danimal 03-03-2006, 08:06 PM Dear Honda,
Please take the postive public reaction to this concept, and make a production version as close to it as possible.
I think Honda should make this truck as a new trim level like the Civic SI, RSX Type-S, etc. However, I know that for those cars, the new trim level includes an engine upgrade as well, and this might not be possible for the Ridgeline. If possible, they should NOT make this into a Honda Factory Performance or A-Spec package simply bolted onto a regular Ridgeline.
Things I think that should be carried over from the Street Sport Concept are the front bumper/grille (NOT SIMPLY A BUMPER LIP), sideskirts, rear bumper, fender flares that flow into the bumpers, trim around the bed, bed cover (that is relatively easy to remove/install), upgraded wheels, and perhaps a "sportier" suspension. I realize things like side-exit exhaust, automatic bed cover, the trim pieces inside the bed, widened track, and upgraded brakes are not realistic, but that's ok. Also, I realize that very little, if none of the interior modifications would be carried over. The sporty steering wheel from the TSX would be nice though.
I know this sporty truck would not appeal to everyone, but I believe a strong market for sporty pickup trucks exists, as evidenced by competitor vehicles such as the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner, Chevy Silverado SS, Dodge Ram SRT-10, and Ford F-150 Lightning (although their financial situation has forced them to discontinue this model). An increase in engine performace would be ideal, but not necessary in my case.
If you make this truck, I WILL buy one.
I hear Honda is seriously considering public reaction in making a decision, so please respond if you love this truck!
~Dan

SparkEE 03-03-2006, 08:59 PM I'm with you! I'd trade mine in if they offered something like that! I'd be willing to pay the premium for it too, especially if engine and suspension upgrades were included. I could see paying mid 40's for a truck like that easy (less than the SRT10, since I don't see them matching the output of the V-10).
I would also be pretty happy to be able to by an HFP package to get a similar look if the price was right.
Toobuku 03-03-2006, 10:00 PM "I know this sporty truck would not appeal to everyone"
Are you kidding! I want the spoiler on the tailgate of the truck and the roof! I like the blue lights as well! I'll redo my tonneau cover to have that one! I can transform my truck to that if I can find out where to get the plastic molding from!
RTL44 03-03-2006, 11:24 PM I would absolutely sell my current RL and buy this.
Steve Smith 03-05-2006, 03:51 PM Talk about a no brainer! Love my truck, but........Hell yes I'd buy one! As long as black isn't the only color choice that is!
TSbiker 03-13-2006, 10:12 PM Wow, I like this SSC.
I have been thinking about getting a RTL with Navi and towing package soon.
But, I can wait till this one comes out since my Jeep is still running fine.
Thanks for sharing these photos.:)
BannedUser 03-13-2006, 10:18 PM I'd put this next to Ridgena in a heart beat. :p
RxHil 03-16-2006, 01:10 PM You can definately add me to this want list!!!
localboy 03-16-2006, 01:31 PM Put me down for one! I am still shopping.
I think this should be the H&A April special, anyone else? :D
rfs830 03-17-2006, 07:27 AM I would get one. Just make sure we can hook up a hitch to it. Also leave the bed like normal so I can put stuff in there but everything else is great. Love the toper on that thing. I love the look of that truck.
level0netrauma 12-04-2006, 09:03 PM Great Looking Truck.. But How About Upgraded Performance Also? If They Could Do That Then I'll Trade Mine In A Heartbeat.
boxsky 12-07-2006, 09:28 PM That is a nice looking truck and even the wife agrees. Needs at least 300hp / 350 torque and the bed should be extended another foot.
Honda should build it but never will
ridgeline2006 12-08-2006, 05:01 AM Who makes these add-on. If they are like the fender flairs someone should be able to reproduce them. I would add them to my RL if they were made available. The spoiler on the tailgate and roof looks great.
mrlizzzard 12-08-2006, 07:56 AM Gimme a turbo diesel,DRL's,simple in/out 4x4 drive system.Let it pull 10,000#,take the money.oooohhhhhhh made in USA.
steelrman21 12-08-2006, 08:31 AM I like the wheels. Where can you buys those?
RTL2NV 12-09-2006, 05:08 PM I love everything minus the "wide-body"... Especially the bed cover and spoiler... Wheels are to drool over!
MikeT 12-09-2006, 05:28 PM I would definitely have to get a second job, but yes, I would buy one !!!
RTL2NV 12-09-2006, 05:39 PM I forgot to mention the steering wheel....
Point me in the direction of where to get these parts being that this truck will most likely NOT be produced.
RTL2NV 12-13-2006, 10:28 AM If it helps any......

rfs830 12-13-2006, 06:18 PM when is honda going to make this truck available for us. Its been what a over a year now since the first time we saw this truck. I would buy this truck in a heartbeat. Honda were are you. You show us this truck and yet do not even make any of the parts available to use. At least give me the rims and tonneau cover. Please
IFLY Ridge 12-14-2006, 02:32 AM I would buy one of these in a flash. :)
tuff_kuffs 12-21-2006, 06:06 AM Nice:cool:
Hondo 03-12-2007, 09:31 PM That is what attracted me to the Ridgeline. I didn't pay any attention to it prior to Sema.
X-Brawn 03-16-2007, 07:04 PM Give me mine in Aberdeen Green! I LOVE the front end.
Ericc 05-20-2007, 07:18 PM I would buy that truck in a heartbeat! The only thing I would change is the shifter knob... please put a triptronic shifter on the floor, and give the transmission firm shifts!
nightcrawler1961 12-28-2007, 01:15 PM Yes Yes Yes, I will take one of those, thank you !!!!!
starfixer 01-01-2008, 06:09 PM Gimme one now please.....Beautiful...really beautiful.
louisiana ridgeline 01-02-2008, 01:57 AM I would trade in my 07 for one.
VoicesInMyHead 01-02-2008, 06:12 AM Very cool! I would hope that although there seems to be not much left off in terms of accessories - there would still be room to add-on/upgrade/customize so there could still be some sort of individuality between mine and the other trillion you would sell! ;)
The only thing I would say is, read the other posts on this forum about control knob/switch positioning! The Lights, VSA & other switches that are dang near just above the freakin' emergency brake are a bit out of place in the natural flow of safe utilization.
However, GIMME ONE! :D
ChrisM 01-02-2008, 06:21 AM After seeing the truck up close at the ROC meet, I like the outside. The inside, specifically from the back seat to the back of the truck including the bed would make me take a pass on the truck.
shovelhd 01-02-2008, 06:22 AM How much do you think it would sell for? I'm thinking $55K.
5S Dude 01-02-2008, 06:57 AM At the very least they could offer the six piston big brake kit and those kewl looking fogs……
ChrisM 01-02-2008, 05:20 PM How much do you think it would sell for? I'm thinking $55K.
Someone mentioned at the ROC meet that Honda has about twice that much in it. I'd think somewhere around $80k would be more in the ballpark. I'm not saying that it's worth that much but that would be my guess. If they ever decide to crush it like most manufacturers do with their prototypes after a certain amount of time, I would love to have the entire front end forward of the hood. It looks kind close to our trucks but is really a lot different. It's more aggressive than the production models. See how the hood lines follow all the way to the bottom of the front end. Very nice. If Honda had marketed this front end on the RL vs. the one that we all got, Ridgeline sales would be twice what they are right now. IMHO Honda blew it by not offering this front end. If they did offer this front end as an aftermarket item and it would bolt up, I would swap mine out.
I'd also really like those LED fog lights.

5S Dude 01-02-2008, 06:06 PM I concur! Honda should offer this nose job as the “2009 facelift”
djeaux 01-02-2008, 06:12 PM I'd like to find the aluminum mesh speaker grille covers. They would match up nicely with the dash trim, doncha think?
geotech 01-02-2008, 07:25 PM The one in St. Louis that I liked was about 15' to the west.;)
Signed,
Geo Joe Bob Tech
PS: Both have about the same chance of actual production. Somewhere between slim and none.
ONTHEVERGE 01-02-2008, 07:30 PM Nice to see the all out jobs and then to see the common man come in and do something similar and for a fraction of the cost; gotta love the world we live in.
ridgeline2006 01-02-2008, 07:34 PM Well Someone put this RL together.. Who did this? How do we get in touch with these people? There must be a way to contact the people who built the mods and find out if these mods are available to us. What do you think?
At the St Louis Meet I fell in love with the Street Sport Concept.
I did love the outside of the truck in the front & in the back but not the cover. I could live with the front seats but not the rear non folding only 2 passengers in the back.

I agree. Here are the best 2 rear interior pictures that I took. I think that this back seat configuration it has it's place in a show truck but not in production.

I also like the steering wheel on this truck better than the one that we got.
BTW - It hasn't been discussed a lot around here but I hate the way that the steering wheel blocks the damn instrument panel. Am I the only one who has this problem? I can't see the gas gauge at all when I'm driving. It takes a concerted lean to the side to see what the engine temperature is or how much gas is in the truck.

djeaux 01-02-2008, 09:15 PM I am getting a terrible notion to try fabricating a pair of these goobers... Maybe even two pair...
One other question: What are the extra buttons on the steering wheel (at 4 o'clock)?
VoicesInMyHead 01-02-2008, 09:21 PM One other question: What are the extra buttons on the steering wheel (at 4 o'clock)?
The Ejection Seat and the 50 cal in the grill
Bond. James Bond.
John32070 01-03-2008, 06:58 AM If I remember right, one is the button for the auto bed cover.
I had to laugh when I asked the guy to turn on the fog lights and you couldn't hardly see them light up and he admitted they were really more for looks than funtion.
I think they could sell some but I think it would be limited to the big cities like LA, LV, Houston, Miami, and the like. I think they would sell far more of the off road version (especially if they offered 1-2 other colors besides the pea green).
tboysen 01-21-2008, 09:05 PM Recent history shows that only a small number of those saying they would buy a concept-to-production actually pull the trigger and plop down the hefty premium. The others out now are not hitting any sales records, and the market for big gas eating performance rides is shrinking. Yes they will sell, but not enough to waste special die's and precious manufacturing lines on. At best it would be a loss. Maybe an increase in modding manufacturers selling the kits for this would satisfy the hunger for a performance RL.
I love the concept, but It would not be my next truck....
