UPDATE: NOW AVAILABLE!!!!

I'm thinking of getting this product. (http://www.muthco.com/products/smtechnology.htm) I received this email from the company:

"Thank you for your interest in SignalŪ Mirrors! We currently do not have plans to develop a Signal MirrorŪ retrofit specific kit for your Ridgeline. This is due to low customer demand to date. Your request is important and helps us to determine what customer interest exists for specific vehicles. We will contact you if we do offer a kit in the future."

I think this product is a great safety feature. I've seen this type of signal mirror on older Ford Expeditions and I think they are a great feature. With the size of the Ridgeline, these mirrors or side markers would work well (I think the signal mirrors look better). This company makes signal markers for the Honda Pilot so if we can bother them enough maybe we can get them to develop a set for our Ridgelines...let's get the emails going!!! Here is the email address of the rep that responded back to me <cwedge@muthco.com>

Fill out this request form (http://www.muthco.com/vehiclerequestform.htm)...let the manufacturer "hear" our voices!!!

These mirrors look real interesting to me. I didn't see anything on their website about price. Did you talk to the rep about a price range to expect if they made it for our RLs? Or was it on the website and I didn't see it?

I actually found them on a site Vertrkr used for his wireless back up sensors. Check this out. (http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/cartrucsigmi.html) Hope this helps. I'm guessing they will price them in $200 range for a pair...remember you must factor that mirrors will need to be heated which will add to the cost.

Thanks for the info. I read some place on their site that you can replace heated mirrors with non-heated. Here in So. CA I don't have much use for heated, and I could keep cost down. I will let them know I am interested too.

Not quite. Build date was March 26. Anxiously awaiting the call from the dealer.

I like the idea of mirror turn signals. I hope that this company will make them for the Ridgeline.

If you go to the link I supplied, there is a sample installation manual. The manufacturer states that a "professional" can install the mirrors in 2 hours. The install looks fairly easy. The toughest part will be looking for the turn signal wires.

Brushing the dust off this thread...I just talked with them and added my name to the list of people wanting their turn signal mirrors. For you RT and RTS owners, they make a retrofit for heated mirrors! Call or email them so that they will make this a reality for the Ridgeline.

I just wanted to revive this discussion for all the new ROC members out there. Check out the original post for information. If we bombard the manufacturer with requests for our RLs, I think they may consider making one for our truck. They currently make them for the Odyssey, Pilot and CRV. Let's add our Ridgeline to that list! Here is a request form (http://www.muthco.com/vehiclerequestform.htm) we can use to inform the manufacturer of our interest in this product...please fill it out...the more the better.

I stuck the thread for you since so many are interested in getting this. I too am working on a solution to this problem. My first attempt was only marginal. I have something hooked up right now but it is not bright enough. I only did the drivers side.

My goal is to do a "how to" on this that costs less than $50 in parts including the purchase price of all the tools. The install would take less than 2 hours to complete. So far I have the second part achieved but need to find the right parts.

I want my mirror signals to not be big and gawdy and at the same time be visible from the front and back of the mirrors. I have already figured out a way to run the wires through the mirrors and use the front turn signals as a trigger for the mirror signals. (BTW I think I have solved the mirror drainage problem. All it takes is a little drilling on the bottom side of the housing.)

BTW, You can get those stick on signals that go on the mirror glass from Ebay and hook them up with little or no trouble.

I'd be very interested in signals that would cost around $50, not $200, that would be that easy to install and visible from both the front and rear and not too large. Please share what you have so far as maybe that'd be enough to get started.
Same for the drainage info for the mirror. Sounds like a quick and easy upgrade but invaluable information again.
THANKS for the work you've done.

These are NOW available, see my post above. These are not a generic stick on item, they replace the glass fully, with an imbedded LED. When they are off, they look like stock mirrors. When you turn signals are ON, they come to life.

Martin, I believe they have them on many of the Acura badged Hondas. I agree, this feature should have been standard when they came out with the RL. It really seems like they dropped the ball on this feature considering they covered many other things.

I am sure many will love these and they may add a bit of safety.

but around here, the norm is not to use a turn signal....it is sooo bad that the local news even made a joke about it with "things you need to know when you move to North Carolina"

I try to use them most of the time...but it's easy to 'blend'

Are you just interested in the mirror or the mirror and housing? I will replace my mirror when the Signal Mirrors come in. I would be interested in selling. PM with questions.

My kit just arrived today. I plan on doing the install this weekend. 4 hours seems a bit long to do this install. We'll see if I could cut that time in half. I'll have pics for people to enjoy. BTW, I ordered the amber colored LEDs. They had to be special ordered (at least that is what they told me). They normally come with red LEDs. If you look at your RL the turn signals are amber so I wanted the mirrors to match.

yea, the orange led mirrors take about a week to ship and are made to order. The red are in stock and ship when you order.

somewhat off topic, but am considering doing this so I was looking at the installation instructions which look pretty easy.

On page 11, of the assy guide, it sure looks like the Ridge used to prepare the assy guide has water in the cabin. Looks like my first one.

I finished my install today. The directions provided were good. I went with the amber colored LEDs to match the current turn signal color scheme. I must say it looks very good. I will take pictures of the final install during the daylight. Thanks again to Burtman Industries for offering this accessory. I've been waiting for this part for more than a year. Now, all I need is a nice tailgate lock that does not jam the mechanism.

I'm just curious, why don't you like the "jam the mechanism" locks? I've had my DIY one now for over a year and it still works fine. There isn't any noticeable wear on the mechanism either.

In any case, there is an emergency method to open the tailgate that doesn't even involve using the handle built in by Honda. To the best of my knowledge cannot be circumvented by any locking mechanism because it is opened by methods not associated with either handle. I don't think that anyone really knows about it but Honda techs. (& me) :)

Even if someone broke my locking mechanism or physically ripped both handles off, I could still open the tailgate. This "work around" made by Honda really defeats the purpose of any locking mechanism that can be made unless you circumvent the workaround as well.

I was behind a GMC truck the other day and noticed that it had red signals in the mirrors and amber ones in the taillights. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics, day and night if possible, of your all-amber install. I'm also looking forward to the price of these coming down someday, if even for a sale. :)

Items like this, no. You could easily leave this item on the truck when you turn it back in, OR, you could reverse the install and put your stock mirrors back on before you turn it in, and sell the used kit on this forum, :)

FYI ROC MEMBERS, I PURCHASED AN INSTALLED TURN SMART MIRRORS THAT BLINK ON MY RL AND THEY REALLY ARE GREAT. THE MIRRORS ARE STICK ON AND WIRELESS EXCEPT FOR THE TRANSMITTER IN THE BACK THAT WIRES INTO BOTH YOUR TRUCK TURN SIGNALS.THE MIRRORS ARE SOLAR POWERED.
EACH MIRROR HAS A RECEIVER THAT CHECKS FOR A SIGNAL FROM THE TRANSMITTER.

TURM SMART MIRRORS CAN BE PURCHASED FROM AUTOANYTHING.COM:rolleyes:

Has anyone else tried these wireless "smart mirrors"????

I had mine installed today. The LED's are red, though. I didn't realize they came in different colors. Regardless, I still think they look great. Tomorrow, we're expecting 4-7 inches of snow in the city. A true test of these heated mirrors. I'll post again if they don't work good.

They need to make these extendable towing mirrors as no other company makes them at this time.

Just a quick thought. The 2010 Pilot incorporated side mirror turn signals... Part number for the mirror is 76250-SZA-A32ZK - MIRROR ASSY., L. DOOR *NH731P*(R.C.)(HEATED) NH731P: CRYSTAL BLACK PEARL - 213.17 - Part 12 in the drawing...http://www.bernardiparts.com/BVModules/CategoryTemplates/SearchOptions/ImageStreamer.aspx
Pilot only offers the mirrors with side turning indicators on the touring lineup. You can buy the whole mirror assembly, or the Mirror casing (#5) and piece it together. (You'd also need 1&2 - and a possible wiring harness) In the end it would probably just be easier to buy the whole assembly then splice into the OEM wiring

I'm curious if this would work... even if the whole assembly wont bolt up, what if the Mirror Casing did.. Just some thoughts...
