Always Replace Rear Roof Trim Clips and Grommets [Archive]

Anytime you adjust, remove, or detach the rear roof trim on a ’06 Ridgeline, you’ve got to replace the clips and grommets. This also applies if you’re doing any of these procedures:
• R & R of the bed floor or bed side
• R & R of the C-pillar outer trim
• R & R of the EVAP canister
• Installation of the tonneau cover
• Installation of the back-up sensor
• Installation of the rearview camera
The clips and grommets lose half of their holding strength the first time they’re detached. If you forget to replace them, the rear roof rim could tear off the vehicle while driving down the road.

If you are talking about the trim piece that houses the third brakelight, it has two nuts on either side to hold it in place. I just removed this to install a sattellite antenna. I did replace the clips and added a tiny bit of clear silicone to the grommets. it was a piece of cake..
