I've only been shopping for a RL for a short while. I know the $1,000 dealer incentive ended yesterday, but for those who have been following Honda's pricing for a while, has it been your experience that those incentives come back eventually?

Also, am I right in assuming that the prices for the 06's will only come down as time goes on?

I know my dealer was VERY anxious to get my sale closed yesterday. I picked up my Ridge today. The websites out there should tell you if the incentive was continued for this month.

Just curious, cant find anything on the rebate... looking to buy another car & the pilot will be great for us... anyway edmunds, autobyte etc... and honda, show no mention of a rebate... I'll call the dealer tomorrow, because they made no mention of the rebate ending! snooze, ya lose:rolleyes:

It's not a 'rebate', it's 'dealer cash'. So you will not see any paperwork on it. If you don't negotiate it into your deal, the dealer will get to keep it. And you don't have to 'sign it over' either.

Go to edmunds.com and look in incentives. The dealer cash is called marketing support.

Yep, the incentive is back. Everyone who has put off waiting, buy now, as they won't extend the incentive for ever. :D

Cash to Dealer starts 3/1/2006 and Ends 4/3/2006

This is an excellent negotiating tool!

Might or might not be extended again???

You definitely have to mention the "Manufacturer to Dealer Incentive" to your salesperson, otherwise they will not just give it to you up front. I negotiated a pretty good price on mine and then I said, "OK....so does that include that $1000 dealer incentive that Honda is offering right now"? She gave me the "deer in the headlights" look and said, "I have to go check with my manager". She came back with the print out that had the $1000 incentive information on it and said, "This is the first I heard of it". I said, "Funny.....because the incentive has been out there for over a month"!

Long story short....your best weapon you can bring with you when dealing for a new vehicle is information. My opinion.....go armed to the teeth!

Hilarious...the $1000 incentive "ended" on 2/28, and was "brought back" on 3/1. So it's back.

I pity anyone who's buying a car and doesn't do internet research first.

Well, was there something else in effect in Feb?

On 2/18, CarsDirect had the RT for $23,417 for my zip code.

On the morning of 3/1, it was $25,417.

Later that afternoon, and now, it's $24,417.

Any guess what the other $1000 was?

If you remember the "employee pricing" binge of the big 3 last year, it happened several times. :)

Just got back from a dealer, were looking for a pilot for another car, that has no incentive, however when I mentioned it to the salesman on the RL, he said no way! I had him look on Edmunds, he still didn't believe! asked his manager and yep, it's true... Sad that most will not know about this little secret, as even when you tell them...they play dumb!

I think one of two things are going on:

1 - Sales manager does not tell salespeople & therefore can use it to pad the deal.

2 - Salespeople just play dumb. There are a LOT of uneducated buyers & salespeople out there! Dealers love them!

The $1000 incentive in not available on the special lease Honda is running. That the reason we don't mention it right off the bat.
