Hey all,
I just returned from being down in New Orleans the last 3 weeks. Some of the things that I learned from this experience: 1) The news doesn't do justice in showing the damage in the area 2) The people in New Orleans are very grateful for all the donations and help that they have received 3) The spirits of those affected are very high and the area will be back in due time, maybe even better than it was before. I will try to post some pics when I get more time.

Thanks for the update. Glad that the donations are being put to good use. What a tragedy there. I cannot imagine the damage, even with seeing it on TV.

I'm glad to hear it. Each Sept. I take my Judi to NO for her birthday. We stay in the Quarter and carry-on for a few days (good for the soul every once and a while - LOL!). This year of course we did not go. How does the French Quarter look? Are they open and partying there yet?

So how many bead necklaces did you perform for?

From what I got from the folks in the quarter is that it did not get much water if any in some spots. The partying that is going on is the contractors and workers down there when they get the time off to do it. I only got 5 hours to go out while I was down there and I spent all that time site seeing so I did not get to perform for any beads! ;)

Justdeefire -
glad you made it down and back in one piece and helped out. We missed you at the ROC @ the Rock, but hope you can make it to the next meet. Nice to know the folks in NO are appreciative of what the rest of the folks in the US have done/are doing for them.

Glad that you are back safe! I agree with you about the news doesn't do it justice in showing the damage in the area. I was part of the rapid response unit (Metropolitan Division) of LAPD during the Northridge Earthquake. Once the shaking subsided and the phone call came in, I didn't see home until 20 hours later. The damage, fires, no hot of cold food for at least 8 nours! It was not fun nor pretty! It not nice to fool Mother Nature!
