Rear Slidding Window Rubber Sealssg22 04-03-2006, 11:06 AM Their is a small portion of the rubber that the rear slidding window slides into as it closes is bent backwards. Is this a defect in the rubber seal? AC Ridge 04-03-2006, 01:38 PM I have the same issue. About 2 inches of the seal is bending back when the rear sliding window closes. I am taking the RL in to the dealership and meeting with a factory rep for other issues (hesitation). I will keep you posted on what they think and will do about the seal. ProHonda 04-03-2006, 01:39 PM yup mine does that also, so I don't open the window   rtsdave 04-03-2006, 01:39 PM lower end of seal is that way on mine, as well as on a black RL I happened to be behind in traffic one day fightingmink 04-03-2006, 03:38 PM The seal also leaves nasty marks on mine. Wiley 04-03-2006, 05:13 PM Mine too, I thought it was normal. gonzo's rt 04-03-2006, 07:20 PM Same thing here. I'm going to put a little silicone on the rubber to see if this will stop it from curling under. tricycleone 04-03-2006, 09:36 PM Guess what, mine does the same thing. Lower 2-3 inches of the rubber seal curls under when the window goes shut. Gonzo, please let us know how the silicone works. Thanks. ssg 04-04-2006, 12:52 AM thats an original username, I'm honored :D Riley 04-04-2006, 10:56 AM Mine rolls under in one spot almost every time. After closing, I flick the switch to open it ever so slightly (don't want the edge of the glass to go back out past the edge of the seal) and then re-close to straighten it out. I'm sure this isn't doing the closing mechanism or motor any favors but it works for now. SStan 04-06-2006, 02:59 AM After reading this thread I checked mine and about 1" of the seal was rolled back. So at work tonite I took some automotive dielectric grease and applied it to the window seal and wiped it off with a dry cloth. Now the seal stays in place without rolling back. Also cleaned the seal at the opposite end the sliding glass, looked like dust/dirt collected in there. geotech 04-15-2006, 04:21 PM Mine usually does this too, plus I have a distinct rattle in the back window that only occures when completely closed. Any one else? Outfitter 04-18-2006, 09:30 AM Mine usually does this too, plus I have a distinct rattle in the back window that only occures when completely closed. Any one else? geotech, Mine also rattled when close especially when someone was riding in the back seat. I shot a bit of lithium lubricant between the window molding and the trim and it stopped the rattle. I think I read about this on the ROC in an previous thread and gave it a shot (pun intended). It worked, at least for now.:) geotech 04-18-2006, 01:23 PM Thanks for the tip, Outfitter. My RL makes it's first dealer visit this Friday. If they can't get it fixed, I'll give it a shot too. cer0z 07-19-2006, 02:11 PM i had this problem with my window...if you feel along the edge of the window it feels like the glass actully bubbles out a tad where the rubber is rolling back...if fixed mine without any lubricant simply kept running my hand down the rubber pushing it outward toward the back of the truck...i guess between the heat from the friction of rubbing the rubber and it being the middle of july helped reshape the molding...now it doesnt roll under at all...try heating the rubber a bit with a hair dryer if it is not working...i would rather try this than to have the dealership pull apart the back of my truck to change it MegNAntsRidgeline 07-19-2006, 05:23 PM My window does this as well. Side molding folds under when window closes. I try to open and close it a few times but it new fixes itself. I think the problem just comes and goes. I believe this is a first model year qwerk that will hopefully be addressed by Honda.:( ~Anthony PA RidgeGuy 07-19-2006, 06:54 PM Just went and looked, same problem here. I get nasty marks on the window, that is what made me go look.:( Ricker 07-25-2006, 08:20 AM Same here, about the bottom two inches, been waiting to tell the dealer at next visit. kermit777 07-25-2006, 12:19 PM Went out for lunch and opened rear slider to cool truck off, and sure enough the lower 2 or 3 inches were folded in. I worked it out using my fingers and shut window so the seal shut right, then left truck in sun to see if some heat will help set the seal in the right position. Just had truck in two weeks ago trying to get steering wheel noise TSB fixed (didn't work), get the door handle clips replaced, and vtm-4 fluid changed. The price for the vtm-4 fluid change didn't seem bad compared to other prices I have seen listed, however, I looked under the truck at the plugs when I got home and it did not appear to be moist at all. There was a slight stain under the bottom one, but not very moist like it would typically be with regular diff fluid. I wonder if the vtm-4 fluid remnants from draining evaporated from the heat on the way home, or they cleaned it thoroughly with some cleaner? Either that, they didn't do the work they said they did? BillB 07-25-2006, 01:25 PM For all those who are following this new thread version of a thread that happened almost a year ago, be careful in asking Honda to repair your rubber seal. I am the lucky guy who actually asked them to do the fix recommended in their service bullitins and ended up having my truck in the shop for 3 days while they replaced the entire rear window assembly. This involved taking most of the back interior completely apart on top of the window assembly replacement. Just a word of advice coming from someone who was there. By the way, my rubber seal is in good shape 4 months after the major operation, so at least it worked. Mr Fix 07-25-2006, 04:50 PM Mine did the same thing.I had it in to the dealer shortly after discovering this. They said that they adjusted the seal and I haven't had the problem since. I don't know what "adjusting" they did. But it worked :D aDcAT13 08-20-2006, 11:54 AM Only 400 miles on my new RXL.... and saw this forum discussion therefore was watching to see if it happens with my new '07..... SO FAR NO PROBLEM, GASKET STAYS WITHOUT FOLDING ETC. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE MY EXPERIENCE :) RTSrookie 08-21-2006, 12:49 PM I washed my new RTS for the first time on Saturday and as I was in the bed of the truck, I spotted it. 2 inches or so about half way up. I immediately remembered reading this thread and laughed.. I originally thought to myslef while reading the thread that it could not possibly be a problem on my truck.. Well, I LOLed pretty good. I closed the slider "almost" shut & worked the gasket back out with a business card then closed the glass tight. I'll let it sit in the sun tomorrow & see if the gasket seats back like it should be... Billy The Kid 09-04-2006, 08:13 AM Both my RL's do it and made me a bit mad when I first found it. If it doesn't leak, I don't care, but I'm not telling the wife.:D | |
