SoCal ROC Meet III

Since the 2nd Meet and Greet was so successful, a lot of you SoCal ROC heads have said to me when is the next one? You make the call on this one by taking this poll...

2 locations have been brought to my attention....

Lake Perris, Riverside, CA
Cerritos Regional Park, Cerritos, CA

I have selected these dates for the next 2 meets....

Sunday, April 30, 2006

Saturday, May 27, 2006

Saturday June 17, 2006

I would like the membership to vote for the LOCATION and DATE. To make it fair to those who live in different counties of California, The 2nd place winner of the poll in Date and Location will automatically be the 4th SoCal Meet!
So vote for the Date and Location of your choice and the 2nd place winner in both categories will automatically be the 4th Meet and Greet. :)

Since lgmendez and Racer-X suggested the 2 locations, I asked them to do an advance on the sites for us with pictures, to help drum up interest. We should get reports on each soon!

Lake Perris any day its scheduled to be minimum 80 degs. May 27th is bad for me, but any other day, I'm game. June gloom? Not sure how its going to be this year, but hey, its supposedly spring and we got snow. Who knew???

I don't mean to sound pushy or bossy! Blame it on 'Command Presence' Something I have been displaying for almost 26 years, but this is what I would like to see.....

1. The 19 Ridgeline owners that came to our last meet and greet vote and show up again to the next 2 meets.

2. The other 4 or 5 who could not make it the last time make it this time.

3. The Ridgeline owners we know about, who we did not hear from the last time, make your presence known by coming to the next meet and greet so when people drive by the location, they will think Honda is having a traveling Ridgeline sale!

Give me a hell hey! if you agree with me!:D

I like both places. From the pics, Lake Perris looks fun. But I am thinking it would be kewl to do the Cerritos one in April and then plan a huge meet more toward the May/ June to kick off the summer. The weather will definitely be better and it would be sweet to bring some watercrafts or whatever. Also, by then Kev and Mike could convince Kev's wife to come then too ;)

I had a conversation with Racer-X tonight about Cerritos Regional Park and he told me because of health reasons, their are no public barbecue pits in the city parks. so you have to bring your own pits or food. We could also start a committee, take up a collection and buy the food and bring it to the location or have it catered? what does the group think? :)

Holly Cow Tony! You don’t sleep much either huh? I guess we could use another survey to find out what everyone like to eat? I’ve done the foot work with catering services before at work for our open house and family picnics, so I guess you have one volunteer already. I’m for catering so that way nobody’s gotta slave over a hot barbecue. Lemme know what ever else is required. :p

Good Morning,

That is right Tony, holy cow...don't you ever sleep....lol

I like the idea of just keeping it simple. Hot dogs and Hamburgers and for you veggies.....Veggie Burgers......pretty easy....just need condiments, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, buns, and whatever you put in a burger.

We can add some side dishes like potatoe salad, macaroni salad, chips and whatever else is easy to buy and bring.

Just my 2 cents.

Okay 5 cents.

Hi and Thanks everyone for the Warm Welcome.

Toobuku: I'll have some pictures of my truck after this morning as I'm heading up into the local canyons to find the perfect backdrop for it.

5S Dude: i'll skip over the obvious pros and cons about the two places and just tell you from my own perspective. i'm personally partial to big wide open spaces away from the city. LP is far enough away without being in the sticks and very wide open. As you learned last night there are no BBQ pits at CR, but they do have them at LP. As if this wasn't enought there are also bass and trout in that lake. if there are any fisherman / gourmet grillers in the group this will make for a tasty lunch. the lake in CR has catfish and the remote control plane that i crashed into it when i was 15 (there were no survivors).

thanks! that's in the entry way for Blackstar Canyon. it's close to where i live and reputed to be either haunted or where satanic rituals occur. it's neither based on my experience. it's a great scenic place to hike with an extremely active beagle.

i'm going to add running boards for now. any future mods depend on the mods themselves. I like to go for functionality primarily, but how it looks does factor into it. changing the grill is in the back of my head, but it's not high on my list of things to mod.

When I was younger and drove an "off-brand" 4x4 mid-size truck, you used to be able to drive back into Black Star & Holly Jim's for quite a ways. I haven't been back to that area in a very long time. Lot's of great memories though. Can't wait to see everyone at SoCal #3:D

Is the entrance to Holly Jim’s still a large bed of large smooth round rocks? After a long weekend trip, you may feel that it may be too soon to head back after 1,000 miles round trip. Not that I wouldn't, but timing, work, etc.....I did end up taking a day off work last week to make the So Cal meet....

I won't say I will not go to another So Cal meet, but just not this soon! (I haven't even gotten back from my Las Vegas trip this weekend - will be home later today)!

a couple of squatters live in blackstar now. the county seems to be ok with their living there, but probably put the gate in to keep any more from doing the same.

the ride into Holy Jim is pretty mellow. it's mostly dirt roads on the way in with a few of the smooth rock stream beds you have to cross on the way in. i imagine it's changed a little since you were last there.

Okay SoCal ROC'ers,

I'm back from Sedona and I am how refocusing on our next 2 meets. From what I have seen since coming back, we are tied at 10 apiece for Cerritos or Lake Perris, for April 30th. The last day to vote is April 16th for the location and date. We are bringing our own food to both! So in the event of a tie on the location, Our Queen will break that tie and the 2nd place winning location will be set for the 2nd place winning date. Any objections? :)

How do you guys feel about makin both events happen!

The Cerritos event could be a one day Ridgeline only meet & greets, filled with stuffing our faces with food and drinks, hanging out together in the sun shine, relaxing day at the park.

The Lake Perris event could include our EOC (Element) brothers & sisters and turn into a two day camping overnite extravaganza for those who dig camping! Tell me yer thoughts.:p

It's cool Kanji, I couldn't wait.:)

Hi gang! I just got off the phone with Linda at the Group Camp / Group Picnic Reservation desk in Lake Perris. She told me that as soon as we lock down the dates she will be able to reserve the spaces for us. Overnight and day use camping reservations require 48 hours notice and she said it has not been very crowded yet.

"40 Ridgelines cruzin into the campgrounds!!!" (Photo Op!):D

She also told me "The sooner we all decide the better the location guy’s!

Good Evening to all my SoCal ROC buddies!

I hope you all are looking forward to the next 2 meets coming up. I made an interesting observation checking the poll thus far. With 14 for Cerritos and 13 for Lake Perris, that's 27 Ridgelines in SoCal of those that voted.

Now check this out...I went to Lingered I's profile and clicked the signature to update the Google Earth for ROC members and to my surprise, there are many more members than the first and only one I down loaded when I first saw it. I also discovered that there is over 30 SoCal ROC members between San Diego, The High Desert, and Inland Empire alone!

Guys and Gals, if we can come out to both of the upcoming meets, that record could stand until maybe the international meet this year. But that is 30 or more Ridgelines alone. Not to mention, The EOC has been invited to join us at both meets. So I need your help, PM someone you know that was not at the last meet and greet in Laguna Beach and get them to come out to the next 2! It looks like April 30Th in Cerritos Regional Park and May 27Th at Lake Perris. It will not be official until April 17, 2006 so vote if you have not done so, but remember both meets are a go! I'll be coming to both of them! What about you! :)

Would you care to be a volunteer? we sure could use your expertise in handling some of the logistics. They told me they needed a 48hr advance notice for group camping and that a couple of us could bring "easy-up" canopies. Frankly, the individual camping spots look a lot more shade friendly to us as well. I believe it’s $25.00 to camp. We have a good amount of time to gather more info as the Cerritos event should be much more simple to get together. So this will be our primary focus. Stay tuned.......:p

Hey kanji, your right i was thinking the same thing. My girl reminded me that that weekend we are going to be out (going to HAVASU). I realy think that that date sould be changed. Memorial weekend not just the gas but the wait to get in. Never been there on that weekend but I have tried labor day weekend, I knew there was going to be traffic so I arrived about 6AM no joke.
The line just to get into the place was about 1.5 miles (not kidding). We ended up going to the beach instead.

My Regular gig, Dodgers, and MLB had me burning the candle at both ends and by Thursday I spent the next 2 days playing atch up with rest. Just a reminder for this coming meet, IT IS BRING YOUR OWN FOOD AS PER THE POLL! Those who want to go in with another member on food that is up to you and the other member.

As for the concern for the Lake Perris meet being on Memorial Day Weekend, it can be set for another time! let me know and we can poll it or do it on the June date that is already been discussed. just let me know how you wish to do it! If the M&G starts at 9am, I don't see an issue with parking. I would however, suggest gathering on the north end of the Park on 195th St (and Bloomfield). This will be opposite the festivities. And for those that want to venture out to the food & games after the meet, it's still within walking distance. Just a thought.

Hi fanger8 and welcome to the ROC! I was informed this afternoon by Racer-X of the very same info that you conveyed! He and I will be there around 5:30 to try and hold spots. I was trying to get on earlier to post more info, but the site was down.

[COLOR="Navy"]Hi fanger8 and welcome to the ROC! I was informed this afternoon by Racer-X of the very same info that you conveyed! He and I will be there around 5:30 to try and hold spots.COLOR]

Anyway, Thanks for the Warm Welcome! I don't think it'll be too hard to secure a place, if you're there that early. There's like 3 parking areas around the outskirts of the park (1 on Bloomfield by the gymnasium, a couple more along 195th). 2 entrances that will take you into/towards the sports complex portion (1 is off of Bloomfield and the other off of 195th St). Tookuku and Racer-X will fine the ideal location and camp out. They shouldn't be hard to locate. BTW - I don't recall seeing any bbq pits at this particular park. Hope this helps.

Hey Kelly, What did you decide for desert?

Toobuku
04-30-2006, 07:41 PM
Well gang, SoCal ROC III is in the books with 10 attendees. they were the following...

1: Ridgegal, (Kelly)
2: Toobuku & Daughters, (Anthony, Aracely, and Ariyon))
3: 5S Dude, (Ron)
4: Twintym & family, (Dan, Pam, Chelsea, and Caitlin)
5: MGUZMAN, (Miguel and Adrianna)
6: Racer-X and Family, (Lincoln, Monica, Aubrey, Ally)
7: Fanger8, (Peter and son Brandon)
8: Kanji, (Anthony)
9: Kneemow, (Steve and his back up, Bridgett)
10: Gadgetz and wife, (Daryl and Lydia)

I and Racer-X got to the park early enough to hold about 15 parking spaces. There was great food, great weather, great conversation, beautiful trucks and new faces to place with names. I finally got to meet MGUZMAN, (Miguel and Adrianna), Fanger8, (Peter and son Brandon), Kanji, (Anthony), Kneemow, (Steve and his back up, Bridgett). A great time was had by all!

We discussed the concern over the date of SoCal Meet IV at Lake Perris and decided to move the meet to Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18, 2006. That way, those of you can make arrangements in advance if you want to stay overnight there. I am hoping Luis (lgmendez) can supply and or make reservations for a group of 30+ for this next meet. In the meantime, I will be looking for lodging for the Cal ROC I Meet in Santa Cruz, CA on September 30, 2006. I did not take a picture for this one however stand by because Ron and others came through on this one! ;)

Here are my photos from today’s meet & greets. I’ve got to focus more attention on the ROC owners than always snapping pictures of their trucks huh?

To all that attended, Thank you so much for the wonderfully relaxing day together and hope to see you all soon at the Lake Perris Run to the Sun!!:D

And a special thanks to Tony & Lincoln for getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve all the parking and to Tom (T-Mac) for all your hard work making this site the very best it can be! (Your new server ROC's)

Hi yall;

Whooa! da food was off da hook today. We had korean short ribs courtesy of me and tony, some chiken ala guzman, darryl brought a wide array of food from knotts fried chicken to little snickers bars, and Ron brought Two awesome sushi platters. Practicallly everybody that attended had food in tow, it was great. The weather was perfect, we actually had two BBQ sessions with all the meat that was there, come to think of it...Hey Guzman we never fired up those steaks..hahaha. just age them till LP. It was great to see some new faces as well. I hope the next meet will be just as fruitful. Till then.

Kelly let her secret slip at the meet.......1st - She never uses her (truck) bed and 2nd - She Armor-Alls it. I told her my bed didn't look that good when I bought it. Lincoln was a close second on who had the cleanest bed. Ron wins for the bed that most resembles an actual truck bed. The rest of us fell somewhere in the middle.

Sunday was great and my family and I really appreciate everyone that planned and helped with the meet. Special thanks to everyone that brought the great food and to those that cooked it. We're glad we added some new SoCal meet attendees this time. ROC has been a great source for new friends!:D

Late in getting these pictures out but i did it. Well let me start by thanking all of you for such a warm welcome, sometimes you never know what to expect. Adriana at first didn't want to go, I finally convinced her to go but she wanted to come home early, as you all know we were the last to leave. All of you were awesome the food i cant even begin to say WOW......I ate for at least 2-3 days, well not really. After the meet Adriana and i headed to Manhattan Beach Tony & laura's house (friends) and we scarfed down the steaks we never got to grill. Sorry no aging aloud. Got home late and today didn't go to work but was out all day working on MIKEY the RIDGE.
Was at the dealer for the door clip recall, the LOOSE MOLDING, and the WINDSHIELD NOISE. that sucks i was the only one with these issues. was there for about 3 hrs didn't mind since i was watching the NASCAR race. well replaced the clips ordered the clips for around the molding and the will look into the windshield noise when i take it back for the molding clips. I also felt the odd one since me and kneemow were the only ones without the rear mud guards, so i got them easy to install 5-10 min max...Linc thanx for the info on the intake, and thanx for being the chef.... Another vote fore you.....

Hi Guzman, I'll have a Mango Margarita on the rocks with a shooter of Grand Marnier on the side. Thank you very much!:D

or

This layered drink uses Kahlua, Bailey's, and Grand Marnier. You can do them in anything from a 1:1:1 ration to putting in 1/2oz Baileys to 3/4oz Kahlua to 1oz Grand Marnier.
http://www.lisashea.com/lisabase/cocktails/images/b52l.jpg
Put in the Kahlua first. Now using an upside down spoon, pour the Bailey's gently on the spoon so it fans out against the inside of the glass, drizzling gently on top of the Kahlua. It'll form a second layer. Do the same with the Grand Marnier for the top layer. Enjoy!

Hi, I got a 2006 RTL, and when cold in the morning, I back out and put it in drive and when i start to excelerate slowly, at 5 to 15 miles per hour, I hear a clunk that sounds like it may be coming from the trans or some gear case. I think it may be the anti-lock brake system resetting, and clunk is herd.
I called several dealers and all they say is to bring it in and leave it over night for testing.
I have a 2001 Accord that has the ABS system that cycles every morning when I start out making a straing sound
I need a master mechanic to tell us what happens when starting out in the morning in the $32000.00 Ridgeline.....
Please tell me what is going on, Thank you
