Utah and surrounding states Roll Call for Summer '06 ROC Meet

I haven't forgotten about my commitment to get a ROC meet going in Utah. I've been waiting for the snow in the mountains to melt some more. I'm ready to get serious about picking a date, but want some feedback on what works for people who may be attending a Northern Utah ROC Meet.

T Mac clustered Idaho with the Northwest. That works for the panhandle, but S. Idaho is an area where I hope Ridgeline owners will travel a bit south to join us at our meet. It's open who all who care to make the trip, near or far.

These are my ideas so far: As I've stated before, I'm interested in gaining elevation. I want to get our trucks up into the mountains so we can show them off in some of the incredible scenery around here. In that quest, Harold took me up to Sundance Ski Resort on our way home from Sedona last month. It looked pretty good in the snow so I think it will be spectacular once it greens up a bit. I'm even more intrigued with this as a possible destination because of discovering the Alpine Loop road that goes over to American Fork Canyon from Provo Canyon.

I'm at a clear disadvantage because this is outside of my stomping grounds. Have any of you spent time at Sundance or on the Alpine Loop road? I've done some research online and came up with some information. It appears the Loop road is paved all the way but not open until late May. As a bonus, there is a short dirt road that goes off to Cascade Springs.

Here are some good descriptions of the area and roads:

I'm thinking this would be a good drive to take after we initially meet for lunch. My first idea was to have lunch at Sundance, but after looking at the menus I think it's too pricey. My alternate idea is to meet in Heber City for lunch and then drive up to Sundance. Again, this is outside of my turf and I have no clue about a good place to eat or adequate parking in Heber City. I prefer it over the Orem/Provo area to get all of us out of the city and make it a bit easier for us to stay together.

Please give me feedback on my ideas and make suggestions if you have knowledge in these areas.

Back to the roll call, make your presence and location known by posting here or sending me a PM. I will send out emails in addition to posting on the forum when we get to a firm plan.

People planning the Ohio meet are discouraged at the lack of response and so am I. This was posted almost two weeks ago and not a single Utah ROCer has commented.

Is there any interest in meeting here in Utah? Some of you emailed or PMd me in past months saying you'd like to see this happen.

I'm willing to be the main planner of this, but I have other things to do this summer if it's not going to be attended by anyone else.

Comments are being sought here. Do you like my idea about Sundance or not? Do you know the area and can you make suggestions about a place to meet for food and visiting before we head out for our photo shoot?

BUMP to the top.

I heard from Kevin (meanmachine19) from AZ and he'd like to attend our meet. He knows his summer schedule and mid to late July would work best for him. He'd also prefer to meet on a Sunday to save himself from having to take any more time off work than he has to.

Would a Sunday meet and mid July work for the rest of the folks who may attend this? If not, when would you like to see this happen?

I've heard from RiverFisher and djdj so I'm feeling enthused about getting this together. Please chime in with your ideas and suggestions. I know there's never an ideal date that works for everyone, but let's do our best to pick a date that accommodates the most people.

Look at this other thread for more of the ideas and comments about this upcoming event then tell us what you think.

ProHonda, I surely wish you could make it too. It will be fun. Maybe the next one we have will coincide with the AF's schedule better.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

We've got at least three trucks driving down from Weber and Box Elder counties. Nate had to bow out, as did Riverfisher. I'm hoping to hear confirmations from more people tomorrow and perhaps we'll even have some just pop in. It's not critical to know in advance that you'll be there, it will just help to know how big of space to grab at the restaurant and to not hit the road until everyone who is expected arrives.

I haven't heard from wegg yet. Are you going to make it? Actually, I've made attempts to contact several ROCers in the area who haven't responded. I'm going to send out one more round of emails and PMs tonight. It's not too late to join us!

If you are coming and haven't contacted me, please do so. Remember to bring radios if you have them. I'm bringing some spares. Also, if you have a cell phone and haven't given me the number yet, please let me know what it is.

I'm heading to bed after doing several tasks to be ready for our outing tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing all the Ridgelines and meeting their owners.

Two trucks are coming down from Odgen, besides ours. Both are owned by people who aren't ROC members (yet) from contacts we made in our recruitment efforts.

See y'all soon.

Hey, we wish you'd been there. We had a great time. Wallabys had good food and we had the place virtually to ourselves. Our luck in the parking lots we stopped in for photo ops was stupendous. The drive was lovely and we had plenty of people looking at our five gorgeous trucks. We even had one family stop specifically to check them out and we might have sold another one from our sheer enthusiasm.

If I hadn't done a completely lame thing on my computer, I'd have my photos posted by now. I'm still working on it.

I'm glad everyone had a good time. My dad did end up buying a white Ridgeline on Friday but I was unable to get him to attend the meet. He might have come along if I was able to attend. Maybe next time.
Thanks for organizing the meet.
Good Job!:)

I'm glad your dad got his truck. Is he going to get on the forum?

I'm toying with the idea of doing a fall colors drive up at this end of the state. Anyone else with an idea could go ahead and organize a drive too.
