I purchased my RTL back in Nov '05. My free XM ran out back in Feb '06. Now I am getting bills for something I dont want or use. They are billing me every month since my free time ran out. The XM radio will only tune to station 247 (some emergeny response channel). I have called XM everymonth since March...and I am still getting bills!!!

XM says that I had to call and cancel after the end of the free 90 days!!!!
WTH are they talking about!!! They will not stop sending me bills and say there is nothing I can do.

THE XM RADIO DOES NOT WORK IN MY TRUCK AND THEY WANT TO BILL ME FOR IT!!!!!!!

Can anyone say "CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT"....

I need to find all you other ROC members that are having the same problem cause I am serious about this...I am getting all the info to my lawyer.

I know the XM call center is in INDIA...I am getting tierd of dealing with them...I can't seem to get anyone in the USA.

Anyone have another number for me to try....

Here a few #'s for you. They are all XM customer service.

1.800.852.9696
1.800.732.6360
1.800.892.5400
1.800.321.7117
1.800.967.2346

I must say that after the 90 days runs out its up to the customer to call (((XM))) to CONTINUE their service. That is the way it was in my 04' Accord and my 05' Element. I'll find out also with my RTL on 7-14-06. Hope this helps you out.

That is completely bizarre and unacceptable. I haven't heard of anyone else having automatic bills start up. Rather, it's cold turkey, no more XM the day they cut it off.

If you lived in Utah I'd tell you to call Bill Gephardt. He's our news channel consumer advocate and he loves stories like this.

Good luck and let us know how you get this resolves.

My XM stopped after the 90 days. I kept getting offers to keep it going but no bills. The emergency channel still comes through, but only that one. I would talk to your salesman at the dealership, maybe they could help. A few years ago my CC company tried to switch me to a different card and said that notice was given in some letter, told them that unless I sign or specifically request a service nothing can change or be billed to me. If XM does not do the right thing call the BBB or your States Attorney General.

Hope you get this resolved.

By the way what do you do in photography in Dallas.

As others have said, your XM should run out after 90 days and then it's up to you to subscribe. Are you sure the "bills" you are receiving aren't invitations for you to subscribe? I received one before my free trial ran out.

Check carefully... I suspect that they are just sending you "please subscribe" letters which show you the pricing options. You are under no obligation to subscribe, and if you can ignore the letters.

how did they bill you?

The next month after the free 90 day trial I received the bill.

The initial bill was for a promotional additional 3 months for $14.97.
So the first month I got it...I called and asked to stop service.
Second and Third month the same thing.

No we are after the 3 Free and 3 Promotional....now they are still sending the bill for the $14.97 + $140 for a one year extension....

I am still trying to get in touch with someone in XM USA. The India call center will not do anything about it....I always ask for a suprivisor but they always seem to be on another line when I call!!!

The craziest thing is that they said my radio was never turned off and still is working just fine....I asked him "I thought the radio signal only goes one way...how can you tell if my radio is working or not"...they said..."we can still see it in your car"....kinda freaky....big brother is watching!!! Maybe I need to cover thing (the Xm atenna on the roof) with Tin Foil!

I did recieve a phone call everyday for about 2 weeks after the 90 days was over intially. It was the same guy every time...some telemarketer....I asked to speak to his suprivisor then he told me didnt work for XM. I think I pissed him off and he signed me up for service to get back at me....its the only thing I can figure...

Dont they need a Credit Card to start service...that also the strange thing...they obviously dont have mine!

I like the idea of going to the TV station about this...I will check my local stations...I am sure we have a guy(or gal) like that!!!!

jpphoto - I have been in the photo industry for 20 years...employeed with...Noritsu...Qualex...Kodak....Fuji...

Phototech, if nothing else you should have a consumer protection agency to contact in your state.

As far as I know, XM has to have you Credit Card. I do nto believe they do "monthly payments" without a CC to automatically charge them to.

Here is the really wierd thing of it all....are you sure you are not dealing with a scam of some sort? Kinda like the EBay thing that went around in emails asking people to update their info? Be careful!!!

The only number I would use and recommend our customers to use is 1-800-XM-RADIO.

Something is REALLY strange there.

Perhaps another liine of defense may be denying even owning an XM ready radio. Perhaps XM CSRs are equipped to handle dropping this type of issue.

You are mental..
Those are not bills, they are solicitations.

I bet you get "bills" from awning companies, credit cards, book clubs, and your local supermarkets too.

Of course this is just my personal opinion, but why -pay- for bad radio when you can get bad radio for -free- on the regular radio frequencies?

The same for TV. Pay 60 dollars a month for a chance to see Leave it to Beaver or Mr. Ed -and- suffer thru commercials, too? Huh?

Back when cable first came out, it was touted as "commercial free" (yes I'm old enough to remember that!) but then creeping commercialism took over.

Same with the Internet. Pay for the connection and then have to cope with ads? Gee.....when will we good people start to fight back with our checkbooks?

And don't even get me started on the blaring commercials in the grocery stores. These people need to be shown what annoying the customer is truly counter-productive!

How did they get your Credit card number in the first place?

Report your card stolen - Card number will change - XM has no where to bill....

It's all in what you consider bad!? 30 G's for a truck......is it to much money? It's up to the purchaser. Thats what your typical RL costs....unless you get the RT, then you'll save a little green. But I WANT leather and the moonroof and (((XM))). If you can hack standard FM go ahead. Personally i like listening to the same station as i travel 1500 miles across country. Try doing this with FM.....NOT.... Want to listen to MLB or some College football or hockey. you can in rare occasions if your sitting still. I agree commercails are out of hand but hey what are you going to do?

They are not billing a CC....they are just sending me an invoice....
Not a sales gimic or some false advertising...I call and they say I actually owe the money...I hope everyone understands now!!!!

phototech11 I would also check your credit score to make sure they are not reporting you as delinquent. Could affect your score!!!

By the way I'm in people photography in Saint Louis. Weddings, Portraits, Families, Political events etc.
