mrtgman 01-29-2006, 08:05 PM I just picked up some xenon/krypton bulbs from ebay for the fog lamps and am anxious to install them. I looked underneath the front of the truck and can not tell how to get to the bulbs in the foglamps to change them out.
any advice?
Thanks
RidgeInTheVille 01-29-2006, 08:28 PM Changing the bulbs is listed in the installation instructions (http://www.handa-accessories.com/ridgeline/foglights.pdf). It's towards the end of the instructions.
Dnick 01-30-2006, 02:19 AM . . . . and if you had someone else install them & don't have the installation instructions, you can get them at H&A (handa.com). They have the Honda Install instructions for nearly, if not all of the OEM accessories.

Just curious if you could supply me with the brand of bulb. I'm looking to upgrade my foglights as well. Thanks in advance
Ultra-HOG 01-30-2006, 10:53 AM I am curious to hear what you have to say about the new bulbs. I am very happy with the standard OEM versions but I would also consider something that makes them even better. Just please don't leave them on when it's not necessary or if I am in front of you. Thanks! I promise that I will do the same.:)

Here is a link for some more that I found.

I am going to put them in this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.
IShootPics 01-31-2006, 04:48 PM I have an Xtec 5000k HID kit that I had in my Audi that I traded in for the Ridge... just so happens they were both H11, so I lucked out.
Anyone wanting to do HIDs, its BRIGHT. Almost too bright. The high seating position in the truck lets a lot of the light reflect back at your eyes, and its almost more tiring to drive with them than without. I'm debating on going 3000k and getting some Hella or PIAA spotlights to mount on my bullbar, or leave the white fogs and go amber spot/foglights.
I'll get some pics or videdo for you guys soon.
mrtgman 02-06-2006, 06:55 PM ok all. I tried to change the foglight bulbs this weekend. no go! I took the covers off etc. read the directions. I could not twist the sockets out. I tried both sides and it was the same. it is almost like Honda put some sort of lock on them. any suggestions?

twist.. hard.. I've had bulbs get wedged in before where the plastic base broke... but once the bulb was out, the replacement(s) fit perfectly, and came in and out of the housing just fine
kanji 02-07-2006, 02:36 AM will these fit for the fogs? here's the site

mrtgman 02-11-2006, 07:29 AM ok all I am going to try again today. When I am laying under the truck, feet sticking out the front do I turn the housing up to the right or left to remove it to change the bulb?
GJRUGBY 02-13-2006, 07:15 PM I am so sick of you pansies telling people it is "bad" or "rude" to drive with your foglights on when it is not foggy outside. I can see your point IF THE LIGHTS ARE NOT CORRECTLY AIMED, but for those of us who KNOW how to aim a bulb/lamp/foglight, I find them perfect for seeing things directly in front of the vehicle. My wife's Land Rover has them, and they are every bit as useful as the headlights.
I hope that when you stop and talk to people about their foglights and how bad they are for other drivers, you tell them to properly align them, and not berate them as a driver or whatever.
To take it to another level...if foglights are bad for our eyes, than these HKQ8000000K "XENON/KRYPTON/EARTHLING" lights HAVE to be just as bad for us!
I wish every car had the true High Intensity Discharge (H.I.D.) headlights and foglights that Europeans do (and Acura, hence HONDA)...we would all be so much safer! And they even burn longer and use less energy, resulting in better fuel economy (for those of us counting every 10th of a mile we get per gallon!)
Cheers,
George
Luder62678R1 02-13-2006, 08:34 PM For those wondering about HIDs, the only real way to change out a stock headlight is to actually do a "retro-fit" where you heat up the lamp in an oven to where you can pop the glass front off. You will need get a hold of projectors from another car, such as a bmw, lexus, benz, whatever will fit, and mount them in the headlight. This allows the beam to be focused, as the way a stock lamp works without HID is that it works on the reflectors inside the lamp. You should not put in an HID kit without the projectors, as you will be pulled over for modding the stock light and putting out a much to bright light, and will be blinding all other drivers. There is documentation on how to do this out there, maybe just not yet for the RL. Keep in mind "HID STYLE" lights are in no way true HID. HID Style lights, that provide you with a "K" temperature rating (Kelvin), are actually lessening the ability to see if you go over 4300K - 4700K. Even though the bluish look they give off may be brighter to look at, you lose the amount of useable lumens to actually see with. If anyone is interested in more info on how this is done, let me know, and I'll see what I can dig up.
