BannedUser 01-26-2006, 11:15 AM Aibikr and I would like to extend a lunch "meet and greet" to all of you in the area who are interested. Lady's Buck, Drew and myself will be in the area at a sprint kart race (http://worldkarting.com/downloads/eb/0310_lowes_mc.pdf)and would love to meet with as many of you as possible. Maybe you would like to come to the race too!! :D
Aibikr will be coming off vacation so we may need to hold his head up at the table. ;)
March 12, 2006, lunch time.
Red Robin has 2 locations and I just picked the first one (http://www.redrobin.com/Mapquest/SA/advantage.asp?transaction=locMap&template=map&name=Red+Robin+-+Toringdon&iconID=30418001&address=3415+Toringdon+Way&city=Charlotte&stateProvince=NC&postalCode=28277&user1=(704)+541-3233)they had listed so if the other one is better, feel free to change it.
meanmachine19 01-26-2006, 11:19 AM Damn, JC...you sure get around...NC! Now how come you haven't replied to the Arizona meet!? ;)
BannedUser 01-26-2006, 11:24 AM Damn, JC...you sure get around...NC! Now how come you haven't replied to the Arizona meet!? ;)
Is it near Oregon in June? :D
meanmachine19 01-26-2006, 11:32 AM Well, Arizona is a lot closer to Oregon than NC!! :D
BannedUser 01-26-2006, 12:00 PM I have never been to a Red Robin before, but am looking forward to it!
Since it is a racing weekend in Charlotte, maybe LadyRidge can get us into Lowe's Motor Speedway to take 43 RLs through some door-to-door racing action for a few laps... Bring your insurance cards.
I guess this would be a great time for any who are interested to "trade paint..."
Interesting idea Terry. Hhhmmm..got me thinkin'. ( Todd hates it when I say that, it always costs him money )
If we get enough of a commitment, maybe we could be the celebrity entertainment. :D

This might just work..... I'm not that far away...... I'll check on calendar stuff. Sounds like fun:D

Oh that would so cool if you could come. :)
BassBud 01-26-2006, 02:36 PM Oh that would so cool if you could come. :)
Hope we can make it, too. Checking it out with my wife..... we likely won't know for sure until closer to time.
Her mom is recovering from Throat Cancer treatments -- she's had 35 radiation treatments and several 5-hour chemo treatments. The long-term prognosis is good; however, the recovery is slow due to her age -- she cannot swallow and is tethered to a feeding-tube machine for the next month or so. This requires my wife to stay with her 24 x 7 right now. We are hoping by March that things will be much better..... plus, hopefully her sister can cover for her on the weekend of this event! Things are looking up!:)
While all of this is going on, my job is to hold down the home front, run errands, etc. I have the easy part:cool:
I am assisted by my faithful companion "Mel the Wonder Dog":D

ridgeln 01-26-2006, 06:46 PM BassBud -
Having Mel (the Wonder Dog, who received a large "awwww" from my RidgeRats) around isn't near as nice as having your wife around, but knowing she is taking care of her mother has to be of some comfort. Fighting cancer is tough on everyone in the family - but having family around makes the fight worth doing.
Please pass along a huge ROC hug to your mother-in-law, wife, and Mel from all your ROC friends.
Hope you can make it to the RR to meet up with the others from the ROC (and a hug from LadyRidge is something no one should miss!).
You and your family will be in our prayers.

Thanks so much, ridgeln! That means a lot to us:)
BannedUser 01-27-2006, 07:04 AM BassBud...my thoughts and prayers are also with you. And Frank and Terry are both so correct. Family and prayer are powerful things.
And your ROC family is here for you also if you need us.
:)
BassBud 01-27-2006, 03:48 PM Keep the faith, Bassbud,
Prayer changes things! :)
Amen! Thanks to all for your prayers....:)
NC Blue 01-31-2006, 03:52 PM I can make it. Seeing as I live in Charlotte! :)
BassBud 01-31-2006, 06:50 PM I can make it. Seeing as I live in Charlotte! :)
See you there! I'll be driving up from Greenville (SC)....
Good color choice! I'm Blue, too..... but mine's "Panther Blue" vs. "NC Blue";)
PS ... I lived/worked in CLT for many years. My son is still there, living/working. Great city!:D
oldguy 01-31-2006, 06:55 PM I'm in Marion, keep me posted...
BannedUser 01-31-2006, 07:47 PM This is great Aibikr..it's turning out to be a really  cool event for all of us. :)
mhopper 01-31-2006, 08:42 PM I'm only 35 min. south of Charlotte. kEEP ME POSTED.
BassBud 02-01-2006, 10:04 PM I'm only 35 min. south of Charlotte. kEEP ME POSTED.
Where are you, mhopper? 35 min south must be in SC or close? Down I-85 or I-77? I'm in Greenville....
BassBud 02-01-2006, 10:09 PM Save the date, mhopper. Maybe everyone can meet at the track to caravan over to red robin. That way we can get a group shot both places.
Couple of logistical questions....
o As I recall there are two Red Robin's in Charlotte..... one out Providence Road (south), and another somewhere north up toward Huntersville.... Which one are we going to?
o What "track" are you referring to?
A couple of group shots sounds like a great idea...... I'll throw my tripod in the trunk!:D
BassBud 02-02-2006, 02:54 PM In the first post of the thread LR mentions:
Red Robin - Toringdon
3415 TORINGDON WAY
CHARLOTTE, NC 28277-2437
Phone: (704) 541-3233
But she said the other would be fine. I have never been to either, so it is flexible. We can put it to a vote, but I would personally prefer someone who has been to both, pick one out that has a good parking lot for group photos.
LR is coming to town for a Kart race that is also mentioned in the first post through a link. I believe it is at or near the Lowe's motor speedway which is, of course in Concord, just north of Charlotte off of 85. I am still waiting to hear if that will be possible as well. We can try to find out what the track officials will let us do photowise. LR was going to see if we could be the guest entertainment/theme, etc.
Sorry I missed the info in the first post! I shoulda looked:) Thanks for the repeat!
Either place is fine with me, whichever checks out the best for food/pictures..... My son lives in CLT..... I'll ask him if he's tried either restaurant.
NC Blue 02-03-2006, 10:33 AM I'll have to ask around about restaurants around the speedway. That's NE of the city and I live in the SW side. I did ride up that way awhile back and we ate at Quaker Steak-n-lube. That was decent. Kind of like a motorcyle, speed freak hangout. The Concord Mall is right across from the speedway and there are certainly a few choices for meeting and eating. Again, will ask around.
BassBud 02-03-2006, 01:49 PM Great idea!
NC Blue lives in Charlotte, too. Any ideas?
Spoke with my son.... he has not personally dined at the one we're thinking about, but says it gets mixed reviews on the food quality.... and, he says there are frequently a lot of children there (not a problem for me.... we'll likely be louder than them!:D ).....
FYI....
BannedUser 02-05-2006, 07:50 AM BTW, Ladyridge, what time will we be finished at the track and ready to go to lunch?
I am not sure on the times yet...I'll post them when I know.
But I was thinking..( Todd hates it when I say that..it usually costs him money :D )
I thought someone mentioned Chuck E. Cheese in this thread but I couldn't find it. I love Chuck E. Cheese and I love to whack-a-mole.
Or..if you guys in North Kakalaki have another idea. I'm not stuck on RR. I am sure you fellas know of really great places you are familair with. I'm easy to get along with. Just ask the Tinman ( Ridgeln ). :D
ridgeln 02-05-2006, 10:12 AM LadyRidge IS very easy to get along with - one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life.
What's scary is I looked at my school calendar to see when I had spring break, thinking about coming to A) watch drew race, and B) to be the second furthest driver for the meet in NC! (LR is north of me by a couple hours).
-ridgeln (aka, the tinman to LR's dorothy)
1stHonda4me 02-10-2006, 08:50 PM I'm looking into coming if you all can stand a Redrock Pearl from Virginia. :D
This would be my 1st meeting and I don't know anyone personally yet so I sort of feel out of place. Got a make sure my weekend is clear at work and the wife agrees. -CB

Well.....you aren't alone. We don't know each other either....yet!!:p
Don't feel out of place, we can't wait to see you. :)
oldguy 02-11-2006, 10:25 AM Ok guys and others:rolleyes: Its Lowes Motor Speedway, on the 12th of March? What time? I'll get on Map Quest to get the exit # off I85. I take I40 to Hickery and down 321 to 27 to Mt. Holly to Fredom Drive and then onto I85, its just a nice pleasent drive staying off I85, but for the trip around Charlotte I85 will keep me from getting lost. Less then 2 hrs from Marion,NC

Just look for the collection of great looking trucks!!! They carry the most AMAZING human beings - truly remarkable. And make sure you show off the cool trunk in the bed of your truck :D
You'll have a great time - make sure you take your camera so that you get a picture of you with the Queen of the ROC!

OH - And, 1stHonda4Me - make sure you learn the "secret" to how to unlock or lock your truck from an increased distance away from the truck.

Nah..you don't want to learn that..it's an awful sight!! :D ;)
ridgeln 02-12-2006, 05:58 PM Just make sure that people have either burned out their batteries or run out of disk space on their cameras before you learn the trick - otherwise, your pic will end up here on the ROC (but I do look MUCH better w/ long hair, thanks LadyRidge!)
