phototech11 01-11-2006, 06:49 PM Trying to find out how many ROC members are in Texas....like to see if we can plan a meet some where soon. We can get together for some real Texas style BBQ. I am in the North Dallas area but if we are all spread apart the great big state of ours we could come up with a central meeting spot.
shortspark 01-11-2006, 07:30 PM I am located about 40 miles north of Tyler in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Anytime, anyplace - just let me know.
SmokyMtnRidger 01-11-2006, 07:41 PM Hey Shortspark - I went to Kilgore College when I first got out of high school. Great area! Good Luck with your alls meet and greet.

TommyDeVito 01-15-2006, 10:40 PM I'm in the Dallas area, so let me know as well.
Lingered_I 01-15-2006, 11:30 PM Sorry guys'n'gals - I was a little late picking up on this thread. Here's where y'all is at, and here's hoping you can fix up a meet.
Not shown due to name overlay is jeffiam - top/right under 'Sheetrok' - sorry Jeff.
For anyone else not shown, well get yourself over to the zip code thread. (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2235) Optional of course. :)
It looks to me that H-Town is winning the ol' push pin contest.
shortspark 01-17-2006, 04:32 AM Well Buff, it is all relative. Houston has what, about 4 or 5 million people in the general area - maybe more. Dallas/Ft. Worth and San Antonio also have millions. In my little spot out here in East Texas there may be 25,000 people in the entire county. It would take hundreds of Ridgelines in Houston to match the ratio of drivers to vehicles that we have in the "Pinney Woods".
We have two registered members here in the general area and there appears to be only seven or eight in Houston. So who is "winning" is all a matter of how you want to play with the numbers.
Outfitter 01-17-2006, 06:59 AM Someone say BBQ? I love pigsicles!!!!!!! Count me in, I am in the southern part of the metromess (Mansfield) and have Ridge, will travel. Lets get operation porkchop cooking.:D
I hear you Shortspark. I was just trying to throw barbs up at the Metroplex area. I am a relative newcomer to Texas and I always laugh at the rivalry between the two areas. Truth is, I think I would rather be in the Piney Woods area or West Texas or the Hill Country versus here.
shortspark 01-17-2006, 10:38 AM I know what you are saying. I've been to Houston a time or two and there are too many people, too much traffic, well, just too much of everything. I spent over 20 years in the Dallas area and could not wait until I retired in 1995. The "Pinney Woods" of East Texas are full of deer and the lakes are full of big bass -- can't ask for more than that. I never experience crime, stop and go traffic, pollution or any of the other things that the big city has. We don't have a movie theater in our county but I don't mind driving the beautiful countryside to get to one about 40 miles away. You have to do without a lot of things near-by but it's worth it.
I hope someone suggests a good meeting place. There was a thread about this last summer and the Hill Country was brought up but it never got off the ground. If that is still a viable option, maybe someone from the Austin/San Antonio area can chime in with some thoughts.
BannedUser 01-17-2006, 10:47 AM Sorry guys'n'gals - I was a little late picking up on this thread. Here's where y'all is at, and here's hoping you can fix up a meet.
You sure don't talk like you type. :D
Not that I am an Aggie or anything like that but the College Station area seems like a good central location. Is there a Red Robin there?
Lingered_I 01-17-2006, 07:11 PM You sure don't talk like you type. :D
LOL! I've been busted...er...I mean, it's a fair cop guv'ner. Cor blimey.:D Right, stop that. It's silly. Very silly indeed.
phototech11 01-23-2006, 11:45 PM I am thinkin' maybe Dublin, Texas...Home of the Dr. Pepper Factory....what says Texas more than Dr. Pepper....so what do ya'll think of that???
That would a nice Picture...a row of Ridgelines in downtown Dublin in front of the Dr. Pepper place.
shortspark 01-24-2006, 05:57 AM Well, I guess I could look on the map but I would rather keep this thread going so I'll ask the question: where is Dublin?
Looks to be about 2 hours NW of Waco and about 6 hours from Houston.
2dobes 01-24-2006, 03:25 PM Another member from The Woodlands, here.
May I suggest Huntsville? It's about midway from Houston to Dallas, where most of the members reside. There's a State Park there where we can cook out. We could all even head up to the state penitentiary museum for a little looksee. We could get a picture of all the RL's in front of the prison. Nothing, not even Dr. Pepper, says Texas better than a good 'ole execution.:D
SmokyMtnRidger 01-24-2006, 07:19 PM As you all know, hubby is a native San Antonian and I lived there for four years. I would suggest Fredericksburg which is in the Hill Country for a meet. It is close enough also to Austin (78 miles away) and San Antonio (69 miles away) for all of the action and festivities there. Kerrville and Comfort are also close towns, but not as touristy as Fredericksburg. When I went to Kilgore College I lived in Longview. Nice enough area but not as fun as other areas.
While I love being here in my native Tennessee, you guys are making me yearn for my adopted Texas roots. I actually bought some bluebonnet seeds at Home Depot the other day and am planting a spot of them this year!
Outfitter 01-25-2006, 11:19 AM [QUOTE=SmokyMtnRidger] When I went to Kilgore College I lived in Longview.
A Rangerette SMR? (sp?) Cute outfits!:D
IShootPics 01-26-2006, 10:11 PM I guess I need to check in.. another Houstonian. :o
If you guys want to meet up, I can make a few suggetions...
West Lake or just anywhere in w/nw Austin is great. Lots of scenery and places to eat/things to do.
Conroe/Liberty/Livingston for the Houston area.. give the Dallas guys a break and atleast its got trees and water.
We could all head to Crystal Beach/Boliver and play in the sand a bit for an afternoon.
College Station is probably the most "central", but its so freakin bland. :p nothing really out there except college students and suburban housing.
phototech11 04-26-2006, 10:13 AM Lets start getting things rollin fellow Texans.....
We need to all agree on a location...Anyone been to Sam Houston National Forest near Hunstville, TX. Seems to be central to Dallas, Austin and Houston.
Any other ideas that look central to everyone????
TexasRL 04-26-2006, 10:51 AM I'm from Beaumont (77713) about 1.5 hours east of Houston.
TexasRL 04-26-2006, 10:57 AM The beach at Galveston or Crystal Beach/Boliver would be great for a meet. Sun,Bar-be-que,water,sand...The benefit to Crystal beach is you can drive on it for miles.BYOB.
shortspark 04-26-2006, 11:40 AM I live in the Piney Woods of E. Texas, about 40 miles north of Tyler. My vote is for the Hill Country area around New Braunfels, Austin, San Antonio, etc. However, if someone organizes this thing and picks a spot, any spot, I'll be there.
KoJawn 04-28-2006, 01:20 AM OK, old post I know but I am in Fort Worth Texas. Outfitter pointed me to this site we met in Burleson and I ahve seen about 5 in that rather small town.
Hornsfan 04-28-2006, 08:01 AM I am in San Antonio, I noticed there are a couple of us here and Converse. I would like to go too. Maybe in Austin. I see alot of group meets at Rudys B-B-Q. Have any of you ever had it??? It's great. Let me know hopefully I can get off work:eek:
AdCast7 04-28-2006, 09:33 AM IM in the Galveston - Houston area!!!!!
shortspark 04-28-2006, 01:06 PM Well, we've got owners in N. Texas, E. Texas, etc. Seems to me that it would make sense to try for a central location then. Austin area would be my vote for a central location (I understand there are great golf courses down in that area - hint!!)
TexasRL 04-30-2006, 10:11 AM I still vote for the beach...it's summer and we can drive up and down the beach.

You started it, you're Charles in charge!

Hey KoJawn,
Glad you came aboard. Lots of great info and super folks on here. I guess we can have mini meets in Burleson at lunch until someone puts a big one together.:D
Tim1954Tinman 05-04-2006, 11:30 PM Have any of you considered a meet at a colorful Balloon Festival?
Third Heritage Balloon Festival in Palestine
The third annual Heritage Balloon Festival, featuring more than 30 hot-air balloons, will take place June 2, 3 and 4 at the Palestine Municipal Airport.
The event, sponsored by the Museum for East Texas Culture, will offer tethered balloon rides on Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as children's activities, karate and self-defense demonstrations, a car show and other activities.
A balloon glow will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights. saturday and Sunday mornings the inflation of the balloons and mass ascension of the balloons will take place at 6:30 a.m.
Internationally known balloonist John Ninomiya's cluster balloon will attempt to launch at 7 a.m. Saturday.
The Palestine Municipal Airport is located North of Palestine off of U.S. Highway 287 North on Country Road 421.
There is a $5 per car charge for admission to the airport. It will be used to benefit the festival and the Museum fro East Texas Culture.
==========================================
Then there is the big one in this area, the Great Texas Balloon Race http://greattexasballoonrace.com/ in Longview Texas on July 14-16.
Three of my classmates own balloons, and one of them took me up once. What a thrill to kiss the ground! :D
shortspark 05-05-2006, 07:10 AM Hey Redrock, that ballon thing sounds like it would be fun. If people wanted to golf, I could get them into Holly Lake Ranch Golf Club which as you know is only an hour and a half from Palestine. The golf fees are only $35 and that ain't bad for a private course. Then again, maybe there are not any golfers in the group so that might not work. Anyway, there is a thread that was recently started where votes are being cast for a location.

I am not a golfer, but that is great idea to offer other a place they can play, shortspark.
I should contact the classmate that not only owns her own balloon, Jellybean the last picture in my previous message, but she also owns her own balloon repair station in Marshall, and ask her if there are other Balloon Festivals in Texas and when. I know she goes all over and is in a LOT of the festivals.
I don't mind getting up early and being at the Great Texas Balloon Race, but some might not like being there at 6:30 a.m., and normally the balloons are really coming over the field about 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. trying to get the money. There is just nothing like seeing colorful balloons fly.
I will contact Micki, of Micki's Balloon Repair, and see if there are other festivals in Texas and when.
RidgeNAustin 05-13-2006, 09:39 PM My wife and I are brand new Ridge owners in Austin, and we would certainly like to meet other owners of this awesome truck.
I'll keep watch on this thread.
shortspark 05-14-2006, 05:26 AM There are a few of us around the Tyler area. One owner from Plano has a lake home near Tyler and offered to host a get together there for eating, drinking and fishing. I live about 35 miles from him and could get a golf outing together at the club I live at. However, since we are so far out, we were thinking of doing this just for East Texas owners, and maybe those from Dallas. I would have to contact the lake home owner to see how many he could handle.
shortspark 05-19-2006, 03:25 PM Bump! We need some replies.
Hornsfan 05-24-2006, 04:22 PM I think the balloon thing sounds neat. I also like the beach idea...we go to port A alot in the summer... come on you guys lets do somthing!

phototech11 10-10-2006, 06:35 AM I have been emailing with a few of the members in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and I am looking to have a meet more than likely at a dealership here in Frisco, TX(near Plano). I dont want to brag about my dealer but I think they are awesome. After we meet there we can head out to lunch, golf, RoughRider game or what ever we decide. Something for the whole family...I know all the wife's and girlfriends would want to go to Ikea...which is right next door to my dealer.
Anyone interested????
If so please hit me up with an email: phototech11@verizon.net
Look forward to hearing from you!

That sounds great to me phototech. Set it up, post when and where and I'll be there (I live about 40 miles north of Tyler). Lets play at either WestRidge, Firewheel or Pecan Hollow. I've played Pecan before but never the others - they say they're good courses.
Txroadcyclist 10-12-2006, 10:46 AM Howdy all,
I'm the proud new owner of a silver RT Ridgeline and I love it, however, the dealer I bought it from backed another car into it last Tuesday. I took it in because a blowing rain stained my seats and armrest (has anyone else ever had that happen.) Anyway, while in the service bay, an employee backed into the front of my Ridgeline, cracking the bumper and placing a half dollar sized dent in my hood. At least I don't have to wonder what the first blemish will be. Its still in the shop as of this writing but I can tell you that despite my initial frustration, the dealer offered to pay for some Wet Okole seat covers. I accepted their offer. I'm driving a rental (dealer paid) 06 Ford F-150 and it does not even come close to my Ridgeline in terms of style, comfort, ride or even performance. I have owned several Ford trucks in the past and their quality has gone way down. Despite the rocky start, I do enjoy the Ridgeline and the service from the dealer is good.
I live in the Austin area and I've seen only a few other Ridgelines on the road. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I appreciate this website.

Welcome to ROC! Yea, you got off to a rough start to say the least. I can't believe the dealer was so careless. As far as blowing rain is concerned I assume you had the window closed - Right!? Or were you caught with your pants, I mean I mean windows down? There have been some problems reported with water entering the cab at certain areas but these were mostly in early production trucks. I have not heard of similar reports in late 2006 or 2007 models. But if the windows were up and water entered your cab there are several threads here that address them and show the Honda fix - just do a search. If the windows were down, well, a little rain should not hurt our treated leather seats but you have cloth I think in your model. With dirt and dust and other pollution/contaimenants in the air associated with blowing rain, I would not be surprised your seats were stained. As long as the dealer is fixing everything I would not worry too much about it.
Hopefully, if we ever get a real Texas ROC meeting, be sure to plan on joining us. Good luck with your new Ridgeline!!
Txroadcyclist 10-12-2006, 01:01 PM Hi shortspark,
The rain blew in when I opened the driver door and stepped into the truck. Also I was wearing a rain jacket and it also dripped onto seat and armrest. The seats are cloth and became stained even though I waited about seven hours to give them a chance to dry. My Ridgeline does not leak anywhere (that I'm aware of.) The Wet Okole seat covers that the dealer is buying are neoprene (i.e. waterproof) and are custom fit for the Ridgeline. They are well planned out because they do not hinder the side impact airbags. I'm looking forward to getting them.

IWILLGETTHERE 02-14-2007, 09:25 PM I just wanted to introduce myself as a pround new Ridgeline owner here in Texas. I have not seen a whole lot of Ridgelines in this area as a matter of fact I have only seen 1 silver and 1 blue ridge and that is it. It is actually pretty awesome to own a vehicle that not many people own it makes it just that much more unique. I work 6-7 days a week so chances of me and my wife meeting up for an outing is slim but please keep updated we will try to make at least one.
