-19-2009, 04:23 PM [Plan-B] How bout we sit down for an early lunch/dinner and then walk it off around the park? :p:rolleyes:
[Plan-C]We could eat and drink somewhere besides Downtown Disney and then meet up at the park afterwards too!
I like your Plan B and Plan C. How about the rest of the folks?
Post your vote for:
1. Plan B or
2. Plan C. And suggest where to eat. :D

Hi there, I agree with you Brah,
I think Tony was saying something like that...maybe we should all meet and have dinner near there....that way we can drive over, carpool, caravan, etc...to Downtown Disney for drinks, walking around, etc.
or we can just keep trying for another restaurant there.....more than the food, I want the company
Hugz
Toobuku 11-21-2009, 02:42 AM Since I will be coming back into town, You guys make the call and I will show up! ;)
mcgee 11-21-2009, 08:51 AM So Kelly, what's the final decision about our mini meet for the 12th?
Ridgegal 11-21-2009, 04:23 PM So Kelly, what's the final decision about our mini meet for the 12th?
Hi folks,
Well, it looks like early evenings are not good at Downtown Disney. So we can do what Ron has said and meet for an early dinner and walk it off or we can go elsewhere nearby and then go later to Downtown Disney.
Does anyone have any ideas? Ron, I believe Anaheim is more your territory area and not too familiar with the surroundings of Disney? Or Epiphany, Anyone? :)
e_piph_a_ny 11-22-2009, 09:45 AM THIS POLL IS CLOSED. LOOK FOR THE NEW SO CAL ROC HOLIDAY MEET POLL, "the sequel"
5S Dude 11-22-2009, 09:46 AM Anacrime is my "neck-a-da-woods" but we don't get out much........:p
I know Dan, Pam and I are Crab Leg Connoisseur’s and Joe’s Crab Shack is around the right around the corner from Down Town Disney but Plan “C” sounds great too as we’ve had dinner at PoFolks with Toobuku right down the street from Knott’s Berry Farm and it does have huge back rooms to accommodate all of us. There are lots of places to choose from in the surrounding area, all of which will be pretty crowded on Saturday evening.
So Plan “B” gets our vote. Simply to focus on seeing everyone again and being able to spend the time visiting is what we love about these get togethers.
Thank you so much for your working the polls Danny!
kanji 11-28-2009, 06:44 PM btw...what is the plan? are we all just meeting up for lunch at 3:30 at DD, what's the plan for the day or is this just lunch/dinner at 3:30 and afterwards do what ever?
I may keep the reservation at 7pm for dinner at Brennan's Jazz Kitchen....if there's nothing planned to anything else and just meet up at 3:30pm for Lunch/Dinner.
Ridgegal 11-28-2009, 06:47 PM After hearing from Nikki Doodles and Kanji, I prefer the dinner at the Jazz Restaurant although I voted earlier for the Rain Forest. I guess we will be spending the day at Disney and California Adventure but would be nice to have a nice somewhat holiday feast. But just my two cents. But again, this is a majority vote.
getyourmindright 11-29-2009, 08:06 PM Wow Ridge Fam wish you could have said the get together was on the 19th I would have been able to make it, I'm driving in from Texas will be there til the 4th of Jan.:)
e_piph_a_ny 11-30-2009, 10:34 AM Will This Be The Last So Cal ROC Holiday Meet Poll? (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31938) :elf:
SheDevil 11-30-2009, 12:55 PM IMO....Rainforest cafe is fun once....beyond that it's packed full of screaming kids and out of town families. Bleh..... Give me a nice quiet balcony ANY day over that.
kanji 12-01-2009, 02:40 PM Kelli and I have decide to get rooms at bestwestern pavillion for saturday night, in case we have too much fun and don't want to drive back. It's south end of Disney parking lot is the location. Pretty good deal at orbits for $85 per night.
