Suggestions (Requests?) for H-and-A ROC Specials

Trevor, I believe a similar thread was started over at the EOC of member suggestions for future month's H-and-A club specials...

If you're looking for suggestions for February, I'd suggest (actually beg for) a special on the Honda Hitch and wiring harness for the Ridgeline.

I get my annual performance bonus check in early February, and a portion of it is already reserved for the hitch and wiring harness.

Waiting patiently for February to arrive! :D

I second this suggestion!

This is my next mod. I've already done the bug shield and the mud flaps.

I'd like to see the hitch on sale myself, Iwant the oem b/c I think it looks better than some of the others. But $$$ is $$$

Hitch is a great idea!

I know shipping will cost $$$$, since the hitch is oversized!

I shopped every where I could find.

What was included?

Honda Hitch
Honda Wire Harness
Honda Ball
Honda Locking hitch pin

Cheapest I could find (including shipping) was $448.80

Anything less than that would be a deal!

I would be happy to just get the hitch and harness (minus ball and pin.) Would that reduce the weight enough to reduce shipping?

I'll look into it and see what we could do. Removing those items shouldn't affect the shipping. UPS uses the size of items to also calculate the shipping and the hitch is so large that they bill it as a 90 lb item AND they charge an additional $40 fee above the 90 lb shipping charge for it.

Trevor you may want to look into FedEx for those large items. My shipping for hitch/harness, bed extender and mud flaps was like $30 total from the Bay Area to Portland, OR.

Actually it is just a case of the shipper either not knowing or not caring that they are being charged the full amount. We looked into FedEx and they have the same size requirements and also have an extra surchage on top of the shipping price for the size.

It is very easy for a shipper not to know this when they ship the item. The UPS/FedEx computer will show one shipping price if they don't note on it that the item is OS3. Then later UPS/FedEx adds a surcharge onto the shipment that is charged to the shipper after the fact. If they don't audit their shipping bills item for item then they won't ever know they are paying the higher amount. The shipping companies love to add extra charges to the shipment once they have it. Many businesses think that whatever the computer says when they ship the item is what they are being charged.

FedEx even had an error on their website for months where it wouldn't show the extra surcharge if we punched in all the size information. They finally fixed that after we kept pointing it out to them.

FedEx and UPS tend to keep their prices almost exactly the same. As soon as one raises theirs the others match it.

We tried many different options to get around so many of the Ridgeline items being so expensive to ship, including reboxing items, however what it comes up with on the site is what UPS charges us.

The issue is the size and weight of the "hitch". It is large !

Trevor,

How is the hitch shipped, i.e. boxed or unboxed, etc? I had a draw-tite hitch shipped and the shipping was only $20. It wasn't in a box, but was wrapped in bubble wrap really well. Would that make the difference in the price or did they just eat some on the shipping?

I understand what you're saying about OS3, but other places are shipping for less.

We measured the hitch out of the box and it was still over the limit. Another hitch of a slightly different design could easily be under the limit as the Honda one is really close. Also if it is a product that has a lot more room between cost and sale price then more of the shipping charge can be absorbed by the company. Plus I'd be nervous about shipping it out of a box even with lots of bubble wrap. We've had UPS bend a hitch before and although I'm sure the bulk of them would make it through without part of the wrap getting torn off the couple that did get scraped up would be bad.

As for places shipping for less, their loss is your gain. Either they don't know what they are paying or don't care, maybe the sales of the items get them enough atta-boys and no one notices that their shipping costs are high. I regularly audit our shipping charges from UPS and if we shipped a hitch at those prices we'd lose money (not just make less, but actually come out negative). We'd be better off just mailing a $20 bill to those that were going to order the hitch instead. No that isn't going to be the February special :)

Any other suggestions for the February special?

I understand about the shipping......some places do not monitor their costs too well !

How about the Ridgeline Service manual?

Currently $72 + shipping

BTW - This could go as "Bound Printed Matter" via the Post Office, since it is a book.....

What do you think?

How about a front end mask? Our winter in Arkansas has been unseasonably warm and the bugs will be out in full force early this spring. I want to protect my ridge-beauty and they look really boss. In fact, I've thought of nick-naming it the "Increditruck" after Mr. Incredible who wears a black mask.
BTW, anyone know where I can get a license plate with the "Incredibles" logo on it? You know... the big I w/ the circle around it

Anyway, Trevor, with the warm winter most everyone seems to be experiencing, that seems to be a good choice. Thanks for your support of the ROC!!!

Trevor, can you get us the "KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014" that is referenced in the manual for removing various interior trim pieces?

If so, maybe you'd consider adding it as a secondary item on one of your future month's specials pages for the ROC.

I found it at another tool vendor site for about $42, with shipping and handling. I'd rather spend the money at your site, if the tool set were available there.

I have yet to purchase the Door Visors and MR Visor... I think a "package" deal would be cool for an April special if the shipping cost was reasonable. I'd really like to purchase from HandA thru the ROC, but the "cross-country" shipping costs involved may be prohibitive.

Forgettabout my original request for the Door Visors. I don't need them anymore. Shipping anything from California (to Pittsburgh) will probably be pricey so I'd like to see a "Free Shipping Special" on something, instead. :)

If the specials are going to be a regular thing, I'd like them as a weekly rather than monthly occurance. a month is too long to wait to see if what you want to buy comes up on sale.

It IS a bit of a wait to see "next month's special" when "this month's special" "isn't so special" to you ...but on the other hand... isn't it nice to see something you didn't think you'd want, and if it's a good sale, you have a while to think about it before ordering it? ;)  :D

Looking for a "nice" license plate for the front of my new RL. Stopped by a kiosk in the middle of the mall yesterday and saw a nice heavy weight stainless steel HONDA license plate. Couldn't pry $39.99 + tax out of my wallet to buy. Did not see any license plates on HandA's site.

A nice mirrored stainless steel plate with either Honda or Ridgeline would be a nice offering for a goup buy.

Thanks........

I can't beat that price on a roof rack so we'll go with the moonroof visor and door visors (someone requested them awhile back).

$60.50 for the Moonroof visor and $130.90 for the door visors.
