I purchased an XM receiver for my RT this weekend, $47 for the unit, I wanted to wait until they were pretty much giving them away in a few months, but I couldnt wait. The MLB baseball package is awesome, and included in the basic $12 per month rate.

I did just a quick/basic install, I put the antennae right above the drivers head on the roof, and ran the wire down the outside of the pillar, and ran it through the door, and into the cabin. I ran it along the back of the dash, and connected it up. I put the XM unit down low to the left of the glove box, and angled towards me. I didnt want to see it while driving, or potential thieves/vandals to see it. The whole basic installation took 10 mins.

The radio reception out where I live is bad, but with XM it is excellent. I drive 3 hours a day, and I figured it was a sound investment, although I hated getting another monthly bill (I payed the full year up front).

The Sirius unit was about the same price, but it didnt have the MLB baseball package, that was the definite selling point of the XM for me, and I had been wanting it since I rented a vehicle that I drove to Florida with satellite radio.

Congrats, chrisoxjim. This sounds great, pun intended. You are going to be glad you made the purchase for many months to come. I saw XM in our RTL as a gimmick that we'd explore and enjoy for the three months and be done with it. I didn't expect to get hooked on it, but we did and we missed it terribly when it was disconnected. Needless to say when the $77 first year deal came our way we jumped on it. :D

truckin,

Like I said I had been wanting satellite radio since that rental car i had. The price was right, and the $12/month, Id probably pay that just for the MLB games. THat $77 annual rate you got is great.

I'v had it for 2+ years now. Had a "Roady II" unit in my old SUV before buying the RTL with XM built into the head unit. I transferred the old unit into my wife's Honda and even bought my daughter a "MY-FI" portable XM unit for Christmas last year. I just had them lock out comedy channel 150 (she's only 13 and some of those jokes are pretty bad). I did a comparision of IPOD's vs. the cost of MY-FI and even with the subscription cost per month XM is clearly cheaper than owning a IPOD if you paid for each song you loaded. There is nothing like listening to the same stations you prefer even though you are five hours into a trip.

I didn't think (((XM))) was all it was cracked up to be until my honda element (traded it on the RL). It came in the head unit like my Ridge. Once my 3 month trial was over i just couldn't listen to regular radio anymore.
