Might any of our fellow members own a Honda Accord Hybrid in addition to a Ridge? If yes, please PM me as I have a few pre-purchase questions.

Better hurry- I've heard that Honda is contemplating killing the Accord Hybrid due to lack of interest. Not enough of a pickup in gas mileage to justify the additional expense. My suggestion- buy a regular V6 Accord. My 2004 has averaged 23.5 MPG in 2+ years of mixed use driving. It routinely gets 30+ on the highway. Burns regular fuel and they are discounted big time, especially now that the new Camry is available. Accord unit sales are down double digits- dealers will be extremely motivated on normally aspired Accords.

It would be kind of a shame if they discontinue the Hybrid Accord as it does boost performance well.

Some of the new Hybrids, I believe are retaining performance with the electric boost, somewhat like an electric version of turbo charging. You can get a lot of umph out of the electric motor imediate full torque, with out much penalty in fuel use.

The efficiency of the engine at normal cruise speeds with variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation sees no gain. The hybrids will gain fuel efficiancy in city driving only and then only if you drive conservitavely. With so much torque on tap it hard not to just have fun with the Accord hybrid and negate any fuel savings.

How right you are, Steve. My 2005 Accord with 11,000 is up to 28mpg cruise/interstate and 23mpg remembering what is was like to drive a muscle car. Very quick! :) I took one test drive and was completely hooked. Now lets talk about how much I love driving the Ridge.............
