: Well, finally got one
JPA2002 04-15-2006, 05:35 PM Well, I ended up with a white RTL today. No sunroof or xm, but I like it. I have been thinking about buying one for over a year and someone made me an offer on my other truck, so I sold it.
Now I am ready to get the new OEM grill, and towing package.
Thanks
Jon

Hi there Jon, Congrats on the new truck and a nice sunny west coast welcome to this awesome club. Loads of things to learn about here and a bunch of great folks to learn them from too.

JPA2002 04-16-2006, 10:44 AM Well, believe it or not, there were two choices of truck for me. I am a diesel lover, so I was going with at Dodge 2500 quad cab with the cummins diesel, or the Honda Ridgeline. I looked at price, and normally that doesn't bother me, but I decided that I would opt for the lower price vehicle, and so far, I am very happy. The only concern I have, is that I hope it pulls as good as they say!
I only pull a 5'x8' trailer occassionally or a 13' jet ski. I have not tried to load my 2005 Honda Foreman 4x4 ATV yet, but it looks like it will just fit in the bed, but that really doesn't matter, as I have the trailer.
Usually I opt to buy the truck that is loaded, but for some reason I decided to not get a few things, as my wife and I have found that we do not utilize them. I wanted XM, but not NAV, so after I saw the display modes for the radio when in XM mode, I decided it wasn't worth it, as I like my portable unit that displays channel, artist, and song title at the same time. So, deciding not to get XM that pretty much ruled out the sunroof. I then had to decide between the silver and white as my two color choices (I love the other colors, but these are the two that I decided on). Well, this led to a delima, as I love the gray interior in the silver, but I love the white truck. If they had white with gray, there would have been no decision. Well, I decided on the white truck and the tan interior is very quickly growing on me. One thing I noticed immediately, was that it was much cooler than the gray. So, my decision was made, and the dealer I deal with just happened to have one in white, RTL no sunroof, no XM. I love it! The ride is awesome, and my wife even loves it! There was really never a choice between the Dodge and Honda, as the Honda has so many neat features that directly apply to me, but my friends keep saying that they look ugly. Well, I have actually grown to like the exterior, as I am an engineer and I see this whole truck as an engineering marvel.
What do I do, age, etc. Well, I am a 33 year old, Sr. Operations Engineer for THE leading manufacturer (ITT Night Vision) of military Night Vision Devices that are used by our great military to protect us. I take pride in what I do, as I know that without these devices, our military would suffer 10 fold. If you have never looked through one of these devices, you should. Don't be fooled by the stuff that is sold by Cabelas, and these other outfits. If you have never looked through full-up military or some of the police force units, you do not understand the power and advantage that this gives our troops.
I willl be taking some pics shortly of the truck, and I will see if the dogs want to get in on the picture.
Thanks to all
Jon:)

JPA2002 05-02-2006, 05:41 PM Here are the pics. My "Real Truck" that I sold, my Honda Foreman 500, and of course the Ridge. Oh, the old Dodge 3500 with the Cummins diesel had 210,000 miles and is still going strong! Boy, I miss that clattering!
Also posting pics of the dogs and cat in the animals section.
Oh, my personalized plate is on the way also! RIDGELN

dodsim 05-05-2006, 11:13 PM Jon,
Excellent choice of color :)
As an engineer I too was drawn to Honda's evolutionary/revolutionary design of the RL!
I think Honda has tapped into a truck market segment the other guys didn't even know existed.
Just the other day, I was accessing the rear under seat storage and noticed a small but thoughtful feature - the rear seat spring loaded seatbelt connectors on the seat. Keeps 'em from being sat on  , getting lost under the seat, etc...
The RL is filled with good design/engineering examples like this.
Very cool
NVDs are cool too - keep up the good work for the troops
