25 Year Honda Owner 03-16-2006, 03:57 PM Received this survey on line today:
http://sms.greenfieldonline.com/stm/verifypage.aspx?sname=0600590a&src=11&ids=771690930
After completeing the preliminary portion, I get a note saying I was not qualified to contine. Anyone else get this? If you do the numbers, 1 in 200 to win 5 $500 prizes in a drawing, there were only 1,000 surveys. All my answers were pro Honda.
DoctorJ 03-16-2006, 03:59 PM I made it all the way through and it was very long.
arteegee 03-16-2006, 04:18 PM I got a note saying I already completed it.
milehigh 03-16-2006, 04:25 PM I just completed it a few minutes ago.
csimo 03-16-2006, 04:32 PM I received the invitation too, but when I looked at the survey it was obvious that it was not professionally done. The email said it was from Honda Motors, but it came from a known spammer... not Honda.
The survey is from one of the services that anyone can use. Not a company that Honda or any major company would be involved with.
I think someone is trying to get personal information from Honda owners.
My advice would be to NOT give any information to this survey.
-Joe
milehigh 03-16-2006, 04:47 PM Actually, Greenfield is a fairly well known publicly traded company used by many large corporations for consumer research/surveys.
UltraCuzz 03-16-2006, 04:48 PM I just finished it . Hope it was from Honda looked OK to me but what do I know.
Duncan 03-16-2006, 04:53 PM I also completed the survey today; I guess I was deemed worthy somehow. It seemed professional, a few too many odd questions about my emotions when driving my RL. Maybe it was spam, I hope not, recovering from the bombardment of unwanted mail is torturous. I guess I'll see.
milehigh 03-16-2006, 04:59 PM a few too many odd questions about my emotions when driving my RL
Yeah, I noticed that too, but my hunch is they're looking to put together a list of people who would be good candidates for focus groups in select markets. I've seen/participated in this sort of thing before...
csimo 03-16-2006, 05:08 PM Actually, Greenfield is a fairly well known publicly traded company used by many large corporations for consumer research/surveys.
You're free to believe anything you want, but they have total annual sales of under $90 million. Mostly very small companies or individuals. Their PR's list companies that are very small... not a single major corp.
The auto industry uses two companies for the most part. JD Power and Harris. Both are legit businesses that aren't interested in some kid doing an internet poll.
We'll probably never know for sure, but the questions on this poll just weren't right in my opinion.
I'm betting someone was trying to mine for data. Nearly 100% sure it wasn't Honda.

milehigh 03-16-2006, 06:08 PM We'll probably never know for sure, but the questions on this poll just weren't right in my opinion.
They didn't ask for anything dangerously personal (only an email address) and if I get any spam it's easy to block through my ISP/server. Who cares if someone knows I like driving my RL and I think it's a great city/suburban vehicle?? All of the data asked in the survey could have been gleaned from the posts on this board... you'd actually get more personal info from this board. If some small company hired them to survey people who own RL's because they want to know whether they should market Gummi RL candy in CO, who cares?
25 Year Honda Owner 03-16-2006, 06:09 PM Pasted from the bottom of the survey:
American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
1919 Torrance Blvd.
Torrance, CA 90501
If this is not from Honda then they best be getting some legal advice.
brich 03-16-2006, 06:37 PM Then there's the possibility that this survey is sponsored by a company in Detroit? Maybe NOW they want to listen...:D
ridgelinewannabe 03-16-2006, 06:59 PM I just completed the survey also. Some of it seemed a little silly, while other aspects of it seemed to hit home. Oh well, I guess we'll eventually find out rather it was legit or not.:)
STEVE FROST 03-16-2006, 07:30 PM I just finished as well.
I assumed it was from Honda, green field was conducting it.
Definitly a marketing servey, more questions on perceptions than substance. Some of the questions I found really odd. I was waiting for the Do you take long walks on the beach with your Ridgeline, or when thinking about your Ridgeline do you have unusual thoughts about your mother? Is you car impulsive, youthful or strong?
The second portion, which was optional had thinnly vailed questions about race, religion and polotics. I almost stopped the responses. And questions that asked if you were willing to step on toes to succeed.
I thought it was a bit twisted, at first thinking it was just Asian thinking. After I finished it was like a bad date, I felt like I may have just been violated by a smooth talking
survey taker.
DoctorJ 03-16-2006, 08:06 PM I am on the phone with American Honda right now, the lady and her supervisor both said that this survey is not from Honda and is not authorized by Honda. Complete at your own risk.
Also, I am talking to them about the trip computer and other items. Will update other threads on those issues.
Based on their knowledge of other items, I would not expect them to know about a survey either.
Toobuku 03-16-2006, 08:10 PM I took the first one and thought I was finished and it took me directly into another. Not tonight! ;)
25 Year Honda Owner 03-17-2006, 05:56 AM Response from Greenfield:
Thank you very much for writing to us at Greenfield Online Panel Support.
I strongly apologize for the difficulties you have had to encounter while trying to participate in a Greenfield Online survey. If you have received a message that you do not qualify for a certain study, it simply means that the project’s requirements do not match your profile or that we already have enough participants for that particular project.
Moreover, I would like to share with you that normally, our clients require a certain number of responses from one or several groups defined by specific characteristics. For example, they might want to interview only people who regularly use Internet, or who enjoy shopping, or who hate shopping. The surveys therefore generally consist of two parts:
1) Screening questions to see if you fit this group and qualify to take the survey.
2) Questions for the qualified participants, frequently asking your opinion of products or advertisements. This is the part which the clients pay for.
Please keep in mind that when you register, we ask about the other members of your household because we often have projects available for all age groups, genders, etc. Since more than one person from the same household may be participating under the email that is in our database, we need to verify the information before continuing with the survey.
Although your profile didn’t fit this particular study, we have surveys for many different types of profiles, so we will soon have one which is right for you. Please also make sure that you keep your member profile complete and up to date to help us invite you to the most appropriate surveys.
Hope to have your continued participation in our surveys.
We highly appreciate your membership!
Apology& Regards,
Sara Williams

DoctorJ 03-17-2006, 06:15 AM IF this was not a legit Honda survey then how did they get my email address? I have registered through the owner link site and I thought that is how they got my email address.
And Smkymtn, that was not a negative response to you...there has been numerous post by members here who have talked with Honda over the phone and they did not know about TSBs, trip computer, leaks, etc etc. They played dumb when I talked to them the first time.
BKLYNBOY11 03-17-2006, 07:50 AM I spent a hell of a long time filling it out last night and when I got to the end and it asked for my e-mail address again I just said srew it and closed it. What a waste of time!!
NC Blue 03-17-2006, 08:12 AM Received mine last night. Took it, as posted before, it was LONG! I answered "prefer not to say" on any that had that option and when all the crazy "feeling" questions started to come up I just entered 5 all the way thru.
STEVE FROST 03-17-2006, 10:16 AM You know I would have felt better if there were some questions about how they could improve the product.
Something that some day we may benifit from.
There was a question that queried the disire for a V8. There was also one that asked how important hybrid technology was in making my purchase? None of the vehicles listed have that as an option?
Instead it does appear that the only purpose was to find out how to market the truck more efficiently.
Still think the questions were odd, especialy ones that asked you to evaluate the cars presona, is your car impulsive? I am just pleased that mine is not bipolar or schitsofrenic like Tundra 37's.
Webwader 03-17-2006, 10:30 AM My RL, not being in touch with it's feminine side, refused to reveal or discuss it's inner feelings so I was at a loss as to how to answer the questions about its personality. :D
par3773 03-17-2006, 11:40 AM I'm glad I read this before I checked my e-mail. It was much easier to delete the survey than complete it. Thanks everyone!
AmazonRidge 03-17-2006, 01:49 PM I'm glad I read this before I checked my e-mail. It was much easier to delete the survey than complete it. Thanks everyone!
Woohoo!!
Now I have a better chance of winning the $500 cash price! ;)
vortmax 03-17-2006, 02:01 PM Woohoo!!

and it just improved a little more. I deleted mine as well.
csimo 03-17-2006, 04:27 PM I contacted Maggie Morgan at Greenfield Online. She was very evasive and claimed that only Greenfield Online itself was behind the survey.
Apparently the "from" in the email message that said "Honda Motors", and the signature at the bottom "American Honda Motor Co., Inc." were just plain lies.
I informed her that I was sending the original message to American Honda's legal department and I hope they take action against Greenfield Online.
I intend to file a complaint with the FTC against Greenfield Online and hope others here do as well.

Great work Joe,
Of course, then they are going to use our info to turn around and sell it to GM, Toyota or others...... ewwww! At least the folks I spoke with at Honda were telling me the truth. I had a feeling that they were being straight up with me on this. Wouldn't be holding my breath for the $500 either........
If you find out where to contact FTC and can save us some legwork please post that. Thanks.
rtraviator 03-17-2006, 06:13 PM Yeah, I just got about four questions into the survey... didn't seem ligit. Thought I'd come to the ROC to see if there was a post for it. I think it's a big ole SCAM/SPAM!

Thank you for your eagerness to share your opinions with us. Unfortunately, you did not fit the specific criteria for this study. We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this may have caused.
Thank you for your interest in Honda Motors.
"Your would think that after owning 13 new Hondas I would meet the criteria."
SmokyMtnRidger 03-17-2006, 09:12 PM Honda needs to be worried about more than their name and address being used. Either Honda is selling their OwnersLink or Owners email account lists, and/or owner email account lists are being obtained in less than honorable ways. Either way, owners lose privacy.
lgmendez 03-18-2006, 08:42 AM I should have read this before I spent all that time answering those stupid questions. Didn't seem legit. I should have followed my gut feeling.
Damn scammers!!!

I didn't qualify either and was pro honda for that survey.
I had a phone survey about the Ridge the day before I rcvd that email. It was probably sponsered by another automotive company. The surveyor had lots trouble reading the questions to me. The kept asking about the in-bed truck, about whether RWD would be more important then FWD. Lots questions about how much I would pay for options; in-bed truck, dual action tail gate and optional engines.
Cajun Country Ridgeline 03-19-2006, 08:43 PM Went to the web site, pop up message said I had already taken the survey.
That is completely wrong, have not taken any survey pertaining to Honda
Ridgeline.
This must not be from Honda, nor is it on the level.!!!!!!!!!:(
