I'm looking to purchase BasicKoncepts Bed Cover. I have read all the other threads and need some insight. Everyone talks about the talegate lock. Am I to understand that our Ridgelines did not come from the factory with one installed? Also, some people talk about the tailgate gasket. Living in snow country, I am wondering if that is needed? I understand the cover will not be 100% watertight, but do you need the gasket to complete the best seal? Need some thoughts and in sights would be very helpful.

Sorry to hear you are just finding out that the tailgate doesn't have a factory lock but it's true. I've been trying to find out if Pop & Lock (http://www.popandlock.net/) is going to make one for it.

The basickoncepts tailgate lock works fine, & their electric lock (about $70) is automatically activated (locked & unlocked) with the rest of your doors using your Ridgeline key fob. There are mucho posts on the subject if your use the search feature. Many comments have been made about it being a little 'flimsy' . . . and that's not inaccurate with respect to the mounting plate material (light sheet metal), but it bolts securely up against the tailgate if you install it properly, and works just great (at least mine does!). The "robustness" of the design & material selection are adequate to the purpose, if not satisfying to the critical, "grunt-minded" eye.
