One (of meany) thing I love about the Ridgeline is the car like ride.

I would really appreciate some input from RL owners who have gone to 20's or 22's

Thanks,
George

Hi George,
I've got a set of Kyowa Racing Wheels and are model number K2 517 Black 5-spoke 20ӯ x 8.5 wide with a 5 x 120mm bolt pattern and machined hub-centric for an ultra smooth ride. Retail is $296 each but you can find them way cheaper on the web (bigwheels etc) Tires are Toyo proxes S/T 255/50/R20 109V rated.

To answer what most of us want to know; There is zero rubbing of any kind at any time with this setup (I’ve already checked this out for you guys) and they ride almost as smooth as the 17”Ø stockers. However, during “hard cornering” they grab much quicker and behave better in the wet than my stock units, plus they do not make any additional noise! (Yeah!). The difference during freeway driving is negligible and the overall diameter is 29.9” so I do have a speedo error to compensate for. But this is the motif or style I’ve been planning since we brought our baby home “Black on Black” with very little to no chrome. However, I know this is not everyone’s cup of tea and that my friend’s is what makes it so cool, cause I’ve always liked the black on chrome look myself. Hope this helps you decide what shoes to wear and a warm SoCal welcome to this great club! ROC-on!:p

George,
I understand completely! I worried about it for MONTHS before I decided to take the plunge with 20's. 5SDude helped me make my decision. I figured if i didn't like it, I could sell the wheels. I am SOOOOOOOOO glad I did it! I actually find the ride to be improved. Part of it is the tires are smoother and quieter, and the handling is much improved. Because the tires still have a reasonably high profile (50's), I find the ride quality to be no worse. I actually think it is improved because you have a better and more responsive feel for the RL and the road. I do think the brand of wheels and tires will make a difference. I got the following:

255/50/R20 Toyo Proxes S/T
ARA AR1 20" No hub centric rings or adjustments are necessary on this wheel.

Tirerack.com (http://tirerack.com) is the only retailer who carries the wheels, BUT, other places can get them for you. My local Discount Tire store (tires.com (http://tires.com)) got them at the same price and I didn't have to pay shipping. They will match ANY price. I paid $259 per wheel. The tires are 255/50/R20 Toyo Proxes S/T and I paid $157 each (which is an INCREDIBLE price).

i have the same set up as 5sdude, and i agree with him, the ride is a little different, but not too bad at all

I too went with 20's with scepticism about sacrificing ride. I found the ride to be just as comfortable with the new tires. I went a little larger, though: 265/50/20 tires. They have a slightly larger outside diameter than the 255/50/20's, but I think they look great, very aggressive, and still maintains a 4wd look.

You both have silver calipers? Weird, cause I was gonna paint mine bright azz red but when I started to look into this I found that all mine are painted black. Do they come in black and or silver on Ridgelines?

How far off is your speedo/odo? Have you checked yet?

Just curious...

Bright Azz red? Just get some real Brembo's. As far as your being black, it might be just caked on brake dust. haha.

I think mine are silver also, but now I have to go check.

p.s. Already setup an appt to get the TRUXXX 2" lift put in on Friday. I'll post before and after pics. Can't wait.

The stock Michelin tire is 29.7".
My new Toyos are 30.4".

That is right at a 2% increase. So my speedo should be off 2% accordingly.

I noticed when shopping for tires the sizes vary widely from company to company. The tire size calculators are a good estimate, but are not exact. You should get the exact specs from that particluar tire manufacturer's website before purchasing. I noticed as much as an inch difference in overall diameter between different brands of the exact same size tire. Also tire weights vary greatly. It takes a lot of research to find the exact size and weight tire to fit your needs. It can be frustrating, but the end result is worth it.
