woodco 06-18-2006, 09:52 PM While washing my Ridgeline today I noticed a huge crack in the RETRAX lexan cover.
The crack is at the foreward end of the cover where the lexan meets the aluminum channel. The crack is about 3/8" wide and tapers to 0" about 36" long. I E Mailed RETRAX, and also TRUCK GADGETS who I purchased the cover from.
I'm sure they will take care of the replacement, as the cover is only 10 Months old. Did any one ever have a problem like this with the RETRAX cover?
Any response would be appreciated. I think this cover is fantastic, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. I am going to try and show you guys/girls some photos I took, if I can figure out how.
Vinnie:confused:
P.S. I just tried to send the pics with this, but it didn't work...anybody help!
swampler 06-19-2006, 06:50 AM Sorry to hear about your Retrax. I hope they take care of you.
As for the pictures, you probably need to resize them. There's a max size you can attach; however, I don't recall what it is. Seems like 640 x 480 may be the max.
Wiley 06-19-2006, 09:40 AM My Retrax was delivered with a crack in the lexan on one side. Retrax sent me a replacment without a problem and I think the damage was due mostly to the way the product was packed for shipping (and personally I think the lexan should just be replaced alltogether with alluminum). The service and turn around was great and I would still highly recommend the product to anybody looking for a bed cover.
Ghostly 06-23-2006, 09:34 PM Stop jumping on it.
Truckin' 06-23-2006, 09:51 PM Ours is approaching one year old and held up through all our winter weather very well. Remember to post how you were treated by Retrax in getting this rectified.
woodco 06-24-2006, 09:51 AM I contacted RETRAX about the crack in the lexan. They said it was from a chemical process they use when attaching the lexan to the front channel.
They are shipping me a new cover, and should arrive this Monday the 26th.
Great service from a great company!!!!

godzilla2007@yahoo.com 08-21-2006, 11:47 AM My RETRAX was also cracked. The cracks appeared at the top (nearest the back window) in the LEXAN. First one was small then about a week later the crack was approx 7-9". I contacted RETRAX they asked what the SN# was (it is located on a sticker on the underside of the RETRAX near the lock on the left side)..They said they had some of the Retrax covers made with a different chemical composite that unfortunately cracked. They have corrected this issue on newer covers. RETRAX customer service was great they sent out a replacement roll top and had it in approx 3 days. If you purchased your RETRAX approx 1 year ago you had better check to see if you have small cracks in the LEXAN in between the ridges..look close!!..the cracks only appear in the very front of the bed cover nearest the Ridgelines back window. Mine was leaking water from these cracks into the Roll top tube and the water was luckily draining out through the plastic tubes. Hope this helps!!

That's great news and glad to hear you got it resolved, even after owning it for 10 months.
I've given the retrax some consideration, but would rather see it in person first. My wife wants something to cover the back because she complains I have too much of my crap (softball gear, towing gear, tie down gear....) in the trunk and can't put groceries in there
Glad to hear it went well!
ridgeln 08-28-2006, 06:09 PM meanmachine19 - check out the thread on the dividers and lid for the trunk. My wife used my truck yesterday for getting groveries and LOVED not having the groceries sitting in with the trunk junk (yes, I've got junk in my trunk.. ugh.)
This might help:

Quickcast 05-30-2007, 09:00 AM Is there any issue with noise after installing a Retrax cover ?
woodco 12-07-2008, 10:09 AM Follow up two years later.....retrax working and still looking like new. Great product!!!!

Tcape 12-08-2008, 07:35 PM Very nice to see your 2-year report, woodco. I've had my Retrax for about 8 months now, and I love it. I didn't install the drain tubes, but even in pouring rain, I get VERY little water in the bed. This is one fanatatic cover. Everyone who sees it is impressed with how well it works and how nice it looks. Most everyone who sees it has never seen anything like it.
SRQRIDGE 12-08-2008, 10:55 PM Retrax customer service is excellent. I had a bent side rail on delivery. They shipped out another after sending them the pictures. Glad to see it is still holding up great. I also receive alot of comments and questions on the retrax topper.;)
RobsRedRidge 12-10-2008, 01:04 PM Is there any issue with noise after installing a Retrax cover ?
Had it installed early this year. Mine kinda quivers, creating some noise...nothing crazy. Hear it at say, 40mph and up WITH rear bed window OPEN. I hear nothing when it's closed. I love, love, love my retrax and I'd buy it all over again! My drain pipes ARE installed and they work like a gem...no H2O! ;)
Pizza Man 12-10-2008, 01:20 PM I'm just shy of two years and still luvin' it. Given the same set of purchasing options, I'd buy it again. :)

I have the same problem. I hope I have the same results with them making it right?
I emailed pics and left a message, but it is the weekend so I don't expect any reply till Monday, I noticed the problem when using my CA duster. It was snagging in the same area. I didn't notice the crack at first, so I have had this issue/crack for a few months. It is had to notice with the naked eye since the black color hide it well.

Tcape 03-28-2009, 08:10 PM I've had my Retrax for about a year, and have had no problems at all. I didn't install the drain tubes because I didn't want to drill the holes. Even when I wash my truck and spray the hose on the cover full-force, I get VERY little water in the bed. Not nearly enough that I'd install the drain tubes. Just my preference. YMMV. Absolutely love my Retrax.
And with the Pop 'n Lock, it's perfect.
SRQRIDGE 03-30-2009, 08:33 AM Again....I am impressed with their customer support and warranty on their product.
Retrax is shipping out another cover. I will need to remove the damaged cover, lock, then reinstall lock and install new cover.:);)
SRQRIDGE 04-05-2009, 08:11 PM Received the new cover Friday and installed Sat. Easy fix, just needed some help. I ask two co workers to help at work. It took about 5 minutes to install. It took more time unpacking and reinstalling the lock.
I now have another 1 year warranty for full replacement. :);)
