I've heard that this truck is built on the Pilot's platform. I've also heard that it is not. What's the real story on that?
Same platform as Pilot?J.Bauer 03-17-2005, 08:36 AM I've heard that this truck is built on the Pilot's platform. I've also heard that it is not. It's definetely not. Here's a snipit quote from Honda's spec info: "...Integrated closed-box frame with unibody construction is extremely rigid and 93 percent unique to any Honda vehicle..." http://www.hondanews.com/CatID2135?view=t&page=1 J.Bauer 03-17-2005, 06:54 PM Thanks for the links, vertrkr. So this platform is tougher. Is it bigger I wonder? And the drive train..is it the same as the Pilot? Besides just wanting to know what's new about this truck and what is being reused... I'm also getting at this question: If this is a bigger, tougher platform - does Honda have any plans to make a larger SUV on it - like a Ridgeline with the rear enclosed and a third row added? And would that be something really different? Or would those changes just amount to an updated Pilot with a beefed-up chasis? Has anyone heard anything about that? Thanks laserfan 03-17-2005, 08:06 PM ...does Honda have any plans to make a larger SUV on it - like a Ridgeline with the rear enclosed and a third row added?...Wow I doubt it. They built the thing to compete in the truck market. Funny you would mention a 3rd row enclosed. That is what we didn't like/need/want about the Pilot that we almost bought before the Ridge came along! jvacierto 03-18-2005, 10:55 AM "So this platform is tougher. Is it bigger I wonder? As far as I can tell, the platform isn't really much bigger. I don't think Honda has any plans for a bigger SUV, but it wouldn't be too hard with the Ridgeline now a reality. Plus, with the towing capabilities, this bigger SUV could compete against the Yukon and those other monsters. White Shark 07-07-2005, 02:51 PM Here's an interesting Unibody pic. | |
