Last Thursday, Webwader, Mrs. Webwader, Lady's Buck and myself got together in Michigan for a day of absolutely beautiful scenery, even though spring had not yet sprung.
We started off with breakfast at the Greenfield Inn. Mr. & Mrs. Webwader surprised me with a gorgeous gift of a Swiss made blanket ( correct me if I'm wrong Gayle ) made by the Mrs. that will be a treasure to me for life.
Then we walked the foot steps of the guy who started it all, Henry Ford. WOW..is all I can say. Gave me chills.
After a day of chat, friendship, Oregon, and bonding of old/new friends, it was time to part as Web and the Mrs. had to head north to visit 98 year old Dad and Lady's Buck and I returned to Brecksville.
Here are a few pics of the day.
They don't come any better than these fine people.
:)
BTW..The Ridgeline count only consited of Ridgena because Web and the Mrs. flew in. It may not have set a record, but we sure made life long friends.

I'll correct you. :) It's called Swedish weaving. The blanket itself is monk's cloth and then yarn is woven in patterns to finish it. It's a hobby that Gayle enjoys doing.
Thank you for the kind words and we echo your sentiments. It was a great day.
Fair Lane Estates was built by Henry and Clara Ford in 1914-15. The house is 32,000 sqft and is made of granite and concrete. The original grounds were 1,300 acres of which 72 have been preserved. Henry origianlly budgeted $250,000 for the estate, but ended up spending over $2,000,000. I'll go through my pictures in the morning and see what I can add.

wow - very cool! The lines of the stone in the walls remind me of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture along with the water feature that Web is peering into.
thanks for sharing!

Funny you should say that, ridgln. The original architects on the house were a Chicago firm that designed in the Frank Lloyd Wright style. For reasons unknown, the Fords had a falling out with the firm and fired them. The new firm redesigned the house, but obviously some of the original design was retained.
The water feature is an underground boat house. The channel to the boat house has been filled in so there is just a few inches of water in there now. The Fords had an electric boat to cruise on the Rouge River in front of their home.

Interesting pictures -- nice that you got to meet each other in person!
(Hey, Ladyridge, couldn't help but notice your nifty sweatshirt -- I've got one just like it on order!)

In case anyone is wondering, pic #3 is a bee coming out of hibernation, or so we think. The ground was covered with these ant like hills and when we stopped to check them out, we saw these little creatures sticking their heads out and disappearing as soon as they saw us. It was one of Nature's wonders to see.

Thanks Ron. The meet and greet never would have happened if JC and Todd hadn't made the commitment to drive to Detroit to meet with us. Our time schedule didn't allow us to drive to Cleveland and then back north to my dad's so we really appreciated them making the effort. Meeting them in person was truly a pleasure. They are a wonderful couple and true friends.
