BannedUser 11-07-2005, 10:51 AM RIDGESTOCK 2006.
A few of this weekend's ROC @ the ROCK attendees talked about another meet. We thought Marysville ( Columbus, Ohio )would be good and maybe we can get a Honda tour arranged.
We have a few members who live in the neighborhood there so at least we have a little "foot in the door" action.
I chatted with TMac and he said why not make it our International meet for next year like our cousins the EOC did this year. I say.....
"LETS DO IT!!"
Gretchen 11-07-2005, 11:46 AM :D :D :D Great idea!!!
YES! Lots of time to plan vacation for that time. Where is Marysville, though?
But, but, can this be the first annual International Ridgestock??? Seeing as some of us Canadians may come. ;)

Now doesn't that sound much grander, too?

A little off to the NW of Columbus, OH:)
Zemog 11-07-2005, 01:24 PM This sounds great. The last time I was in Marysville was for one of their annual Honda Goldwing motorcycle meets. Got a really nice plant tour. including the smelter in Anna. :)
25 Year Honda Owner 11-07-2005, 05:04 PM Only 480 miles for me, let's go for it. Anyone want to consider an earlier meet closer to home? Smokies after Thanksgiving and after New Years is not bad as far as rates. Anyone interested?
captmiddy 11-07-2005, 05:08 PM Don't you think we should have the first international meet in Canada and try to get a tour of the Ridgeline birth place? A few dozen Ridgelines coming home to see where they came would be cool. But I think that may be harder to arrange than what is being attempted here. Hopefully either way i will be able to drag myself away from the office long enough to attend this one. I missed the first big meet :(.

With the price of passports these days...I don't know if we can get too many people to go. It's $80 + to get a passport. :(
If you don't drag yourself, let us know and we can help drag you!! :D

Lets go for it! Probably in January would be great, all the crowds are gone, lodging is reasonable, and most likely snow. Keep in mind that the Smokies are within 8 hours of most of the Eastern US.

Todd and I have been planning a trip to the Smokies since we got Ridgena. Set it up, we'll be there. If you need some help, let me know.

I'm with you cap! Saturn did this with a great deal of corporate support. Do you think Honda would work with us on this?

Wow! Do I feel stupid. You need a passport to get into Canada, now? I used to go fishing up there several times a year, when I lived in Minnesota, and I've never had a passport.
UglyTruckling 11-07-2005, 05:54 PM Maybe Ridgestock should be held in one of those Dakota states... given the lack of ownership there, the group would probably attract a lot of attention....

We needed passports not to get into Canada last year, but to get out -- the U.S. required either passports or picture I.D. and birth certificate to reenter -- we didn't like the idea of dragging our birth certificates around with us on vacation, so opted for the passports.
dsowell 11-07-2005, 05:59 PM About 2400 miles for me. Ouch! I'd love to but I hate to burn a week of vacation just driving.
captmiddy 11-07-2005, 06:10 PM I believe passports were supposed to be required around end of year but they pulled off on it because Canada and others opposed it because it would have been too large a burden with such short notice. The new plan is that by end of 2006 if you are flying to Canada or from Canada you will need a passport. If you are driving to Canada or from Canada, you will need a passport after 2007. This is still open for public comment. So right now you can go to Canada without a passport and will be able to until the end of 2007 if you drive and end of 2006 if you fly.
I got a passport this year because I took a cruise and it was easier to have a passport than to cart around all the other things.
ridgeln 11-07-2005, 06:12 PM Not wanting to offend anyone, I propose we change this to the INTERGALACTIC RIDGESTOCK. And this has gotten way bigger than I figured! I would love to do the Canada thing (love the Saturn reference) and Honda Homecoming is the week & weekend that Honda and Marysville sponsors for the Honda motorcycles. In talking with the folks at ROC @ the Rock, we decided that Marysville, OH would be a good place to go for a meet - no intent to offend anyone - figured people would be more likely to come to Central OH than make the long trip to Canada, but who knows? 10 trucks or 100, I'm still game for a local, state, national, international, or intergalactic ROC meet.
(btw: Marysville is home to Honda, Scotts MiracleGrow, and Nestle R&D - a nice little place to raise a family - check out the Union County, OH Web Site (http://www.unioncounty.org/).)

SmokyMtnRidger 11-07-2005, 06:27 PM We vote for a meeting in the Smoky Mountains....
Just trying to figure out the distance. How far in time is the drive from Columbus to Buffalo or Syracuse?
Alternately, how long would it take to go from Bangor, Maine to Columbus?
SSquire 11-07-2005, 07:46 PM figured people would be more likely to come to Central OH than make the long trip to Canada,
7 one way, half of 14 the other...

Nothing says we can't do them all. I'm game for the Smokies in January. I'll be ready for a break by then. Cabin fever!!
RTL44 11-07-2005, 09:33 PM I would love to do the Marysville thing! I was so bummed I couldn't go to Cleveland. I'm here in Columbus, but I drove out of town (to Pittsburgh of all places) this past weekend and couldn't attend.
Let's see if we can pull this off!
captmiddy 11-08-2005, 08:17 AM I really don't have much of a problem with where it is, it just has to be interesting on its own since I need to entertain my wife as well. We haven't driven to Canada for a long time and the one time we did it was just to drive through it not to visit, although we did spend time at Niagara Falls on the way back. Going to Canada I can get a family visit, a little time in the woods and a visit to another country all done in one quick trip. So this is all selfish ;). So while the Rock Hall of Fame was a neat place, how about Cooperstown and go to another Hall of Fame ;)? Or perhaps lets meet on the edge of the Grand Canyon, or as someone mentioned a trip to the mountains. I am sure we would all like to get into a Honda plant but as T Mac said, this isn't going to be easy to arrange. A meet where we can drag our families around and they are entertained while we are all gathering around in our trucks. Maybe a group boating trip or camping trip in our Ridgelines.
That all being said, this is only year one for the ROC, so there are plenty of trips and meets to come, so maybe after the next one I will help arrange one to some wooded region of the country where we can all camp out and sing songs about our truck :D
ridgeln 11-08-2005, 08:58 AM About 5 hrs to Buffalo from Columbus.
We are looking into other things that can be done during the time people would be here. One of our members also has connections to Honda.

Steve Smith 12-30-2005, 09:47 PM O.k. then, so what's the plan? A get together of as many Ridges & there owners/ familys to meet in Marysville ,Ohio? As the owner of 4 Honda motorcycles and my Ridge, I've always wanted to tour the Honda plant. I can only hope this is a summer-ish get together. Sounds like a tire kick'n good time!
ridgeln 12-31-2005, 05:46 AM Hi Steve -
yes, the plan is to get together in late July (Honda has not announced when Homecoming is going to happen yet) - at this point, there are a huge number of trucks interested in coming.
I've talked with our local dealership (Honda Marysville) and they are onboard for helping sponsor this.
Details, details, details.
Honest - as soon as I've got info, it will be posted (and it will be a sticky with all the info)

rfs830 03-10-2006, 07:42 AM I would like to come with everyone if its ok. I know im a bit young (22) and do not have my ridgeline but do have an accord and am a honda fan. I live in Ky and would not mind making the drive to see the honda plant. I know someone that works there also.
Holding off on the ridgeline for now to stockpile money away for my new house. Maybe only if I can hold off and not keep looking at the Ridgeline so much.

This trip does sound tempting... Love to hear an update myself, as a newbie :)
stlridge 03-25-2006, 06:06 AM Sounds like fun and interesting. We might be able to make it part of our annual run back to Sandusky. If it would be possible to attend some of the activities (plant tour, R&D Q&A, etc) and not cut into the water time, that would be great. Think I would get chased off with a Yamaha scooter in the back and a Waverunner behind?
hankeepank 03-25-2006, 06:42 AM I'm in! It sounds like a great idea!
