Hockey Dad 12-27-2005, 12:23 PM OK I don't know about you but I have washed this rig more than my 4 year old Lab..LOL
She looks so nice when she is clean but this salt is nasty! I am washing at least once a week now! I just ordered my window vents can't wait to put them on I just want to make sure I don't blow them off when I am washing it.
Anyone else experencing the wash a week salt blues???;)
gweppy 12-27-2005, 12:47 PM i know that feeling, i am washing once or twice a week myself
tedridge 12-27-2005, 01:15 PM I've got a Black Ridge too and live in the north east. I've given up trying to keep the exterior clean until spring. I think the truck looks cool all dirty and used anyway....though you're right about the black looking sweet when it's clean.
cdepuydt 12-27-2005, 03:10 PM I'm right with ya tedridge. I live in S. WI, we've had several 3+ inch snowfalls, followed up by cold temps., and they have been salting the heck outta the roads (I heard on the radio this am, that they have already used more salt this year than all of last year). I run my RL though the local car wash (Probably about once a week), that has the undercarriage flush, just to get the salt off of the undercarriage. Of course, getting all that salt off the rest of the vehicle doesn't hurt either.
It was fairly nice over the weekend (Mid to upper 30's, no wind), so I took the opportunity to wash, towel dry, and spray/quick wax my RL. Can't wait until it's nice enough to do the polish/wax thing.
I hear ya! Here's our lovely Christmas picture

DIDO ON BLACK !!! ....
Truckin' 12-27-2005, 07:37 PM I love your winter photo, Hez.
gonzo's rt 12-28-2005, 07:07 PM That is the problem with black cars. They show dirt so much! After having owned one a few years back (a Mustang GT), I will never get another black car, (even though they look great...as long as they are clean!).
Zemog 12-29-2005, 07:45 AM Like your winter photo, Hez. It's nice being able to put a face with a name. :)
SmokyMtnRidger 12-29-2005, 08:25 AM After living in Pittsburgh for 11 years I can tell you that I had a lot of different vehicles with different colors and they all needed to be washed as often as possible to keep the salt off the vehicles! What a rust bucket of a place to live.
I guess I am in the minority, I like to vacuum and wash my vehicles every week whether they look like they need it or not. I am one of those people that like things clean, my hubby could wash the truck probably once a year and be happy. The only problem I have is that when the temperatures drop it is difficult to sometimes find a place to wash your car!
Clean or dirty, it is a pleasure to drive a Honda!
steveberger 12-29-2005, 08:49 AM Someone wrote on this board a long, long time ago...
There are two times when an owner loves the way his black vehicle looks. The day he picks it up at the dealer and the day he sells it.

LOL:eek: Yeah, I know what you mean. Black cars. been there, done that. When I move south next year, then and only then, would I consider Black again. But, I love my Green more and more every day.:D

cdepuydt 12-29-2005, 03:22 PM Like Smokey said.....I too am probably in the minority. I don't necessarily wash/vacuum/wax my vehicles when they aren't dirty, but I do enjoy washing/waxing/vaccuming/detailing my vehicles. When it is warm out, if it were up to me, I would spend all weekend detailing my vehicles. My wife thinks I have a screw loose, and I probably do, but I do enjoy making my vehicles look nice.
I guess everybody has their "quirks".....like my neighbor loves to keep his lawn green an manicured. Even last year, when it was really dry here in S. WI, he was out there watering and fertilizing, making his lawn look like a golf course. Mine looked like a section of prairie....it was brown, had all different height grass/weeds, and pretty much looked like crap....because I refused to spend that kinda money paying for city water just to keep my lawn looking nice. But, I'll tell you one thing....when we had all that hot, dry, weather, my vehicles were almost as shiney and looked almost as good as the day they came off the dealers lot! :)

LMAO! You are so funny! There are a ton of things that I LOVE and MISS about da Burgh. Penguins, Primanti Bros., bars on the South Side, but rust isn't one of them.
You're moving south? Where are you going? I had a recruiter call me today asking if I was interested in the northeast. Told her that they couldn't pay me enough. She laughed in her New Yahk accent and said she lives in Florida now! lol As for color, I love the green; actually I love Ridgeline in any color. My last Honda was silver, so that is why I didn't get silver this time; ya know variety is the spice of life and all.:p

BKLYNBOY11 12-30-2005, 07:46 AM First of all, a Ridgeline only comes in BLACK:D Have a dilema, won't go through a car wash and car is full of salt, waited till 12/28 and finally got to hand wash it. Weather was so balmy, (50 degrees), I put a nice coat of Maguires wax on it. Now I remember why I chose BLACK, Truck looked awsome. Then it rained all the next day:mad:

My last truck was a metallic red, so I was looking for something other than that. Black and white both show too much dirt around here and I thought if I see enough green vehicles on base so it was silver blue or red. The accord is silver, so two silver Hondas in the driveway would look like we had a complex so I was looking at red and blue (and really wanted the blue). Then I kept looking and the red just looked so sharp and the blue more subdued that I decided on red.
The funny thing was when I picked it up and dropped off my old truck in trade, they were next to each other and they are the EXACT same color! I guess that means I really like it... lol
