: My Painted Grill & Front Window Tint
meinahonda 03-10-2006, 09:54 PM In the past month I've noticed a lot of ROC members doing little things to thier RLs that make huge differences. So I decided to jump on the band-wagon with the two that I thought would look good on my Ridge. I want to say thanks to those of you that have posted your pics of these mods and helping me make the decision to go through with this. Thanks.
First I had the front passenger and driver side windows tinted to match the rest of the privacy glass.

The next mod I did was painted the front grill to make it look like a floating Honda emblem. I decided to go ahead and remove the front bumper instead of taping off the grill. Not as hard as I thought but then again its a Honda. I used to own civics before, so I knew this couldn't be that hard.

Toobuku 03-10-2006, 10:01 PM Man That looks great! ;) Wish I could get away with the front window tint in California but the Chippies would birth a cow. If I tried, they would take great pleasure in citing me!
5S Dude 03-10-2006, 10:20 PM Wow meinahonda! Very nice photos showing the painting process! :p
Wiley 03-10-2006, 10:41 PM I gotta get in on that grill painting.

BKLYNBOY11 03-11-2006, 07:56 AM You'll get stopped a lot for the tint.
localboy 03-11-2006, 08:17 AM Beautiful job! And thanks for the extra effort showing the process. I would love to see that front end out in the sun. Do you have another pic?
2006Ridgeline 03-11-2006, 08:22 AM I'm a little dense! Is the grill a two-piece assembly or what?
Love the look! Thanks :)
EDIT: I took a closer look and now I see that it's a 3 piece assembly. Now I understand. At first I didn't see the H logo as a separate piece so I didn't really understand how it was all painted, etc. Told ya I was a little dense!

kanji 03-11-2006, 10:40 AM its legal to tint fronts in Arizona isn't? I know that you can tint your fronts in Nevada.
AmazonRidge 03-11-2006, 07:33 PM Here's a question about the grill:
It looks like there are 3 parts to the grill: black background, chrome 2nd layer, then chrome H. It looks as if the chrome H is mounted directly to the existing black grill itself, and not the chrome "middle" layer.
Is it possible to just remove the middle layer, or does it not look right?

The layer that gets painted actually covers some screw holes and snap hooks when installed. Those would show if you just leave the piece out.

Yeah its illeagal in AZ. I'm just tired of all these Escalades and other high end vehicals getting away with it in AZ. Plus I think the cops have bigger fish to fry. If an AZ cop stops you for tint and tint only it must be a slow day in hell ;)

DPS will stop you in a heart beat! At least they do up here further north!
Window tint is not totally illegal for front windows...
"1. Front side wing vents and windows that have a substance or material in conjunction with glazing material that has a light transmission of thirty-three per cent plus or minus three per cent and a luminous reflectance of thirty-five per cent plus or minus three per cent."
And there is a medical exclusion to this...
"G. On application from a person required for medical reasons to be shielded from the direct rays of the sun that is supported by written attestation of this fact from a physician licensed pursuant to title 32, chapter 13 or 17, the department may issue an exemption from this section for a motor vehicle belonging to the person or in which the person is a habitual passenger. A person may operate a vehicle or alter the color or reduce the light transmitted through the side or rear windows of a vehicle pursuant to an exemption issued by the director."
The whole statute can be found at:
Arizona Window Tint Laws (http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/28/00959-01.htm&Title=28&DocType=ARS)
But to be enforceable, they usually need to have a tint meter or a judge will dismiss it. I have mine tinted but to the required legal limit...

I'm illegal  ... whoops, I didn't mean to say that!! ... no, I'm not sure how the the tint got on there.
I have 20% on all the windows. With that % on the backs, it really sets off the back as darker so the fronts look lighter by comparison.
