Hello everyone,

I bought my 1st honda last week, a 2006 Ridgeline with 16,700 miles, so I'll be a frequent visitor of this forum, hopefully learning and contributing a little bit as we go. I've already learned quite a bit about this vehicle reading posts and lurking around the past few days. I'm sure alot of questions will arise as time passes.
I had never driven a Ridgeline until last week, and was so impressed it was an instant sale. This Ridge is really an impressive vehicle.

Don't know where you got an '06 with so few miles, but sounds like you got a GREAT deal. Since you're a neighbor, maybe we ought to start a local club!

Enjoy your new truck.

I don't know what you paid for it, but the mileage is incredibly low for a 5 or 6 year old RL.

Welcome to the ROC. I would have expected more mileage on a Texas RL. Congratulations on your find.

Yes, as you can see I already blew it on the color. Actually it's Redrock Pearl with tan 2 tone leather. I got it from Car Max and it was a 1 owner from College Station here in Texas. Thats TAILDRAGGER's stomping grounds.

I didn't know what color was what til I joined the Honda Owners website.

It didn't have a hitch, so I installed the Honda hitch and wiring harness this past Sunday. This form has already been helpful on the harness install.

I don't know if the rear diff fluid has been changed out or not, and I'm guessing the first change is past due, so that will be the next project.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Great find. A really low mileage Ridgeline, what a deal !! Welcome to the Club. Lots of experienced people here to answer your questions.

If it was a one owner, you can likely find out who owned it and maybe get the service info. It's not likely had much done to it yet. I'd guess two oil changes and 1 rear diff change, if the PO followed the MM.

I suggest you do a complete fluid/filter change if you can't get that info. Switch over to the new DW-1 tranny fluid too.

You can save a lot of $$ if you are a DIYer.

Ask here if you have any questions about your RL and/or maintenance questions.

Welcome to the ROC & a great find!!

Being about 6 years old... I would think about having all the fluids changed... radiator... brake ... as well..

Good Luck

Change all the fluids and coolant. Odds are with that kind of mileage it spent 90% of its life doing short hops into town and rarely warmed up. Also, the timing belt may need to be replaced soon due to age.

Welcome to the ROC. That's a great color on a great truck. Hope you enjoy it more than the previous owner did (or didn't get a chance to according to such low mileage).

Wow, that is low mileage! Congratulations! Acquired a one owner 2006 amazon green with 35800 miles about 3-4 months ago, I thought i found a low miler! Ironically the truck was last serviced in BCS Honda dealership by the original owner. I recommend pulling a car fax and the other report from equifax to get service history. It gave me great pease of mind knowing service history of truck. The person who sold the truck to me was the nephew of the original owner who passed away. May she rest in pease. I live in Jersey Village area and my nephew is a sophomore at A&M. (comes from an LSU father)

I actually got all the service records from the dealership in College Station...they had them all. The people that had it only put roughly 3000 miles on it every 6 months then had the oil changed. It had 5 oil changes at the dealership. 2 recalls were completed, and a new Honda battery installed last year.
I got it from CarMax, and they also changed the oil, as did I when I got it as I wanted Mobil 1 Synthetic in it. As it turned out, 3 of the oil changes the dealership did were Mobil 1 also.
I logged all the service history from day one on the Honda Owners site.
This was a really luicky find, and I'm very pleased so far.

I have a neice and nephew that are A&M grads. My son, who is in the Navy (submarine service) is a hard core UT fan. You can imagine the verbage when UT plays A&M

I'm curious if CarMax reset the MM when they did the oil change? Are they familiar with the system?

Congrats! It's like a barn find 6 yr. old car with less than 3K a year! I thought my 2008 with 30K was low.

Enjoy the forum, there are lots of great upgrades shown here. I've burned a hole in my credit cards already and I haven't even gotten to the great billet aluminum pieces by "S5 Dude".

Welcome!

I'm not sure if they reset it or not, and I'm really not sure how I could tell.
When I had them dial up the service they did on it proir to sale, it showed they changed the oil, along with some detail work, but didn't show anything about setting the MM.

When I talked to the service manager at the dealership in College Station re: service records, he said I would be good to go til 30,000 when a full fluid change would be due. If the MM doesn't pop up before then, thats the schedule I will follow and reset the MM then.

I'm about to bust 20,000 on it now...and enjoying every mile.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Welcome. I always said if Honda made a truck I would buy it, and I did. I have a 2007 RTL with 80,000 miles and I love it. We're a Honda family. You'll find a lot of great information. I spend most of my time in the maintenance or modification areas. Take care.
