Perkolater 12-16-2005, 06:00 AM Yesterday when I went to lunch the Nav system was fine. Last night when I started the truck to go home from work, the system booted up and went to a "Enter Code" screen. I have NEVER setup a code on the system. I tried a few codes and the system shut down. This morning, it asks for a code again.
How the heck do I reset the dang thing? I tried ejecting the disc etc but just got back to the "enter code" screen.
Any ideas or is there a dealer visit in my future? :(
Kellcut 12-16-2005, 06:04 AM does your radio work ok? It sounds like what would happen if your batter was disconnected. I believe there is a code to enter in that situation.
I would recommend you check with your dealer to see if there is a problem with your battery connection.
Good luck.
Perkolater 12-16-2005, 06:24 AM Yes, the radio works, the clock is still right and it started fine.
tadtam 12-16-2005, 07:30 AM You should have receved a "Radio Anti-Theft code & Navi code card" with your Ridgeline. If you did not you will have to contact the dealer to get it.

I was just on the phone with my dealer and asked how to get the code... he gave me mine, but you will have to call your dealer for yours, and give him your name / address etc... they have your code on file :)
Perkolater 12-16-2005, 07:34 AM I have it, the dealer gave it to me and in fact it was available on the Honda Owners website too. I entered the code and the Nav is back!
Question is, what caused it to ask for it to begin with????
I'll look into the battery connection suggestion.
Thanks for the help!
Ruffles 12-16-2005, 12:13 PM When the dealer first gets the truck, they do an inital setup/inspection. One of the things they do is enter the codes to activate the nav/radio etc. They then put stickers under the fuse box in the engine compartment with the codes on them.
For the code prompt to come on, your nav must have lost power or it could have been a software/hardware glitch. Maybe you have a bad battery, or bad connection or something. Even if it's working OK now, I'd document the problem at the dealer so that in the future, you'll have no problems getting it replaced if need be.
Ultra-HOG 12-16-2005, 12:22 PM I made labels with the radio code and the NAV code on them and put the labels in a special place so that if I am ever away from my records I can get the codes when I need them. I had a radio in my old SAAB go to the code screen after having some service work done at the dealership. They were useless in trying to get it sorted out. After a while and a lot of searching, I found my records from when I purchased the vehicle and, sure enough, the code was there. I keep the Honda card at home but the codes are hidden in the truck just in case.

Mine are entered on the website at ownerlink too.
OK, not to sound stupid, but if it was a battery problem or a "loss of power" problem wouldn't the clock be wrong too?

I think the clock depends if you have XM or not... there was a thread awhile back about auto clock updates.

Hmmm.. I do have XM. I'll search for the updates thread.
Thanks!

i believe you are correct
any loss of battery power would cause clock to reset to zero
probably a glitch in the navi sytem
as far as recording radio code and navi code
a great place is on the back of your driver license
you'll always have it on you if you need it
i would also call your honda dealer (assuming you use one) and make sure
the codes are inputted into their data base
vincent007 06-13-2006, 09:07 PM I've had my Navi ask for the code twice in the last 6 months or so....
Strange because I didnt loose power, the clock was fine....just very strange. The only thing I can say is that I hadnt driven the truck in about 4 days. It started right up, so I dont think it was power related. Maybe a Navi glitch.
dhoov19 04-04-2007, 09:04 AM Sorry to revive a deceased thread, but I was wondering if anyone ever got further info. about the navi code mystery. I had my navi ask for the code yesterday and had to input my code. (I didn't know I even had a code, so that was another surprise find in the glovebox.)
I have searched threads here and cannot find any logical explanation for the problem. I did not lose power or disconnect the battery. Also, it's an '07 and the other posts I found about this were all '06. I was wondering if anyone has gotten a firm answer on the cause of this from a dealer, Honda, Repair tech, or more likely, someone on a Honda forum somewhere.
