After chatting with Ron (5S Dude) thought we'd try a meet in Laguna Beach on March 18, 2006. That is a Saturday and we can meet for lunch or dinner? What are your feelings on Ruby's. It is a safer bet for parking and accessibility!

5S Dude will donate a free set of "Ridgeline" billet door sills to the ROC-Head that travels the furthest distance for this event plus another complete set to the member who recruits the most new Ridgeline owners to our get together!

Update: With 8 ROC members commiting to March 18, 2006, everyone seems to like Ruby's. So the 2nd SoCal ROC Meet is on! Spread the word. Ron (5S Dude) will order name tags and is going to pass out flyers for the event. Once I get copies of the flyers I will do so as well and tag any Ridgeline I see between that time.

You might want to think about lunch in South Laguna at Rubies on PCH. Plenty of parking.

Laguna can get quit crowed on a Saturday and parking is a zoo.

I will be all over Oregon from 3/9 through 3/20.

But that's fine, I will be sure and make the next So. Cal. meet. :)

I agree with o.c. ridge (re: parking)
Bad parking would be a bummer.

You need to get all the RL's parked together as much as possible.

I concur with Tom! Ruby's sounds great for a lunch time get together so more owners can participate and have enough time to get home.

Lunch @ Ruby's at around noon! Make it so Tony! I'll start whittling some door sills for the giveaway!!:D

Or we can make it the 25th so Joe can make it!

I was telling Toobuku last night that Mike and I met a fellow ridgeliner in Sedona two weeks ago. His name is John, and he is from South Orange County ( or somewhere near there). We gave him a flier. I got his business card (no email addy) so I will mail him the info and see if he wants to show up on the 18th! (Photo attached - he's the white RL when we were out looking for good locations for the Sedona Meet on April 1st). So that just might be one newbie! But don't expect too much from us in that category! After all, I am bringing Arizona Ridgeliner with me (he's a silent lurker ROC member...).

See you on the 18th!! :D

Tony cruised over to checkout the parking situation this evening and said he would take his camera so I'll get a couple boxes of stick on name tags so we can sort of know who we are at the meets & greets. Do not forget your cameras!! This outa be a good one!:p :p

 Kevin, As it stands right now, we have the unofficial record with 12 attendees thus far :D ! I did an advance on the location tonight and took some pictures but too dark to do it justices! Great location! I could drive PCH all the way there from my condo but that would be the scenic route for sure! I will go by there tomorrow during the day and take pictures for all to see. They have a long row of parking spaces right in front of the location which would be great if we all could park there!

OK SoCal ROC'ers! Here are the daylight pictures of our meet location and 1 night shot. I also scouted 2 beach location to meet for the group photo after lunch. I think the best place is west of the location at the next State Beach. We get to drive for a bit to get to it and show off our trucks. There is also a location east of the location much shorter drive. We can play it by ear!

I hope all of you go to the section where I displayed 3 banner choices for the meet and vote on the one you like best! Pick the banner then the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd option response!

:) Okay SoCal ROC!

We are less than 2 weeks away from the biggest SoCal ROC meet since we bought these trucks! With 11 already comfirmed to attend, we could have close to 20 if the 6 possible attendees commit and we pull in some from the Socal ROC members I have yet to hear from. You know who you are and I know we can get busy at times. However, it would be great to put a face with the names of members I have been chatting and sharing thoughts with. :D

So If you haven't committed to attending yet, please do so. If you won't know until the day of, don't hesitate to stop on by and say what's up! Check out everybody's truck, caravan to the state beach, hang out and take a group photo with our new banner! By the way, if you have yet to vote on it, go to the thread SoCal Banner Selection and vote. I look forward to seeing all of you who can make it! ;)

OK 5S Dude, this is getting complicated.

I know I live around the corner from Ruby's in San Juan Capistrano, but if I go skiing at Mammoth the week before(360 miles), than drive from Mammoth to Scottsdale to play golf with my son and than come back in time for lunch at Ruby's on Saturday.

Does that make me the farthest drive, or does that mean I spent more on gas than just buying the door sills outright?

I am thinking the latter. Might just stay in town and see you all on March 18.

Or Tom, how about this question....since I am coming in to CA on Friday (from northern AZ) and staying the night at a hotel, do I count from where I drive on the day of the meet(Laguna Hills) or where I live?? :D I think its the latter (you know I want those sills!!).

But hey, you can also win some for bringing the most newbee's. I am working on two....just as back-up! :p

465 miles according to mapquest (463 for Arizona Ridgeliner  ).......maybe I'll have him spend the night at my house and we leave together from there....LOL

I'ss stir it up even more....the So Cal record will be short lived because we will break it in Sedona on April 1st! So if you want to prove me wrong So Cal, show up in better force than 12!

(NOW....You folks in Arizona, gonna need your help! If you haven't committed, I NEED some assistance to make that challenge stand!!)

Okay SoCal ROC,

We are locked at 14 at this moment with a week away from our biggest SoCal meet and greet! I'm getting so excited I could barely sleep last night :D . I hope those members who have yet to confirm coming will surprise us with there presence next Saturday at 12:00. After lunch, we will drive in trail to the beach Southeast of the meet site for our group picture. This should be a real nice time. I hope the rest of the members will join us.

I want to take this moment to thank my co-organizer Ron (5S Dude aka Door Bling Master Jedi) for supplying the sills for the member who travels the furthest and who brings the most new members. Also Gadgetz, who has step up to help just because, and we must pay homage to our Queen of the ROC (Lady Ridge) who will be making our cool SoCal ROC Banner and will have it here for our meet and greet Saturday. This is going to be so much fun meeting everyone finally! :D :D :D

Hey SoCal ROC!

So excited I am about our meet next Saturday, I drove out that way again this afternoon to scout the state park for our group picture and have now reconsidered going to that location. It just did not have the feel I was looking for. So After I got to Ruby's I drove Southeast from the location into Dana Point and Voilà! I found the perfect place to take the group picture.

The Beach is called Capistrano Beach Park. It is on Pacific Coast Highway at Beach Road. I took some pictures of the park and from where I stood, I just did a 360 degree turn and took the pictures. Check these out! This will be a great turn out. The faint land mass in the distance of picture #3 is actually Catalina Island.

Ok, I was not aware of this meet. Thanks to Ron, I think I might be game for this. I told me friend to borrow his Dad's Ridgeline and we could mount our TRX 450R's in the back and show up like a parade, but he is being a pansie about it since he is not the actual owner of the Ridge, but I told him, hey, it's your dad's, so it sort of yours.

Anyway, family is excited about taking a trip from the IE to Laguna, so there's is a good chance I'll be there at 12.

Isn't this the place with those mini-burgers??? I heard those are pretty good.

Anyway, Ron owes me a cold one, so I have to show up and make him spend some money on me. lol.

Everyone going rain or shine? I would be nice to get a break from the rain just for that day so I could detail the Ridge and make the black shine!!!

Hi all you lucky SoCal folks who have a chance to meet this coming Saturday! Go show off your truck.

If you haven't registered your zip codes so that you show up on our member lists by location, this is a good time to do so (no matter where you live). Use the following thread to do so.

Ron and Tony, as the primary organizers of this meet, you could bump your numbers by sending an invitation to each of the people listed within reasonable driving range. SixOp and Lingered_I have done a great amount of work to help make this easier for all of us, we should use the tools they've provided. I'm assembling a list of Utahns from this information.

Try sending a PM and an email if they have one registered. Time is short and not everyone checks their computers daily. Yes, it's true. Some have not become daily addicts.

The links to the ROC data base and Google Earth are in SixOp's first post on the zip code thread. Install these and watch the club grow.

Good Luck and get those Ridges to hit the road!

Hey Kevin, I'm working LAX overtime that day. After I get off and get my truck cleaned, I won't be able too on Saturday, I will try and meet with you.

I haven't told Mike yet, but I am inclined to have dinner at Hennessey's Tavern (213 Ocean Ave, Laguna Beach, 92651 - (949) 494-2743). With it being St. Patrick's Day and all, and corn beef & cabbage are always on the menu..... :p Mike and I are both Irish so we need our annual fix of soda bread and corn beef!!

You have my cell so don't hesitate to call anytime!

Being from So Cal and San Juan Capistrano, the Swallows are about to return to South Orange County and the San Juan Capistrano Mission.

The reason for the post is I want all of you coming to our meet this Saturday to WAX the top sides of you Ridgelines.

The Swallows do what they doo best, fly in early and look for the So Cal beaches and rooftops to hang out in and doo. They really like Laguna Beach on their way to the Mission at San Juan Capistrano.;) ;)

With that in mind, remember Swallows do, doo doo, and if your not waxed up? These are smart birds.

Now its not as bad a coots, because coots can't fly until they do their doo doo.

The side waxing is not as important as top waxing because Swallow don't like to doo on moving vehicles unless, your just backing out of your garage, then they will hit your windshield causing an interference. Than while you've stooped to clear your view, you got it! They all fly the nest and hit the stooped object. How do they know?

I'll see you all on Saturday with a fresh coat of wax.;) ;)

How about I just say it now... wow nice Retrax cover, in case I forget. As far as the rain, usually I'm a fan, but not for today and tomorrow. It's going to mess up my commute home tonight and put a damper on tomorrow's plans. That blows, but I still plan to there, just with a dirty truck.

BUMP!

Any of you SoCal Ridgeline owners who are still hedging or may have just stumbled on this link tonight, GO TO THIS MEET!

I'm positive I would be there if it were feasible. Instead I'm biding my time for two more weeks and driving to AZ for the meet in Sedona. I cannot wait. If you are in SoCal, you could go have some fun and then let me know about it. Then I could live vicariously and feed my enthusiasm for the AZ meet.

I'm sure it will be fine for you to simply show up if you haven't committed thus far. Tony and Ron have worked hard to pull this meet together and they want to see as many trucks as possible. Rain or shine, go show off your truck!

yea, I too won't able to make it to the meet. I just got in last night and temecula and escondido was a major pour last night. alot of people swurving and trying to speed in the rain last night on the 15 south..Geez:eek: If people don't know how to drive in inclement weather they should stay in the far right of the lane and not cause accidents or traffic. I lost count last night how many times i had to avoid people, driving in the rain. Witnessed 3 cars last night swurve and hydroplane while trying to drive 60mph:eek: . Enough ranting...can't force people or change how they drive in bad weather:rolleyes: Well hope everyone enjoys the meet and drive safely there and back. If anyone see me driving around in my RL with ROC sticker on the right side of the back window in my RL amazon green RTL give a honk...later and enjoy..expect to see some pictures tonight. Rain turning to snow here today too. It was in the 50's this morning and that felt great while it lasted. It's going to be colder and unsettled the next couple of days. As for the rest of the SoCal ROC'ers, Everyone had a blast! Talk about turning some heads! We were getting all the looks, questions, a few jokes but in the positive! There were so many of us that we overwelmed Ruby's  !

We couldn't eat there so we all drove in trail to Capistrano Beach Park for the Kodak moment and took the group photo then left there and drove to Dana Point Harbor were we found ourselves in the brig  !

No guys we were not arrested The Brig Restaurant! The remainder of us who could stay, 13 of us, swarmed upon the Brig Restaurant and ate! 5S Dude took the majority of the pictures at Ruby's, Capistrano Beach Park, and The Brig Restaurant. I finally took my camera out and took some pictures of the remaining owners with their Ridgelines and family or friends. They are the following....

Ron '5S Dude' and Cindy Yonehara
Daryl 'Gadgetz' and Lydia Mayekawa
Lincoln 'Racer-X' and Monica

Luis 'lgmendez' Mendez aka The Honda Whore,
Savita Mendez,
Paladin and the 'Silver Surfer'
The Smurfs'.

And the winner of the set of door sills, hand crafted by the Door Bling Master Jedi himself, for the member who traveled the farthest to our meet and greet, went to Meanmachine 19! 452 mile, 2 miles further than Arizona Ridgeliner.

Also, Gadgetz brought ROC mugs for those he could confirm who were going to actually be at the meet and greet! Thank you very much Daryl, you are the man!

But that isn't the end of a great day my ROC family! We were graced by a phone call from our Queen of the ROC herself and we all thanked her for the beautiful banner she made for us which we all signed with our first name and screen name. Any SoCal ROC member who comes to the next meet and did not sign the banner may do so....No John Hancock styles please! :) My apologies to my partner with the meet, 5S Dude, forget to get your picture with your truck. I hope all of the ROC family will enjoy the pictures, I hope the SoCal ROC members who could attend had a great time, I hope the one's who could not stay the whole time can make it the next time, and the SoCal ROC members who were there in spirit will attend the next one! Thank you all for helping out and being apart of the BIGGEST ROC MEET AND GREET IN THE COUNTRYTHUS FAR! Meanmachine 19, the bar is set high my friend! :D

What a fine group of happy faces! I'm sure some of you are still wearing smiles.

A BIG CONGRATS on the biggest Ridgeline meet so far.

That will make it awfully hard to top in Sedona, but we could do it if all the AZ people make an effort. Come on Arizonans. I think you have people from at least three states coming to help you make AZ the biggest meet yet.

Any other out of staters are welcome too!

All these great reports from today's meet increase my anticipation and joy in going to the one in two weeks. :D

I'd love to hear from more of you that were at the meet today. Everyone has a story or two to tell. Let 'em rip.

Gosh, I love the pics! Sure makes me want to be there. Why does the working life always get in the way. Now if I was completely retired, instead of just partially, I could take several weeks and leave today for the meet in Sedona. Great job on the pics and happy to see all had a great time.:)

This is Wiley reporting in with a recap (and a few pics located here (http://jimblake.com/pics/2006/roc_meet.htm))

I pulled into Ruby's at 12:10 to see Toobuku frantically waving his arms and signaling me to park over by the other Ridgelines ...like I could somehow miss the 15 or so Ridgelines parked together. The parking at Ruby's was pretty tight and I couldn't get in close to the other trucks, but I found a spot and joined everybody to watch the remaining trucks come in. Then, we though we would all get a chance to park together in the Montage employee parking lot ...but due to the confusion on the part of Montage security, we all parked and then were told to leave. Unfortunately by that time the Ruby's lot was full (and many of us had lost our choice spots).

So we decided to head south in what could only be described as the ROC version of the Macy's thanksgiving day parade. We defiantly turned a lot of heads going down the coast in one long precession of Ridgelines. Unfortunately we lost a few of our fellow members in route to the photo op. Sorry guys, we all tried but it was bound to happen with so many trucks trying to follow each other ...it's just something we'll have to work on in time for the Lake Paris BBQ event!!

At the beach, gadgetz surprised all of us Ridgeline owners with Ridgeline coffee mugs. Then we took some pictures (which gadgetz printed out for each of us during lunch). The convoy then headed back up north to the Dana Point harbor for some lunch and the presentation of the door sills (Thanks 5S Dude …and my order is coming!) and then we all went outside to check out each others trucks and ask ourselves the question “What am I going to add to my truck next!!”. The classic shot here was the blue trucks all lined up.

I gotta say that it was a very enjoyable day (with absolutely PERFECT weather) and there are a lot of great people on this board. Toobuku has an infectious personality that just makes you want to smile and have a good time and I have to thank him for all the effort he put in today to keep everybody together through the various location changes and for making everybody feel like they belonged …even though they may have been driver a silver truck which is not as flippin’ sweet as a black truck.

A few of you are alumni to this club and many are new but the feeling I have for all of you is the same. I'm glad to be part of such a wonderful group and I hope one day we can have a meet where we can all say hello in person and break bread with our extended family and give and get lots of hugs.

On July 1, 2005 it was just a passing thought! By October 21, 2005 and more SoCal ROC joining the ROC, it became an idea! December 4, 2005, It was a demand! So being one of the members in SoCal on the site the longest at that time, Some how I found myself trying to put together a meet and greet for SoCal ROC. I attended 2 meets with the EOC and had some idea what needed to be done thanks to Ed (Sheniferous). So on January 16, 2006 I talked with 5S Dude and was persuaded to set up a meet for February 5, 2006.

I wanted some feed back and got nothing. While I was waiting for feedback, the EOC had a meet in San Diego on January 28, 2006 and as always invited the ROC to attend and guess what, the first SoCal ROC Meet and Greet materialized and had 3 members attending. After talking with meanmachine19, he told me to just set a date about a month in advance and let people arrange their schedule around that date. It sounded like a good Idea so with myself and 5S Dude organizing it, We first got the idea of a location fairly centralized for everyone, then feedback from the members.

This time the response was better. We decided on Ruby's Auto Diner in Laguna Beach, CA it give us a nice view driving there, good food and a place near by to take a group photo and a scenic view and ample parking for our trucks. It went slow at first not too many members committed to going. As the date got closer the numbers started to grow! 6, then 8, then finally about 11 with about 2 weeks to go before the meet and greet.

I drove out to the location and took pictures on the diner, and the park to post on the thread to draw more interest. With Lady Ridge making our SoCal ROC banner, more interest came and people wanted to get involved and help with the planning or getting things we needed or helping with expenses. A week away and the excitement is growing.

Starting to see more Ridgelines on the street, stopping them and asking them to join us. As my excitement grew so did the membership, newbie's were coming out the woodwork all of a sudden and wanted to know about the meet and wanted to know if they could attend. The numbers were getting so big that a friendly rivalry developed to see who will break the Ohio meet record?

A week away and the banner is being shipped, more members are joining and want to be apart of the club. We're picking up name tags, sharpies, batteries, tripods, washing trucks to get ready, but wait! Weather forecast for rain Friday and Saturday. After a month of planning, it's going to rain....rain or shine, the faithful were committed to having this meet and greet and it would not be denied! With the addition of those who were confirmed, the newbies joining the forum and the ones who could not give a commitment until the day before or of the meet and greet, the 11 Ridgelines we had a week prior, which broke the Ohio meet record, was blown away by ourselves when 19 Ridgelines showed up for lunch.

Some started to arrive early, some right on time, some fashionably late, but it was okay. After the parking lot fiasco, we caravaned down to Capistrano Beach Park, it's right on the ocean with a great view. We had another Kodak moment and now our stomachs would not be denied!. We drove to Dana Point Harbor where we ate, drank, and were happy! We had more Kodak moments, looked at every ones trucks, shook hands, hugs all around and a 12:00 lunch became a party that ended around 4:00 PM!

What a great beautiful day to have a record setting meet and greet!
For those who could not stay the whole time with us, you missed a treat but we understand why you had to leave so soon and we hope to see you longer at the next one.

Thank you SoCal ROC and the rest of the ROC family for all your moral support!

Tony (Toobuku) and Ron (5S Dude)
