I am new here and am hoping someone can help me out. I have a 2006 Ridgeline RT model that has the XM ready deck in it. What do I need to do/buy to get this to work?

Any help would be great and I look forward to the feedback.

Simplest thing is to have your dealer activate the 3 month free trial (if the truck is new).

Mine was not activated when I pulled off the lot (late one night) and the sales rep said he'd call the next day to have it turned on. I beat him to the call - called XM and told them I had a new truck. Gave them the radio ID and they started my 3 month free trial. The instructions are in the book about how to get the XM radio ID number - preview channel then down one.

Good Luck.

If indeed you have a RT and Not a RTL w/moon then your truck is only (((XM))) ready. You will need to purchase addional equipment from the dealer for it to work. (((XM))) only comes standard (fully) in the RTL w/moon. Put it to you easily......if you don't have a moonroof than you don't have the "full" (((XM)))

Correct. I have no moon roof, so I know there is equipment I will need to buy. I am just XM READY. What equpiment do I need to purchase to get it working though?

Wow. Ok. Is there a cheaper route to go. I am actaulyl leaning more towards Sirius. I have heard bad things though about the reception going through am/fm. What options are there?

Go to Circuit City (Costco, Best Buy) and get a Dephi unit. They have units that can be used for home and Ridgelines:D . I got one free for signing up for XM.:)

personally i would never consider using a RF modulator for Satellite (((XM))) or Sirius. If my RTL S/R had a Sirius head unit i would be listening to Sirius

The Dephi unit can be wire to your radio. Does not need to be RF.

Honda is very proud of their XM radio. Completely ridiculous price.

You can replace then entire headunit for less the $369 and get XM or Sirius, MP3, and retain steering wheel controls. Also get better iPod integration if you want it. Alpine and Kenwood both have units like this - you need the PAC-SWI adapter for steering wheel controls.

Since You're Only Xm Ready The Cheapest Is The Roady Which You Can Usually Find For @$49.00 Complete. The Unit Sits Nicely In The Tray Above The Glove Box, The Antenna Sits Just Above And To The Left Of The Vent, And The Power Plugs Into The Right Power Bay. All In All About A 25 Second Install And You Can Move It From Car To Car. I've Had This For Over 2 Years & I Use It In 3 Different Vehicles Including A Golf Cart And Get Good Reception In All Of Them. The Key Is To Find An Fm Slot That Is Not In Use In Your Area. The Sound Quality Is Not Really Different From The One Car That I Have With Wired In Xm. Good Luck.

Dox, why is every word in your post capitalized?

As to the XM, I suggest that you get the Skyfi 2. It will record as you play so you can pause live radio.
Snaps into a cradle, so it can be pulled from the dock in the truck to the house.

I second the recommendation of the Skyfi 2.

It allows you to move it from the RL to your house and you can even insert into an XM boombox! Very versatile!

That way you only pay 1 Xm subscription and have the option to use it in multiple places!
