Painted Side Moldings

I just got off the phone with sportwing and they are now offering painted moldings for the Ridgeline. These are not like the factory two strips per side, these are one molding strip(two piece) per side that is placed between the side indention. The kit is 2 1/2 inch wide and 4 piece set. I had previously purchased a set for my Element (RIP) that matched well and seemed to be a quality product. I'm not sure how a single molding strip would look between the indentions. Sportwing has posted a better photo of the moldings that I have pasted below.
I have no interest in this company, I'm just sharing info on aftermarket items available for the Ridgeline.

Thanks for the info. I'm interested in some after markets side protection.

That link in your post forced me to search through their website and it took me several attempts to get to the right location. The photo of their product is hardly worth the effort. You can't see it well enough to tell what is attached. I hope they get a better pic up soon.

Here's a link that might save the effort I had to put into my search of their site:

http://www.sportwing.com/catalog/displaycat.pcgi?fm_catid=22&fm_subcatid=103

Then you just click on choose your vehicle under the silver car and you'll find the Ridgeline link. For some reason the link to that page isn't working. You have to take this extra step.

I am interested in these also. The Honda side protectors are too expensive and the upper one appears to be sort of redundant since most of the parking lot dings would be protected by the lower molding. I almost wouldnt mind going in halves with another ROC member for the OEM Honda moldings, I just want the lowers. Would that look totally whacked ... ? I would sure like to see some better pics of these aftermarket protectors, close up and in each Ridgeline color. I am not able to see this one on the White RL at all.

That molding looks pretty sharp. I wish I would have seen this before buying the way overpriced Honda moldings.

After looking at the picture, it looks like the molding is installed above the lower indentation.

How did the install of these go on your Element? Good instructions, everything in the kit, etc? Were they just installed using adhesive like the honda ones? One last question, did they stay on solid without coming loose or having to be reattached? Thanks for any additional info.

Your eyes must be better than mine. :) I seriously can't see them. Even downloaded the photo and enlarged it and still can't tell anything.

The install was easy with the adhesive backed moldings. The trick is having your alignment marks correctly placed. I used the top edge of blue masking tape to lay in the moldings. The paint matched the Elements color perfectly. Hurricane Wilma's flood totaled the car, so I can't speak of the long term strength of the adhesive.
I'm going to wait for a better picture before I decide to go with these moldings. I'm sure about the quality of the molding, I'm just unsure how one strip is going to look on the Ridgeline.

Thanks EzRider for the additional info on the sportwing aftermarket Body Side Moldings. I went to http://www.elementownersclub.com and did a search on the boards for sportwing, there are alot of sportwing customers over there that are happy with their BSM.
After doing more researching on it, I decided to go with the Honda OEM ones after all, just ordered from HandA. I read many posts from new vehicle owners that were experiencing parking lot dings higher up on their doors due to all of the 4WD/SUV/Trucks out there now. I think the thick upper and lower moldings of the honda oem BSM offers better protection of each door from the inevitable parking mishaps. Looks was less of a factor for me, but I also thought the Honda moldings look a little "beefier" to go with the RL image. The sportwing unit does have a much lower cost and is good quality protection. Either way you go, body side moldings are cheap insurance and will pay for themselves many times over with all of the damage they prevent.

I looked at the moldings but instead also had the Honda moldings installed. I'm very happy with the looks and the installation by the dealer, was charged at the one hour rate (according to the Honda rate book) and I also had the running boards installed on my Silver Ridgeline (also at a one hour rate.

They look great, I'm pleased with the dealer's work, and they look great on the Ridgeline. While both were expensive, keeping door-dents to a minimum were more important to me.

Me either - they might do a lot more business on those if they had a higher resolution picture and a truck with a color that could actually show them off!

Hey everyone,

Sportswing is a local company here in the Cleveland Ohio and by chance I know the owners who are very good guys. I also just had them put a nice pin stripe on my RL this morning thanks to some pictures I saw here on ROC and I think they look pretty nice. At some point I will get some pictures when my RL is all cleaned up.

I actually spoke to them about the moldings this morning, and for those who can't see them in the pictures, they mount between the two indentations in the doors. It would be a single molding mounted in between the two indentations. I haven't decided if I am going to do that yet or not. I am a little slow to making changes to my RL.

Just a little info. I hope this helps.
