American Honda calling you?

I got a call today from American Honda, from the Technical Research and Support (TRS) Group at 1-800-880-1072.
The person asked about what I tow...length, weight, brand, age. I told him I currently only use the 4-pin
connector (small trailer for 2 Yamaha Superjets, which I haven't towed with the Ridgeline yet) but plan to purchase
a boat and trailer that requires the center pin. I mentioned this group and how some folks with earlier build dates
don't have an easy and free solution to use the advertised 7 pins of the 7 pin connector. He acknowledged the issue
but it didn't seem to be the objective of the call. At least not his objective. Maybe the data from these calls will be
used to make a decision on how to handle the 7-pin issue.

Just curious if anyone else got a call like this.

I wonder if they will be calling more people about towing. I wanted to tow a camping trailer at some point but fear the issues with the 7 pin connector. I would certainly like the chance to talk to them about it.

I just bought a brand new "Wells Cargo" 6' x 12' enclosed trailer a week ago. Single axle so no trailer brakes and only use the 4 pin connector. No harness, hitch,or mechanical problems towing this size trailer at all. The Ridge can really suck down the go juice when towing though!:(

I got a call from Honda today asking about what I tow. I spoke with a very nice young man who told me the purpose (at least part of it) of the survey was concerning the 7-pin connector issue. At appears that Honda is finally showing some concern about repairing the problem.

Dortor J, there would be no problem towing a camper trailer with the missing reverse wire unless the trailer has surge disc brakes or reverse lights that you want to use. Most camp trailers have electric brakes and the pin that controls those type of brakes is functional.
