Bed length

Hi, I would like to know why you don't produce this truck with a 6 ft. bed instead of a 5 footer. With a 6 footer you can almost get 8 feet with the tailgate down. The 5 footer everyone else uses just doesn't make sense. With this, you really don't need an 8ft. bed design.

Thanks

Some of the compromises that have to be made with a double cab truck. Increasing the bed lenght by another foot means less sales in the market that Honda is trying to reach, because of the fact that the truck would now not fit comfortably in most garages. This is one of the primary reasons why I purchased the Ridgeline, instead of the Double Cab Toyota Tundra. Most folks spending the kind of many that you spend on a Ridgeline, want it garage kept.

I have hauled plywood with no problems. Layed a few 8 foot 2"X4" studs on the deck first. Didn't even tie it in.

I agree completely with ridgelinewannabe and steveberger. I even have a Retrax bed cover on mine and I can not justify having a longer bed to live with on a day-to-day basis. The 5' bed is ideal for me but I can see where any truck, not just the Ridgeline, that has a 5' bed would be too short for some people some of the time. For those very rare occasions where I have needed to carry a very long item, longer than 8', like a 12' counter top or an extension ladder I use the "Hitch Hand". My truck fits in my garage with my motorcycle in front of it. If the truck was any longer something would have to go. If it was longer I know what would happen. I hate the thought of my wife having to clear the snow off of her car every morning but a man does what he has to do:rolleyes: .
Here are a couple of links for you to look at and consider. There are others and there are a lot of great stories and pictures here on the ROC that show how people use their bed.

Unless you regularly carry items that are longer than 8' I wouldn't be concerned about the 5' bed length. There are a lot of trucks sold every day with 5' beds. It's not unique to the Ridgeline. It sure does make everyday driving and parking a lot easier too!

I agree, I wish the bed was 1' longer...
