Can you open the in-bed trunk with Bed extender installed?

Can the in-bed trunk be opened with the bed extender installed (with the extender swinged into the bed--for tieing up grocery bags or place some small cargo/boxes and not to have to jump into the bed to get them)?

I have all these questions and I don't have (Ridgeline) ride. Yet!

Thanks.

Yes but you must remove the bed extender which slips out of the brackets easily while vertical. :)

I was wondering about that myself. I got the bed extender for Christmas - haven't installed it yet. Tomorrow we're to be in the 60's here in Denver... good install day.

As a follow-up to LadyRidge's post with pics, the bed extender is quite easy to remove from the rear mounting (for those of you that don't already know, there is a set of brackets that installs the extender near the front wall of the bed also). The pins on each side that fit into the mounting brackets have two flat spots that allow you the remove it quickly by simply rotating the extender to vertical, and raising it up out of the brackets, then pulling it rearward out of the recesses in the side walls. This way you by-pass the latch mechanism. You can reverse the procedure to reinstall it.

We are in the process of a significant rebuilding of our website so please excuse the dust, but you can view a short video (http://www.cdcgraphics.com/ROCStuff.html) that shows how easy it is to remove the extender. From the linked page, click on "Bed Extender Video."

NOTE: you must have the tailgate dropped open, not swung open, otherwise you will not be able to pull the extender out of the recesses.

COOL!
Nicely done, TT and JC!

Ok, so this list of things I want/need for this truck just keeps growing and growing. I think CR3ATIV is going to ban me from the site until I can figure out a way to pay for all of this.

I always keep my extender in the forward position unless I'm actually using it to extend the bed. This allows for full access to the trunk, plus I can always toss something up in the cage if necessary.

Here are a couple of pics.
The 1st is the extender in the front position.

The 2nd is of the Kryptonite lock (through the upper tie-down) I use to make sure its there when I need it.

Hi gang! Does the Bed Extender bounce around or make any racket that you can hear while driving? Thanks...

Ah - the beauty of marketing - of course, I haven't had enough coffee this morning, so it took me a good five minutes of thinking about AMEX and what you do w/ it - "never leave home without it..."

So - what are you going to do with your computer? INTEL is dropping "Intel Inside" - for "Leap Ahead" ... just some useless trivia for the last day of the year.

Cool lock, where did you get it? I have been worried about someone stealing my bed extender since I got it.

Its an old Kryptonite bike lock. Just threaded it to the upper tie down.

I think the dims on my lock are 4" x 11.5".

hmmm.. i just ordered it. but the only reason i got it was to put in behind my 4wheeler. only i am seeing now, based on that video, that it must be installed from the inside of the truck and rotated outward.. which is not going to be possible to do with my 4wheeler in it.

i thought i could easily remove it, ride my bike up into the back of the truck, and then put the extender back on behind it.. is that possible?????

Yes, it's very easy to remove and reattach it.

Before I purchase the bed extender I am going to look at folding ladders, some are advertised on tv.A ladder like that may be less expensive and could be used as a ramp to load and unload my scooter.I could uses the ladder around the house also.

KoP, I use my bed extender all the time and it is very easy to install even with a full load of the truck, it does not have to be in the upright podition only so there will be no problem with your ATV .
