Well after dreaming about my new Ridge for the past 6 months I finally got it 1 month ago, I have already put a remote start and Sirius radio, and tint into it. I took the ridge to My local audio shop and provided the sales person with everything I needed for a great system , except for the sub and box. I purchased the following online.
2 sets of Infinity 6012's 159.00 (from sound domain w/dynomat included)
1 - 4 gauge stinger amp kit 46.00 (from ebay)
3 sets of Stinger RCA jacks 10.75 each (from Ebay)
1 Kicker 700.5 Amp 315.00 (from Ebay)
1 Audio control Lc6 120.00 (from Ebay)
1 Treo SSi 10' subwoofer 225.00 (local shop)
1 Custom made Ridgeline box 200.00 (local shop)

Not to mention the 50.00 per pair to install the Infinities
100.00 to install the amp
and 100.00 in materials fee (ie.. speaker wire, wood, carpet and labor)

After picking up the Ridge the system to mee SUCKS !!
I use to run in my last SUV the same amp, kicker component speakers in each door, and a 12 inch kicker solobaric in a ported box.

Am I expecting to much from a 10 inch woofer in a sealed box ?

I thought maybe the box was made too small ? I will post pictures tommarrow once daylight hits.
Dont get me wrong , my buddy got in the truck and thought it sounded great.
But for the money I spent I was expecting more BOOOOOM for the buck.
Any suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
Thanks ROC members

I just bought an MP3 CD player and sub woofer from Crutchfield but I'm worried that the weight of the sub woofer might negatively impact my mpg! ;)

Is the sub the only problem?

Is the sub box tuned to the woofer?

I have a 8 inch solarbaric in my 911 and it rocks.

Sounds it, I've never run solobarics but have never been happy with a single anything when looking for solid tight low punch.
Always had to be duals, and when running only dual dvc 10's in a sealed box I had to go with an Orion XTR2400(?) before I was remotely pleased with the sound.
I actually ended up moving to 2x 12 dvc (JL's cant remember the model) with that same amp and it sounded lightyears tighter and of course the chest compression, I was suprised it was tighter - I'm thinking I might have been cooking the coils on the 10's possibly tho.

But what I was trying to get at was, try to find someone with a solobaric setup...I know a few folks over at the Tacoma forum have been pleased with their limited space performance.

Try spending sometime getting other opinions w/ other shops and get into your ridge and try adjusting those settings. It may just need to be tuned a little better another thing is which way is the box pointed (i.e are the subs pointed towards the front or the rear of the vehicle) its been my experience that subs usually sound better when they are pointed away the driver but you can experiment w/ these point them up or towards the driver or away from the driver...just my two cents

The sub is in a down fire box, faceing the floor, I am going to try to turn it so it is facing the back of the truck to see if there is a difference. I will post pics and my experience today.

Youa re trying to compare a ported box to a sealed box for the same amount or more of "boom"? Of course a ported box will sound much louder, but also much sloppier (not as tight). If your interest is in pure window and mirror rattling sound, get the box ported.

a ported box will typically give you about 2 to 3 db louder than a sealed box,

...until you get down to their tuned frequency...anything lower drops off real quick. Most people who like their low frequencies stay away from tuned port enclosures. Sealed is the way to go for the best accuracy.

AS Promised here are a few pictures. After tuning it to my ears myself, it sounds much better. The install shop had the gain way down on the amp Now I am pleased. The bass is much tighter and crisp.
Thanks for everyones input.

If you want more bass, stick the amp behind the seat and get a larger box.
