Webwader has been rattling the cage about this. You might want to contact him or look in his posts to see if anything has been resolved. I thought the 7th pin was for trailer brakes, not back up lights. We don't have either so we aren't impacted by it not working. I still think it's rotten to not have it work!

WOW! What great timing. I am in the same boat.
In a net shell:
If you have a RL with a build date of 8/26/05 (we both do) the 7th pin is not powered (for reverse lights or surge brakes). On RL's built 8/26/05 or newer, Honda changed the wiring harness & now the 7th pin is powered when in reverse. I have called Honda Customer service and was told that Honda would not fix this issue. If Honda recognized the problem & fixed it for the newer model RL's, why did they not include a fix for the older RL's? Because it requires a new wire run and relay to be installed. The wire needs to be run from the front of the truck to the rear. I feel cheated!! Honda knows there is a problem, yet they only fix it for the newer RL's? Whats up with that?
I have contacted Honda Customer service. They were NO help! (Big surprise) I am currently in the process of writing a letter to Honda Corp offices to see if they might be able to help. It appears that some people got this issue fixed by Honda after going through a bunch of hoops! I am finding out what hoops I need to jump through in order to get this issue resolved. BTW - I am a great hoop jumper! LOL!

All users with this issue, please post! The more complaints to Honda about this will only increase out chances of getting it fix!
** NOTE **
This will only be a problem if you have an RL with a build sate of 8/26/05 or older AND install the Trailer hitch & harness
The saga continues.......
