I had the sequence wrong not the part.
I went to pick up Drew and his friend tonight from snowboarding and while sitting in the driveway waiting for his friend to get all his snowboarding stuff out of the bed of the truck, I said "Todd, turn the truck off. Now turn it on but don't start it. Hold the main lock button down as if you were going to unlock the truck and wait for 2 clicks instead of the 1 we did at the dealer today. "
We started it back up, pulled out of the driveway and the first stop sign we came to Todd put it in park!!
OMG I was so excited. I never have to worry about unlocking the doors again.
Thanks Harry and Link.

I'm not sure if it's the part or just the set up. I would suggest trying to set it up first just to see what happens. The part they put in was the exact same part they took out.
Let me know what you do. :)

If you can wait until Saturday night, I'll post pics. In the meantime get part 38200-SJC-A12 (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=64031&postcount=99) ordered. Mine took around 2 1/2 weeks to come in.

Now wait a minute...
You didn't put in your new part and it still worked?
Or you did put in your new part which was the wrong part (A11), and it still worked?

What's up? I'm sure you have an older build, right?

JC: Has anyone suggested an explanation for this? Has Honda possibly made the 'correction' on the old part number as well as the new part number?

5S: She was responding to my question about her build date. I'm sure #1830 is her VIN, meaning she has a very early build (pre-March).

It doesn't make sense, since the manual states only drivers side door unlock.

Okay guys,

My Lady has asked me to try and explain what we did to get the "all unlock" to work. Please read completely before beginning.

- First, with all doors closed, turn ignition to "off";

- then turn ignition past "accessories" to "on" do not start;

- press and hold driver's unlock button, click is heard and doors will unlock, keep holding, in 3 to 4 seconds another click as unlock engages again, keep holding, in another 3 to 4 seconds, a third click, then release.

- turn ignition to "off"

- start truck and test.

Hope this helps.

P.S.: I don't have the answers as to why it appears that the replacement part, which is supposedly the same as what was replaced, seems to work.

Good Luck.

Bizaro! I just went out and followed the printed steps and never heard the third click! So we must need to purchase this new part and have it installed for this "All doors unlock" to occurr. Correct?

I know this is very confusing..it is for us.
We ordered what I thought was the correct part but it turned out to be just a "replacement part" according to the threads here. We are flying by the seat of our pants on this one because the dealer is stumped as well. I wish I could be more clear.

The first click is the click you here when you unlock the doors....then there are 2 more clicks that are much softer....I can't think of any other way to explain it. I'm sorry.

No Problem at all J.C. Living in Ana-crime CA, It's probably better that the driver side unlocks only anyways so you have less of a chance to get car jacked! Besides, Cindy’s already trained me to push the unlock button before we come to a complete stop anyways! I’m soooo domesticated huh?:D :p :D

My best guess is you got the A12 part even though the A11 was ordered since Honda stopped making the A11 some time ago and was not even in stock several months ago.

The replacement part is what should have been the original part. I only get 2 clicks. If Honda is paying, I requested this on 12/06 when box was unavailable. Time to contact dealer.

I think this may be a reasonable explanation based off of my experience. I have a 04/05 build date and tried the steps outlined in these posts three times with no luck.

I have ordered other Honda parts with different part numbers but were the exact same thing, just for different Hondas. Perhaps the A12 was/is for the Pilot or MDX and the A11 is for the Ridgeline, but both parts work in either vehicle. This may explain why a newer A11 was able to unlock all the doors. Honda changed the output of the A11 but kept the number identification the same and the A12 was always able to unlock all the doors. Either way, what was the cost of the A11, A12, and installation?

:) Mine Work!!! Make sure you Lock all doors first from the drivers side. Push lock button down to forward side ( front of truck direction ) to lock all doors. Turn key to On, but don't Start. I held the button down, to the unluck side ( back of truck direction) for 30 seconds. There where several clicks and it works. Started truck all OK.

ALL Doors Lock and Unlock from Drivers Door. It doesn't change the key remote but it works at the door correctly.

My build date of 8/05 doesnt work, but my aftermarket remote starter/alarm unlocks all doors when I turn the key to off, so I am pretty happy with that.

What is your build date?

Every Ridgeline will lock and unlock the doors for the driver's door. What some of us early build Ridgeline owners are trying to do with out ordering a new part is to get all the doors to automatically unlock when the Ridgeline is put in Park and not have to use the button on the door armrest.

63Tbird
01-24-2006, 11:48 AM
I had to push the unlock twice in order to unlock all the doors before I did this. Once for the front and a second time for the back. Now mine all unlock the first time I hit the button and all lock with one push of the button. As far as putting it in park and having them all unlock. No this does not happen. I still have to push the unlock, but now they all unlock, not just the front doors.

Thought this was what you where trying to do. Build date is 5/05.

OK, received unit 38200 - SJC - A12 Fuse Box Assembly from my local Honda dealership today for the cost to me at $20.62. The list price is $24.93, the net price is $19.45. West virginia sales tax was $1.17 (6%). I really have to think there is a big mistake in pricing somewhere along the line here but who am I to question it... Now to install it as soon as possible and I really want to thank Lingered I for his "how to" help and pictures, they will be greatly appreciated. ;)

Just got am email asking what I did.. I did what Lady had on there.

No new part is on my truck. I cranked my truck. shut it off. Held the lock button down, I heard 2 clicks.

For humor I did it again.
I cranked the truck shut it off and held down the lock again and cranked the truck while holding down the unlock.
Now when I crank my truck and start moving all doors lock. When I stop the truck and put it in park, driver door unlocks. When I shut truck off remaining doors unlock. this i can live with. No more .."UNLOCK THE DOOR!! "
