Hi all, My name is Rich and I am going to be the proud owner of a new silver RTL on Christmas eve. I currently own a 2005 Toyota Tacoma that I am extremely disappointed in, therefore I will be trading this POS in on my RL. I have owned 8 Honda's in my 18 yrs of driving, the RL will be my 9Th. If only I would have waited a couple more months for the RL to come out this year I wound not be making a trade so soon. My first impression of the RL was how can Honda make such mistake with their first truck, But after driving a RL and seeing one in person my first impression was way off. My wife currently drives a 04 Accord V6 that she absolutely loves, but after test driving the RL last night she said she would like to have the RL for herself. ( I don't think so!) Anyhow I am glad to find this great forum that I will look forward to chatting on about my new RL. Thanks

fins I just knew someone would ask that question. So here we go. Well it started with the paint chipping on the rocker panels on both the driver and passenger sides of the truck right after I bought the truck last winter. So I go to the Toyota dealer with the problem and they tell me I need to put factory running boards on the truck to prevent this from happening, not to happy with this answer but a quick fix.

The truck was fine for a few months after the paint problem, then all of a sudden it starts to cool off here in SW PA and I notice a knocking sound coming from under the truck when going over rough roads. So I take the truck back to the dealership for them to check the noise out and they tell me they are going to have to remove the interior of my truck to replace the cab mount bushings and bolts. After hearing this from the service manager I was none to happy about them having to remove my interior to correct this knocking problem. All I could think of is things not going back together just right and even more knocks and noises.

In the final chapter of my short ownership of the Tacoma, I decided to put a better tire on truck for winter driving. The truck was terrible in the snow last winter with its semi all season POS Dun lop tires put on the truck from Toyota. So I go to the local tire shop and purchase 4 new Bidgestone Dueler AT revo tires for my Tacoma with only 6500 miles on the original tires. Right after leaving the tire shop I notice a shimmy in my steering wheel of my truck. I was the last appointment for the day at the tire shop so by the time I turn around and get back there they are closing and I have to return the following day. The next day I go back to the tire shop to have the tires spin balanced again. Tires remounted on the truck I head back down the road with the same problem. I go back to the tire shop and they tell me they will have to call Toyota about this problem. The next day I get a call from the tire shop telling me that the Toyota wheels on my truck need to be spin balanced a different way than conventional spin balancing and that Toyota is having allot of complaints about this issue. The method of balance for the Toyota wheels on my truck is called lug centric balancing, what ever that is. Anyway after this problem I go back to the tire shop to have my old tires put back on the truck, call my wife and tell her that I will pick her up to goto the HONDA dealership, and trade this POS Toyota in for the RL. Thats my story in a nut shell. Toyota quality my ASS.

Well, I have heard of the paint issue. But the other two are new to me.

I was very disatisfied with Toyota too. A month after I bought my '04 Tacoma, I noticed in the sun (I later realized this was the first sunny day in more than a month) that the right rear door had a horrible paint issue. The metalic seemed to be applied at a different angel than the rest of the truck. The color was a perfect match, but in just the right daylight the metalic made it look waaaay off. It started and stopped at that one door.

The district service rep made an apointment with me, and ofcourse gave me the runaround. Said it was a reflection of the car parked next to it or the ground that made it look that way. It was very clear Toyota didn't want to deal with reality.

It ended with me pissed and regretful of my purchase.

I went to Honda and traded that truck in on what now is the MT Truck of the Year!

I don't regret leaving Toyota. The dealer was Andretti Toyota. I really expected them to back me after 3 purchases.

Thanks for letting me know.;) Welcome to the ROC, and welcome to Honda!

I had full intentions on buying a Taco, but the dealer was giving me the run-around about pricing and availability. By chance I had an unplanned afternoon off, and the Honda dealer was close by. Took the RL for a ride and forgot about the Taco. I'm happy with my RL and I know you will be too. Best of luck!

That was exactly my case too. Toyota actually drove me away to a Honda dealer and the test drive was all it took to make up my mind:D
Congratulations on your purchase:D wishing you lots of fun and safe driving Ridgeline years:)

Very nice!!! You gotta love presents like that.

My wife and I are considering a new Pilot to compliment the RL. When I talked to Webwader's Honda dealer yesterday they told me that if I wanted they could sneak it to my house complete with Big Red Bow. If I was a little closer I would have taken them up on it.

It was a very restless night last night for me. I could not wait for morning to come. I think I woke up every hour last night. I will definitely sleep good tonight, maybe I will sleep in the truck. Just kidding. Merry Christmas to all.

Nice choice. I live in Johnstown PA and I have been very happy with how the Rigdeline handles the snow on these mountains. Congrats on your new truck.

Does my temporary plate qualify my Ridge as a Christmas present?
