: Reservations for EOC/ROC West Coast Camping Trip
Miss Ellie & Co. 01-28-2006, 05:24 PM Hello girls and boys! This is it!
We are finally "good to go" on the EOC/ROC West Coast Camping Trip at Lake Tahoe. It's now time to get your resevations called in to the campground.
We'll be camping at The Tahoe Valley Campground (530-541-2222) for the week-end of August 18,19, 20 Friday, Saturday and Sunday departing on Monday.
Group Camp: Although they have one I was advised that it has very spartan amenities so we've chucked that option completely and will be going with individual tent sites instead.
Individual Tent Sites: This is the way to go and it suits our needs all the way around. As I mentioned earlier the campground will do everything possible to see that EOC/ROC members have adjoining tent sites. However the quicker we reserve our sites the better. The sites here will accomadate 2 vehicles per site and as many a 6 people. So if members want to bring along more friends and family, or double up with other EOC/ROC members that could happen.
Indivdual Site Fee: $27.50 per night. You will pay in advance for the first night only. Paying the remaining balance upon arrival. This is good because it will allow folks to want to stay longer or shorter than three days to decide that when they get there. NOTE: Rate may increase to $30 per night by Febuary 1st.
When you contact the campground let them know who you are "EOC/ROC"
and the dates (week end ) you want to reserve. "Jan or Joel" are the contact people at the campground and are prepared to make our reservations as early as today.
Even though the campground is open year round there isn't always someone there to talk to. So call back and keep trying until you connect with some one.
Calling the campground: 530-541-2222 "You want to talk to someone at the campground when you call." Do not go directly to the reservation prompt as it will direct you to an "outside ticket reservation system. You want to talk directly with someone at the campground.. either Jan or Joel for EOC/ROC reservations.
That's it for now. Lets get this thing happening!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Richelle

Miss Ellie & Co. 02-10-2006, 12:08 PM Just an update to let you guys know what's going on.
If we don't get some Ridgeline owners in soon this will become an EOC Camping Trip as opposed to a Combined EOC/ROC Camping Trip. Let's not let that happen. This trip is for both Ridgeline and Element owners. Your presence is whole heartedly requested.
What's up? Are there no Ridgeline Owners interested in attending this Lake Tahoe camping trip? Come on people, this camping trip is going to be super fun. It would be so sad :( if you weren't part of it too.
The campground has hook-ups too if you'de like to haul up a tent or travel trailer behind your Ridgeline.
Would it help if I renamed the thread the "ROC/EOC Combined West Coast Camping Trip?" If so let me know and I'll do it. I don't care. We just want you to come.
This is a popular campground at Lake Tahoe and summer week-end dates will fill up soon. So even if you're sitting on the fence about attending the camping trip at least get a reservation in now. It will only cost you $27.00 and you can cancell it later if you need to.

Hi Mayfielh,
Sent you a follow up message but I don't see it. So at risk of being redundant here it is again.
That's so cool! Very happy to hear about your new baby. Thank you for responding. Wish you could make this year but you're gonna have your hands full. I hope that you, the fam and new addition can make it next year.
Wishing you all the best,
Miss Ellie :D
ProHonda 02-10-2006, 12:43 PM I would LOVE to come, but the WAR is still going on. Makes it REAL hard to plan anything.
Heck I even miss Valentines day for the second year in a row
RidgeOwner3 02-10-2006, 02:38 PM I will also do my best to participate, although we probably won't be camping out. We have a couple other options in So. Lake Tahoe since we own a timeshare there and my Aunt/Uncle have a place in the Tahoe Keys.
I am planning on the trip and Tahoe adventures with fellow Ridgeline owners.

dsowell 02-25-2006, 02:12 PM I made resservations today. I'll be tent camping.

Dnick 02-26-2006, 12:10 AM Miss Ellie,
I haven't been on the site lately due to other demands on my time . . . & I'm still tied up a while, traveling to Ohio this week. Will be looking into making reservations the first week in March. Hope that still works. We're looking forward to being there. Gotta go.
Miss Ellie & Co. 02-26-2006, 01:59 PM WTG Dnick & dsowell! Very commendable. I am pleased to hear that you'll attend. Most everyone attending will be tent camping. It's going to be great fun at one of the most spectacular lakes in the world. We are going to have a very good time indeed! I'll be posting up a campground map soon.
Miss Ellie :D
Box4Rox 02-28-2006, 12:44 AM . . . I'll be posting up a campground map soon.
Hello ROC folks . . . I'm an EOC guy helping Miss Ellie out with the Tahoe Trip . Hope you don't mind another Element owner crashing your board :D
Here's a campground map that Tahoe Valley sent us . . . They highlighted the tent sites we're targeted for . . . Hurry and get a reservation going. This sounds like it will be a great time

Miss Ellie & Co. 04-05-2006, 10:34 AM no really ... can i join?
Hi Kneemow! Yes I think you still can easily get reservations. We recently had our first EOC ( I'm a Element owner and spend most of my on-line time over there in the EOC) camping trip at Joshua Tree two weeks ago. It was a blast and everyone who we met there were wonderful. It was so good in fact that we are now doing on going once a month camping trips year round! Got one happening at Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara the week end of April 22nd. If you want more info on this or any other of the trips just go the the EOC forums and check out either of these two forums.. California Element Owners or Hikin, Bikin, Campin, and Kayakin and check out the threads on it. Ridgeline Owners are welcome to any of the EOC events! Let me know if you have questions on this or anything else.
Look forward to meeting you!
Miss Ellie (Richelle) :)
dsowell 04-14-2006, 07:09 PM I was out driving around the last couple of days and I just had to stop here.:)
I'm in spot 391.

Miss Ellie & Co. 04-14-2006, 08:08 PM Hey Doug, got there a bit early huh? LOL! Thanks for posting the pic. I can't wait until August!

Sure! Just call them and get reservations. Info is in earlier posts in this thread I think.

Hello Big Al 1. You bet it is!
Glad to see you're interested in attending. I spoke with the campground host "Jan" on Thursday to get a head count on how many campsites have been booked. So far it's "8" and there are still sites available. So go book yourself a site! Let me know if you got any questions. Hope to see you there!
Miss Ellie :)
Ferrum 04-16-2006, 06:41 PM Hello ROC members! Firstly, I'm an EOC who crossed over (because I can't contain my enthusiasm) to talk about this Tahoe trip. I am quite amused by the brotherly love shown on some of the posts here regarding joint events with your "smaller sibling". Well this little sister :p of yours wants to know if you're up to the challenge of whitewater rafting (see copy of my post to EOC below). Whether you will join me for a thrill ride or not, rest assured that the organization of this trip could not be in better hands. I can attest to how knowledgable Richelle & Gene (Miss Ellie) and Box-4-Rox are, as well as being interesting and amusing people to hang out with. We are actually going to meet up this weekend because we did not get enough of each other at Jtree :D and to toss around more ideas for Tahoe!
"Don't miss out on this sure to be a blast trip organized by the well traveled and dynamic duo, Miss Ellie (that's the name of their E). They only had to talk to me once to get me to sign up (we met at the Joshua Tree rockclimbing trip organized by Box-4-Rox in March). There are many options on things to do in Tahoe but here I will press for a group whitewater rafting outing! C'mon, there's no better way to build camaraderie among Element owners than to maneuver through rollercoaster waves on a raft together. I've only done it once in CO and it was such a thrill. Whether you're a seasoned paddlehead or completely new to the experience, a fun and challenging ride as a team can be had by all by matching skill levels to the difficulty. Anyone game? If we can get enough interest from the Ridgeline owners as well, we could have an EOC raft and an ROC raft. Imagine the possibilities ... "
Ferrum 05-04-2006, 03:59 PM Wow, I really killed this thread. Guess we will only have an EOC raft ...
dsowell 05-04-2006, 05:03 PM Wow, I really killed this thread. Guess we will only have an EOC raft ...
I like breathing air.:D
Ferrum 05-08-2006, 07:55 PM I do too, but I guess I like to drink water as well?
Miss Ellie & Co. 05-08-2006, 08:34 PM Not to worry Ferrum. Perhaps we can interest our ROC cuzzins in some kicked back, gliding and sliding on the lake in kayak rentals. We'll be doing that too. Paddle on over to Emerald Bay and catch some air from speed boat wakes.. lots of fun! The lake is sooo crystal clear you can see the bottom sand and water grass twenty feet below.
spdrcr5 05-08-2006, 09:53 PM Bring your mountain bikes too! I'm flying in from NY with my mountain bike, hoping to do some kayakin' and having lots of fun.
Can't wait for this weekend. :)
dsowell 06-17-2006, 09:42 PM Well here is a little bump for our newer members that may not have seen this thread. Reserve now before they are all filled up.
Any new head count Ellie?
Doug
bigred1 06-18-2006, 08:47 PM Maybe a ROC/EOC/CR-VOC camping trip is in order? What do you think?
spdrcr5 06-20-2006, 12:26 PM Doug, a count was posted on the EOC, I think someone said that there are 11 camp sites reserved at Lake Tahoe so far. I wish more ROC members would sign up and make the trek. I asked Richelle (Miss Ellie) to post updated infor over here as well.
As for the idea to invite the CRV-OC on the trip, it dawned me as well. I'll be posting links and info over there as well. Maybe we can get some CR-V's at this too!
I think it would be great to get 2 dozen club members all together out in the outdoors for a fun camp out, Mtn Bike ride, rafting, offroading...
Miss Ellie & Co. 06-21-2006, 07:13 PM Hello again, "Hi Doug!"
Sometimes I feel like a third wheel when I am over here in Ridgeville so I haven't been posting as much as I should. Please forgive.
Yes indeed the Lake Tahoe Trip in August has been causing all sorts of
excitement in Element Land lately. SoCal peeps are putting together a Moonlight Caravan for the drive up to Tahoe with a 3:00 AM meet up time in Mohave. Whoa Baby! And we would sure like to have some Ridgelines in that group for additional sex appeal. (check it out in the Lake Tahoe Roll Call thread in the EOC Hikin Bikin Kayakin and Campin forum.) Even the drive up to Tahoe is going to be awesome!
The current head count so far is 13 confirmed campsite reservations and more in the works. Three of these are Ridgers with a few more of you guys attending but not camping as they live in the area.
This is really going to be a great camping trip. The photos that will be posted after the trip will make you wish that you had gone with us.
I guarantee it. Campsites are still available so if you enjoying camping and would like to hang out at one of the most fantastic lakes in the world.. you really should make yourself available for this one.

Miss Ellie & Co. 07-12-2006, 11:51 AM Hello Ridgeville cousins! Me again. Just another post to let you all know that the Lake Tahoe camp out is up and running. Still don't know exactly how many ROCers will attend but I know there's going to be a few of you.
Excitement is still blarring over on the EOC on this trip and I do hope more of you guys will attend or at least make an appearance. Specially those of you who live in the Bay Area and Sacramento as it's only a few hours drive from there. Come on by pop open some cold ones and hang out for awhile. Not into camping? There's numerous B&Bs, motels for every budget and awesome Casinos to stay at too.
This is going to be super fun and we would love to have more Ridgeline owners representing their rides there.
Richelle :)
Ferrum 08-02-2006, 05:01 PM Ferrum has proposed preparing a mass breakfast for all of us who are going to Tahoe. She'll be preparing her House Specialty,
"The Malaysian Omelete" with Thai peppers, oysters, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. I believe she'll even have a clam version of this as well for those who aren't into oysters.
...
So we'de like to have an general idea of how many of you Tahoe peeps will want to indulge yourselves in this culinary delight and figure out how many eggs will be needed. I know it will be difficult for some of you guys to break with your traditional breakfast themes of Captin Crunch, Lucky Charms and I am sure some of you may miss your morning conversations with your Rice Crispies, but you really should try this "out of the ordinary" omelet. Rumor has it that it's quiet good.
Oyster or clam omelettes are a relatively common late night snack in Malaysia. It's usually served with hot chili sauce.
...
For Tahoe, I thought I'd offer more side ingredients to suite different palettes. We (Miss Ellie, you're backing me up right?) can serve a few versions: the oyster + pepper, clam + pepper, the American (tomatoes, onions, mushrooms), and the pepper American. We can probably make a few ala carte if you catch us while we're making it. We'll probably know on Fri what time we'll be up and making those things, but most likely the earlier part of Sat morning (after I get my joe black). I'm kinda toying with the idea of an anchovy version.
So it would be nice to hear some feedback on who'll be in on this and what they would probably eat.
I have this funny image of 4 dozen eggs not properly secured in my Element and me hitting the brakes.
I've copied these posts from the EOC site. Maybe it will entice you ROC members out of the woodwork, but I've killed this thread once already, so here's hoping it does not happen again.
Seriously, we're just a bunch of people who love the great outdoors and happen to drive a Honda truck. I won't shove anchovies into your face if it's not your thing.

P.S. I just called the campground for some info and they said they were booked solid.

Yay, I got a response! Will count you + wife in.
It will be a perfect time to be at Tahoe and on the lake.
For those interested in this meet, it's still possible as each site accomodates 2 cars (technically, you have to be related, but I guess we could claim Honda family?).
dsowell 08-08-2006, 07:16 PM Any other ROC'ers coming up to the lake?
It will be fun!!:D

dsowell 08-17-2006, 09:28 PM Leaving in the morning. I guess I'll be alone with the E's. :(
UglyTruckling 08-17-2006, 11:47 PM Wish I could join you guys -- the timing just isn't right. Hope you won't be the lone RL, Doug -- didn't NevadaGarth say he'd go?
dsowell 08-18-2006, 07:00 AM I think he may stop by but won't be camping with us.
