It seems there a a handfull of NY Ridge's registered here. But yet I see more and more on the road. The few of us that are on here need to spread the word and get more NY'ers registered and on here.

Interesting, you said you put business cards directing them here. I know they were once on this site. Or maybe it was a flyer, would you happen to have the link. I was trying to find it last night to spread the word.

I'm from Long Island, (Massapequa area).

Would like to get a meet together, with the member of Ridgeline Owner Clubs. We can make a N.Y. group. Going to need a list of who would like to join. Need a meeting place, to say Hello and maybe a road rally, or just hello and lunch.

Please post what you would like do.

I also have a G35 coup (infiniti) and we have meets, so I know what to do.
Check out the g35driver.com site and look go into forum and then groups and go to G-Squad. to get some idears.

Hey murphysridge,
Where did you get your RL? Did you shop much to get the best deal? D'Ella or Saratoga Honda? I'm in your area and I've been lurking on this board for a while - thinking very, very seiously about getting one.

I'm in Syracuse haven't seen too many around. I've only see 2 or 3 others on the road. Got mine in March 06 - no mods yet - thinking of the newly released steps I saw on the HandA site but they are not shipping the gray ones. Checked with a local dealer but the parts guy had no clue of what I was talking about, pulled out an old catalog to look through so I knew at that point I would have to wait for HandA to start shipping the gray ones. Also thinking about the westin bull bar..... I'd be up for a NY meet .... Adirondacks would be a good choice???

I live near Buffalo. There are 3 people at my company who have Ridgelines. I just bought a cherry red 2007. I love it so far. Looking forward to years of reliability.

I traded in a 1999 Chevy Blazer. I spent so much money fixing that piece of crap I will never buy a GM car again. My entire family has moved away from buying GM cars. They will unfortunately go out of business unless they fix their bad business practices.

Any of you metro NY ROCers who'd like to come along for a really nice ROC outing are invited to attend the NE Summer Meet on Saturday, May 19th, in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island! It's a nice drive up the coast and a chance to meet some other ROCers (and see their trucks). If anyone's interested the link is below and we could meet up somewhere mutually convenient (I'm thinking southern CT) and "caravan" up to Newport.

Welcome to the ROC, RTL, and TrueBlue !!! RTL, you might have seen the caravan of Ridgelines from our Long Island Ridgeline Meet in October. We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Medford. There were plenty of Ridgelines in the area during the 12th, 13th, and 14th. A great place ! Enjoy your new Ridgelines, and your time here at the ROC !!! :)

I had a Ridgeline sighting in Manhattan on the 8ih of November(Thursday). We were in the City to celebrate my birthday, and went to see Deborah Harry at the Fillmore. While looking for parking, I let a white Ridgeline out in front of me at Stuyvesant Park and E15st. (had business logo on front door). Are you here at the ROC ? Snowing here in Buffalo, 3+ inches on the ground, roads are very slippery and I'm stuck at work, would rather be testing out the RL in the snow, guess I'll have to wait until later.

As far as the wineries go, When I consumed alcohol, Tugboat red was one of my favorites.

I understand...I can't base anything on 3o minutes of driving....i know the stock michelins on my SI sucked(had to pay an extra $250 to get the better "summer" tires---funny thing is that these were only $30 more per time if purchased separately) ...but these seem to be a better match from the factory:)

Started snowing last night, received about 3 inched before is changed to rain/sleet. Now from rain/sleet it's changing back to snow, Took out the RL this morning for a newspaper, handled the ice and snow great, were supposed to get 10 to 15 more inches this afternoon, have to wait and see, if we do it will be fun to take the RL out in deeper snow.

was down in Boca all last week (no, not golfing . . . was there for a training seminar!) and when I got back to the airport in NY late Friday evening my poor RL was covered with about 1/4" to 1/2" of solid ice! Started it up, cranked up the defroster and the windshield and side windows were clear (took about 15-20 minutes) by the time I got through removing the ice from the hood, roof (side steps came in real handy for this) and tonneau cover. Fortunately, we don't get many of these ice storms here and our usual snowfall is much easier to remove.

nope, was flying Southwest so went through Macarthur/Islip waaaay out on Long Island but short-term parking at all of the NY area airports is pretty ridiculous (particularly when compared to the $15/day at JFK or $11/day at Islip for long-term parking). btw, wait until you take your first trip into Manhattan if you want to see ridiculous parking fees - when we went in for dinner and a show earlier this month it cost us $45 to park from around 6:30pm until 10:30pm!

Don't recall the parking regs in that area but, generally speaking, there ain't no free lunch when parking in midtown (at least during the week, haven't parked on the street in Manhattan on the weekend in years) - so you might have just been lucky. In many areas where there are no meters at each parking space they have those machines that cover an entire block (or, on crossstreets, sometimes half a block).

Think that they purposely make those machines confusing so that folks will pay when they don't need to!

Hasn't gone through (yet!). It's not an easy situation to solve. . . traffic is a nightmare and I'm not certain that adding an $8 "congestion fee" as has been proposed would do much to solve the problem.

Folks who can't afford an extra $8/day are probably already using public transportation and those who can aren't likely to start riding the subways, trains & buses.

Actually, you took one of the few routes where there IS a toll for leaving the city ($2.25 at the Henry Hudson Bridge) . . . for most of the other toll bridges & tunnels (GW & Tappan Zee Bridges, Lincoln & Midtown Tunnels, etc.) there's a toll when coming into the city and none for leaving. How's that as an incentive for tourism?

Reminds me of playing hockey on ponds when I was a kid (in the late 50's and thru most of the 60's). Everyone would bring 2 items, your stick and a snow shovel. You'd clean the ice off. Then if it would be snowing hard you'd have to stop and shovel again to keep the puck moving.

When I first got my RL a couple of years ago, it was $400, that was because the RL was new and the bypass module alone was $125 (No key left in the dash like the cheap systems). It also included the longer range system with full lock/unlock integration. (Of course I didn't get it...)

Grew up with a dad who was a long-haul trucker (over 5 million miles in his 50+ year career) and that was certainly true of him. Rode "shotgun" with him through 38 states before I was 13 and fondly recall tons of great breakfasts, lunches and dinners at diners and truck stops all over the country. One of my favorites were "fried" sweet rolls - makes my arteries harden just thinking of all of that butter, sugar and cholesterol!

Hmmm....that would be nice...Rensselaer didn't say anything about that to me.about a free oil change...should I ask?? On the really cold mornings last week....it sounded like maybe a belt was loose...a very brief screeching sound...less than a second....doesn't do it when there are normal temps

This is a common problem... Here's the original thread... http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11565&highlight=cold+start+noise

You didn't get hooked up with a free Gold serivce card? Or did you sign up for one or the platnium serivce plan?

No one hooked me up....what is a gold service card?? Should I call? I also read the thread...and that's exactly the noise I hear...there seems to be no resolution though

Nevermind just searched...this is what hondatech said it was...I trust him

Pilots do it as well. It is actually the power steering pump. The fluid is thick and cold and drained out of the pump. It makes a noise exactly as described on first start up as the fluid starts to flow. As of now its considered normal and there is no fix for it.

They have a couple of prepaid serivice plans.... Look here... http://www.rensselaerhonda.com/view_specials.htm?category=Rewards%20Program (http://www.rensselaerhonda.com/view_specials.htm?category=Rewards%20Program)

Now you know the other reason I asked if you wanted a hook up and who to deal with... In any case you probably still received a great deal. I am surprised the lady you bought from didn't mention the service plans. The platinum plan is a really good deal if you plan on getting all your service done there and not doing any of it yourself.

I get most of my service completed there. I do the simple things like tire rotations and simple filter changes. The VTM diff fluid change is only $52 with tax... Most pay $85.... I also get the parts/accessories that I install myself from the parts dept. It is much less expensive then online prices with shipping.

Free oil and filter changes for life at Ontario Honda but you have to follow their maintenence schedule. I can get Mobil 1 but I pay for the oil. I've been thinking of switching to synthetic. If I do I'll ask what their intervals would be. Regular oil is every 3,750 miles.

They still will let you get it…. The gold is not really worth the $….. If you plan on sticking with their service department and do not like to get your hands dirty, it’s worth it to get the platinum....

I guess I will consider it....how is their service department??

In all honesty, exceptional... They painted my rear bumper cover twice due to it being misaligned. Their prices on particular services tends to be much less then what I find most ROC members have to pay.

When my taillight had major condensation build up they replaced it with no questions asked.

They did the tranmission software update when I asked (I actually required it...) No questions asked. They actually educated me on the situation and spoke about their TSB policy. They will honor any TSB.

When my seat was rocking, they didn't even hesitate and play the game with tightening the track. No questions asked they just got another one.

When the safety label started to hang off the driver side sun visor, I didn't have to say anything about it; they ordered another and then told me it needed to be fixed.

They have told me on a few occasions that a tire rotation was not necessary at the time even when I do the rotation myself.
They told me to come back for the VTM change because the B6 service rang in around 13000 miles and because of my driving conditions I didn't need to get it completed until 15K.

They don't mind that I bring in my own synthetic oil.

With any service or warranty repair, they check and fill all fluids and lube all the hinges including the tailgate. .

They have Saturday service hours.

They will drop you off at your house and pick you up when you have a service appointment (anywhere in the "capital district" area...)

They are quick, very courteous, and do not play games...

I think it helps that they are a smaller dealer that is not part of a big auto group. The owner is in the office every day and will sit down with you and chat.

Hi, checking in from Troy, NY.

I got a Nimbus Gray 2008 RTL from Rensselaer Honda in November. They didn't mention any service plans to me when I got it, but I've been entirely happy with it so far, especially it's performance in the snow.

I spotted a White RTL (with a black Westin bull bar, cool aftermarket chrome wheels & OE tonneau cover) this past Sunday in the CVS/Zeytinia parking lot here in Croton-on-Hudson and left a ROC card on the driver's door. Hope the owner looks us up and comes on board. There are now several RLs in our area, including one from the state fish & wildlife folks, but haven't seen any others with ROC stickers (except, of course, for steveberger up in Peekskill who I first encountered in Vermont the weekend I got my RL).
