My order to Basickoncepts

This is not meant to attack Basickoncepts but more to set the expectations of others that may place an order from them. My order on 1/3/2006 for an electric tailgate lock still has not shipped even though it has been fully paid for. My request for an update on 1/17/2006 went unanswered and finally on 1/21/2006 I recieved notification it was ready for pickup on 1/23/2006 and a DHL waybill number attached to it. Today I wanted to find out where the package was and it turns out the DHL waybill sent in the shipment notification is not a valid number.
I'm not sure how this will turn out but I have purchased many items from small manufacturers before and not had an experience like this. I'm sure the product will be of high quality when I receive it but at this point I don't know when that will be. The lack of a phone number for contact on the Basickoncepts website leaves me sending unanswered e-mails .....

DHL sucks! a while back they failed to deliver an overnite to me. Had to wait all weekend then drive 22 miles the next day to pick it up.

I can't speak to the the other subject but I certainly will agree with you that DHL sucks! :mad: I have had nothing but problems with them that were usually caused by the bad attitudes of their employees. :mad: The cause of the bad attitudes is very likely traceable back to upper management. :mad: Comparing DHL to UPS is like comparing Ford to Honda. I will never use them again for shipping or receiving (when I have the choice).

FWIW, I called Brian at BasicKoncepts about a week ago to ask a few questions regarding his bed cover and find out about the lead time for assembly. I left a message and he called me back later that same day. I didn't get a chance to call him back as I was busy at the office. He called me back again in the evening. He was polite and very informative.

Despite all the delays and poor communication discussed by his customer's on this forum, I would buy from him and will do so shortly. He's come up with a good and reasonably priced product from what I can tell. His business' growing pains prove it. Just about every (lucky!) small business gets to a point where they experience this.

As anxious as I may be to receive my product when I order it for him I will definitely try to keep this in mind and exercise a little patience. I would feel differently if I saw everyone was unhappy with what they received or didn't receive their orders at all.

He seems like a good guy and I am sure he will make it right.

I too, am gettig ready to order my bed cover from them. I have emailed them twice requesting info, and they have gotten back to me within the same day.

Ditto.... I had the same experience you did and placed my order about 6 weeks ago... I am glad I ordered from Brian and know I'll be pleased when the product arrives..... I'm thinking it should be here within a couple of weeks.... In the meantime I'm "practicing my patience!" :D

One time DHL picked up a package from my doorstep leaving no information to track the package. I contacted the DHL customer service they told me without the tracking number they couldn’t do anything. Not even by address or by name. :confused:

swishman, I’m ready to place the order from Basickoncepts, can I opt not to use DHL as the carrier?

I purchased a manual tailgate lock from BasicKoncepts and had a mechanical problem-with which he responded very quickly and mailed a new peice out quickly. Very good service and communications!!

However, I also just over 2 weeks ago (and maybe even 3 --I have lost track of time) ordered a dash plate and my money was taken immediately without any reply(except from PayPal). I right now have no idea how long it will take to get my dash plate.

BasicKoncept would have absolutely no complaints if they didn't take the money immediately from a customers account. I have owned 3 small businesses over the last 20o years and understand the cash flow issues involved. However, communication is #1--I wouldn't mind paying ahead with some communication--but there has been none. The customer should not have to contact you about a back order--you should be proactive and communicate with your paying customers! It is a simple solution and would solve this type of bad poblicity you are getting from your customer base.

I am very willing to wait for your product--but either give better communication or don't take our $$ and make us wait weeks or months for the product with no idea when we will get the product.

I think all of us that have purchased from you are very satisfied with the quality of the product you have provided. Your business will grow even faster than you have seen with good customer communications and service. I hope you are up to the challenge because you have good products!
