I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced an engine knock/grate/thud noise when the enigine has just started and has been running for about 5 seconds. I have noticed a couple of times and it sounds very unhealthy. It almost sounds like a gear shift without the use of a clutch. I have not placed the truck in gear just letting it warm up when I hear the noise.

You sure the noise isn't the AC compressor turning on if you have your CC on?

I had the same concern. The dealer says it the ABS system calibrating. It always does it at start up, but is more noticeable when it's a cold start.

I noticed the same noise on my RL when I picked it up from the dealership. The salesman also told me it was the ABS doing a self check. My 2004 Accord makes a similar noise at start up. So I believe that the noise you are hearing is a normal sound on Honda's with ABS.
