ridgerbarry 01-29-2006, 06:55 PM Got out for the last couple of days duck hunting this weekend. One day with my dad- one with friends. The Honda handled itself great. I keep being impressed with the 4wd. There were a couple of fresh plowed fire breaks that I ran through with no problems and then pulling the boat out of the pond was a breeze.
This place is beautiful-
Thats two days hunting- Two limits and one BIG water moccasin
stinger 01-29-2006, 07:03 PM Great pics!

Great pictures. Beautiful scenery.
Brings back many good memories when my dad took my brother and me, from the age of about seven through fourteen, hunting every weekend, mostly walking the hills rabbit hunting. Taught us so much about gun use and saftey. I still live in the exact same area where we could walk for miles and see nothing but rolling hills for as far as you could see.
Now all you can see is houses, malls and freeways to the horizon.
Can't even shoot a BB gun in your own back yard now.
My dad is gone now and I try to teach my grandsons the lessons I learned but have to literally drive 100+ miles just to shoot legally in the outdoors and thats just for target practice - no hunting anymore.
Keep hunting with your dad often. The memories will be great and unforgettable.
bigtars@hotmail.com 01-29-2006, 08:46 PM Back in the early 70's I got so high once that I thought that I could go duck hunting ---with a yard rake!!!
bonerep 01-29-2006, 09:45 PM Nice pics.. Can you send me a duck for dinner?
fishnbanjo 01-30-2006, 06:31 AM Well I don't hunt ducks since my old SxS's can't use steel and my Weimaraner is afraid of water but man those are some cool shots (no pun intended).

FISHNBANJO,
Try some of the other non-tox shot in the old gun. There are a lot of types out there and many of them don't damage non-steel shot barrels. Plus with your Ridge you might entice someone with a duck-dog to join you, perhaps just for the ride!!!
fishnbanjo 01-30-2006, 08:05 AM If it weren't for the fact that the duck shooting opportunites available to me are Sea Ducks I would try it, I really have no desire to expose my Parkers to the salt!

Awesome ridgerbarry, even a bad day hunting with a special person beats the best day sitting in an office working IMHO. I am going through withdrawels since I have not been out our hunting camp for about a month but do plan to go after some hogs this weekend, getting low on them pigsicles in the freezer. Thanks for sharing, you got me fired up!
ridgekat 01-30-2006, 09:10 AM Beautiful scenery; solitude.
Makes me want to duck hunt from my kayak with my golden, Cody.
flymuck 01-30-2006, 10:56 AM Nice pics, ridgerbarry! I love the one of the man with his head out of the duck blind (is that your dad?) and the one of the dog -- you really have an eye for a photo. Thanks for posting!
(P.S. bigtars -- you made me laugh. Made me think of the time we came home from vacation and discovered a local raccoon had taken a bite out of one of my cats... after taking the cat to the vet and getting him all fixed up, my SO spent the next couple of nights staking out the property with a pellet gun and a knife taped to the end of a rake... we didn't ever get the pest, but moved shortly thereafter anyway...)

flymuck,
FYI, racoons DON'T taste like chicken. I never have figured out where that rumor started.:D
ridgerbarry 01-30-2006, 01:24 PM Yes that is my dad- That is the guy who taught me to do it all.
He laughs and says now things have turned full circle. I do all the work and he sits in the boat and asks questions!
By the way- coon tastes like dark meat turkey!

LOL... we weren't going to eat him, we just wanted him DEAD. He had already molested our pond and eaten all the fish out of there except one, knocked over all the plants, wrecked havoc... evil, evil, evil!!! :D

So your not one of the stereo typical CA type hug all animals persons?
They can be a real pain, they tear up our feeders at deer camp and they get so fat eating all the corn and protein we throw that they look like little bears.
Anyways, "I never did eat one cause I heard they was high in cholesterol" (said in my best redneck accent)
