i am looking for info on the studs attached to the roof for mounting the factory rack - what is the center-to-ceter distance of each pair, how recessed are they in the channel? Also, what does the cahnnel look like?
I am thinking about mounting Yakima landing pads down in the channel, hopefully using the factory studs, to create a semi-permanent mounting location for a single roof rack bar. It looks like the landing pads have holes spaced 3" apart or so. I think the factory studs are only 18mm apart, and cannot be moved. Is this correct?
thanks

thanks, no the instructions do not really provide any useful info other than "how" with the existing set-up. I am looking for pix of the studs and channel to know what else I can do without having to remove the strip
thanks though

I just installed mine two days ago, EASY AS YOU KNOW WHAT. About the strips, I hope you didn't spend the money on the "SPECIAL" tool Honda offers, for a carefully placed flat tip screwdriver will do the same.
CAUTION:
When you go to remove the strip, don't lift up until you hear a "snap" like I did. There are some cheap plastic "things" holding the strips on. Thank god you only need to reuse 2 of the six that are on the truck to secure the front two pieces. The roof rack secures the rest.
Lift the strip about 3/4 to 1" off the truck and then just pull it very slowly towards the front of the truck.
THERE IS NO GETTING AROUND CUTTING THE STRIP, IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS THE STUDS. The mounting point of the rack sit flush in the bottom of that channel.
The measurement are on point, but start measuring from the front and work your way to the back of the strip. Notice on the instructions, all other measurement are "exact" but the very tail end one that says "approx"
Well, That’s my info. I’m really sorry I didn’t take any pictures of the process, I’ll try to be a better ROC member in the future.:D
