CUTiger 02-01-2006, 02:57 PM [B[/B]While installing the OEM Bug Deflector I dropped one of the 5 x 13 mm black screws and the body of the RL quickly ate it. It appears the only way to get a replacemnt (that I can find) is to order the hardware pack at a cost of $31.00. Seems like a lot of money to pay for a screw. Any ideas and/or suggestions for finding a replacement will be appreciated. Local home improvement stores were no help.
Thanks!
RidgeOwner3 02-01-2006, 03:07 PM LOL! I thought you were gonna say someone had a screw loose!
CUTiger 02-01-2006, 03:09 PM It was loose right before it came out. ;)
mayfielh 02-01-2006, 03:10 PM Do you have a Home Depot close. They have a pretty decent selection. Take one of the originals with you so you have something to compare to. I did that for a bed light that I had to drill out and found a match.
Webwader 02-01-2006, 03:43 PM Home Depot may have what you are looking for, but they only stock high volume items and if you are looking for something out of the ordinary, you can't beat a well run mom-and-pop hardware store. I build a lot of items for the zoo enrichment programs and they give me a Home Depot gift card to charge the supplies to. About 80-90% of the time I have to go to a real hardware store to complete my material list. There is also the added bonus that they actually know what they are talking about and where things are. The owner of the one I go to has been an employee then owner for over 30 years.
Grok Lobster 02-01-2006, 04:53 PM Check the phone book for an industrial supply store.
Boogity 02-01-2006, 04:55 PM CUTiger, check the screw in question with the ones for the mud guards , they are sold by each.

Man I miss those old wood floored hardware stores with bin after bin of nuts, bolts, nails, screws and... well, whatever one might need! Those were the good ol' days. :) The modern hardware store doesn't even come close with all of their shrinkwrapped crap and clerks that know nothing beyond hitting the Total button on a cash register.

HAHAHAHAHA.
(Just kidding):D

Great dirty minds think alike.
arteegee 02-01-2006, 06:20 PM At first I thought I had clicked the wrong link in Favorite Places.:o
kdogofjtown 02-01-2006, 06:48 PM May sound silly but I think my dealer would get me a screw - especially if I just bought a 30K truck from him. My dealer seemed very helpful - do you think your dealer they would extend a courtesy to a loyal customer??
CGM55123 02-01-2006, 07:29 PM Who doesn't need a good screw?
mtrotman 02-01-2006, 07:41 PM Don't feel too bad. My truck ate one of the relays that I was installing with the electrics for the trailer hitch. Luckily for me I don't have to buy a bag of them to get the replacement. Still, a $7.00 mistake.

Hear, hear!! :D
Sorry, couldn't resist...
CUTiger, I'd definitely try to sweet-talk your dealer into scoring you a screw (the hardware, I mean)... if it can wait, maybe next time you bring it in for service? Talk to one of the parts guys or one of the mechanics directly, not one of the managers, first... let your hair down, wear something skimpy, and simper... works for me! :D
(May not work for a guy, though... I love this society, where women now have the right to argue for equal rights/pay/status, and yet still get all the bennies of being the weaker -- I mean, fairer -- sex... LOL)
