anyone own the silver side steps?

i was trying to complete my order of accessories for my new(01.26.06) ridge... when they called me from www.cheaphondaparts.com to tell me that they apologize, but honda is currently holding all of the sidesteps due to a defect... and that they will probably be available sometime again soon- but that leaves me wondering- why are they defective??? do i really wanna spend money on these if they are crap? ) "i dont think so..." ----------------why put crap on quality?

or... conversely any suggestions for the perfect silver toned side steps for a nighthawk black ridge? ( i'm keeping the black and silver motif)
