kahnartist 01-20-2006, 01:27 PM Our beige RT interior cloth upholstery is getting trashed with my husband being filthy dirty from kitchen cabinet installs. He also drinks coffee in the truck and has spilled on the seats.
We want something over the seats, but not something that will inhibit the air bag system (which something fitted over the seats will do). Oh yeah, we don't want to spend a ton of money either.
Short of throwing tacky towels or stretching T-shirts over the seats or doing a protective upholstery spray, anyone have any ideas? Anything Target has that would work and is priced reasonably (like $25/35 bucks).
'In the day'....sheepskin seatcovers had hooks and the fur part just protected the seat and back...with the stretchy suspender straps that went over the back of the seat. Something like that would be perfect...but no one makes those anymore.
I have a sewing machine and sew (a lost art nowadays)...but doupt there are any seatcover patterns out there...but there could be....
Let yer ideas rip.
BillB 01-20-2006, 02:09 PM I too have made a mess out of my Ridgeline like your husband did and If I made this mess in my wife's fancy Volvo white leather seated SUV, there would be HELL to pay. Don't be too hard on him, this is just the way we are. I actually bought a replacement seat cover from Honda and when I can find the time, I will change it over. Cost was about $50 for the seat material and it takes a bit of work to undo some of the seat mechanicals to get at the install components so your Target seat covers with a bit of strapping will be easier to maintain but mine is going to look like a new seat for only a few dollars more. I have already treated it with 303 High tech fabric guard because I cannot be neat, that much I know.
mayfielh 01-20-2006, 02:19 PM Not that this will be much help if the stains have set for a while, but I stumbled on a product called Coral Blue Upholstery cleaner (blue can scrubber on top). I used it 2 days ago to get my dear daughter's chocolate fingerprint off of the rear seat that had been there unbeknownst to me for a few days. Result stain removed no discoloration happy Dad. :)
scottIN 01-20-2006, 02:50 PM Never seen them retail, but I use to sell these to my Mercedes Dealer-they gave them away with ML's. It's a heavy terry cloth with a hole for the headrest. They roll up for storage, are machine washable and don't attach with any straps or anything. Worked very well. We did them in black with a big Silver Star on them.
Here's a photo of a sample I had:
mayfielh 01-20-2006, 02:55 PM Here's a link to a similiar item, you just need to buy 36 of them :(
http://www.graphicice.com/index.php?action=prodspec&itemID=57333
We also have a new sponsor that might have something but I can't get the darn banner to come up.
T-Mac we really need the sponsors all listed on a link so we can go directly to them.

But if you buy them direct, you only have to buy 12. Terry Collection (http://www.terrycollection.com/carseatcovers.cfm?itemID=53)

Same thing-it's in the Promotional Product Industry. I can do smaller quantities of them if I embroider them in-house.

No, you can't buy them direct-you have to buy through an ASI distributor like me. Terry is one of the companies I represent.

I think I smell another item for the ROC merch page.:D
T-Mac let me introduce you to my friend ScottIN. He has a product that you might want to consider placing on the ROC Merch page.

Yeah, then I'd have to be a sponsor. :) When it comes to 'stuff'-if it's out there, I know where to find it. Today I've sold custom binders, magnets, T-shirts, caps, badge holders, bottled water, and a few other things...:D
mayfielh 01-20-2006, 03:33 PM Yeah, then I'd have to be a sponsor. :)
I don't think so the guy that does the decals isn't a sponsor just a supplier, I believe that's the same with the shirt guy. Might be worth a PM anyway.
I would be interested in something like this especially as we get closer to spring/summer and my Mtn. Bike comes out of hibernation.

YES, this has been a frustration for me too and I emailed T Mac a while ago with this request. Let's help our members support our sponsors by making it easy to get to them!
kahnartist, if that terry one is something you're interested in they have them at autosport catalog. I've ordered a few things from this company and have been pleased with the quality and the service.

So, if we could come up with an order for a dozen - would you be interested in placing it?
Anyone else interested?
Count me in for 2.

kahnartist 01-20-2006, 05:20 PM How much approximately for two of them? If we do a 'group buy'...it would be worth getting 12...
I like the idea of black (it won't show spills, etc) for the black truck. Beige would be ok....since they DO go in the machine. Would you embroider or do plain? Maybe embroider RIDGELINE in Beige thread??? Too many ideas....
Please get back to us and give us a price. I may be up for two of them as well.
PS: How to they 'attach' to the seat? Just remove headrest and put 'bib' over top and that is how it stays put?
Thanks for suggestions all!

I would be interested in one if a group buy is done.

Try Sparkle glass cleaner.. My grandma enlightend us kids on its uses. It is pretty much usless as glass cleaner, but take all of the following off of carpet, and has aslo worked on my cloth couch. ... crayons, silly string stains, Grape juice, dog footprints and pet vomit, paint, drywall mud, grease from my stepsons car. Finger prints off of walls..etc.. etc.. give it a try, we use it most every weekend when our grandson comes over.... he has a habit of throwing his sippie cup contents all over the place including all over the ridge! Just use a clean cloth, or paper towel & scub back & forth... Enjoy:)
signman 01-22-2006, 09:22 AM I will be towing a small race car this season (a '37 Ford Legend) and I am concerned about messing up the driver's seat after a night of racing.
I just ordered one of the Elite Sport Seat Shileds I described above. I will post an update when it arrives.
woodco 02-08-2006, 06:08 PM If you can sew..Buy a set of cheap seat covers at wall mart, and slice them up the side.
Hem the slice so it doesnt unravel, and sew on a couple of pieces of velcro to each side,,,?????
